QUOTE(latte33 @ Oct 21 2012, 11:54 AM) CALTEX HAVOLINE SYNTHETIC BLEND (10W-40) is that ok for my Honda City 1.5 VTEC 2008? I have limited knowledge... I know that oil is SM category in @pumpman thread he provided. But not sure is it good for my car. XD Honda Malaysia offers 0W20, 5W30 and 10W30 for Honda cars, 5W40 is recommended for Civic Type R.... http://www.honda.com.my/sales/parts_lubricantHonda, a member of JAMA (Japan Automobile Manufacturers Associations) will recognize specification developed and implemented by ILSAC, currently, the standard is GF-5.... http://www.oilspecifications.org/ilsac.phphttp://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=480...&type=3&theaterIf you are looking for most updated specification and standard for your Honda City, It should be: SAE, 0w20, 5w30 or 10w30 API SN ILSAC GF-5

QUOTE(jemmi @ Oct 22 2012, 09:22 AM) From my experienced for VVTi, VTEC & MIVEC engine better find 5W40/50 for smooth ride, expecially Toyota, Perodua & Suzuki with timing chain inside engine need light oil. That why big & powerfull engine like Lexus using OEM oil 5W50. I think Honda also had their own OEM/Brand engine oil. Anyway 10W40 semi synt blend also can be use but not really suitable. you mention light oil, 5w/30 is lighter than 5W/40

Are the engine oil bought from Tesco and other supermarkets original? I bought the Shell Helix Ultra from Tesco and it is cheaper but the bottle is different from the one bought at petrol stations.

QUOTE(pumpman @ Oct 21 2012, 10:30 PM) sir look for 5w/30 you can use 10w/40 but you may not enjoy as the engine potential. hm, any different with using 5w/30 and 10w/40? And what do you mean engine potential? is it 10w/40 for high performance car?

Their packing may differ from the ones sold in gas stations/spare part shops/workshops. Do you think Tesco dare to sell fake oils? Even if they do, you know the legal right to sue them for causing damage to your engine.
