SEED & DESTINY are full stretch of 50 episodes isn't it?
this 00 is 25 episodes per season and god knows how long we'll have to wait during off-season..

so it's different

wolf means as not in episode counts but in terms of sequels.

Is 25 episode its complete of 1 chapter? or a to be continue chapter?

maybe they wait for people's response... if got a lot of demand for season 2, they will produce it... if not, maybe they just produce OVA... LOL...

No need to prove la. I never said that was wrong. In fact I agree to it. I just went a step ahead and said ALL GUNDAM SHOWS (well.....except War in the Pocket & Stardust Memories) were about merchandising, not the story. Just look at the number of "few minute screentime mechas" appeared in Zeta.

And lets face it....the story in Zeta anime was pretty lame as well if it wasn't backed up by non-anime material created later.

And the way I see it, 00 will also fall into the same category.

Zeta.. Its kinda good u know. U have to stick to tv series cos the movies are only for those who watch the tv series.

To let you know Zeta is what bought Gundam to where it is.


Those cameo only appeared in the movie. The Jaburo defenders MS never had any model release whatsoever.

0079,Zeta,ZZ never had mechandize in mind at all also.
V gundam was a desperate means for cash for bandai.
Turn A.. is rofl lmao at its best.

So far other than CE.. I say W gundam truly harness the mechandizing issue... Nearly every W gundam have a model.

I am watching the Zeta TV series and I am having a hard time finishing it. I watch it on and off for the past 2 years. I find it hard to sit though it. I like the political aspect of it but that's all. The constant stupidity depicted by Kamille and his gf Fa was pissing me off. Katsu pissed me off even more. And those kids running around the ship....OMFG....grrr. Then every episode.....something like this happens:

Kamille: Lalala....my life sux...i am emo Gundam pilot
*alarms blaring. Ship under attack!*
Kamille: Zeta Gundam.....ikimasU!!
everyone else: Ikimasuu!!!
Fa: Wait for me Kamille! I must go and prove myself worthy!
Char: I am so cool.....i detect "pressure" everywhere. What is this pressure?
Katsu: Bright doesn't understand me. Nobody understands me. Adults are idiots. I am not an idiot. Yay i can finally be a pilot!

next episode.....enemy gets a new MS to play with. Almost every 2-3 episodes seem to have a new enemy MS. Its like enemy of the week or something. This is what i mean by merchandising. These mecha appear for awhile then no more...just to sell more models. And frankly almost all the episodes in Zeta happen like what i typed above. You call that a story?

Urgh....that's why I got tired of Zeta. The only reasonable person in Zeta was Char IMHO. Everyone else is over the top and very stupid. I'm thinking of just skipping Zeta and go straight to CCA.



Believe what you will.....but i point you to mecha HQ, http://mahq.net. It lists mecha from various famous mecha shows. Look at Gundam and look at Zeta's list of mecha. Tell me which one has not been made into a model kit yet. I rest my case. Gundam Wing is nothing compared to Zeta in terms of merchandise whoring. Then compare "Gundam" with other series like "Dunbine", "Eureka 7", "Macross" etc. I dare bet that Gundam has more than 50% share of all the mechas listed on that site.

I never watched Turn A but despite weird mecha designs, I was told by alot of Gundam fans it was one of the better Gundam shows especially the AU ones.

^ there's no need to debate over which gundam anime is merchandise minded or not... All gundam animes aim to sell kits, maybe except for the short UC OVAs but the mechas in those series got produced into model kits and toys too.

Wing, esp Endless Waltz milk the most out of toys before the emergence of SEED. You can see SEED handbags and cups and keychains all over anime shops... but less of those from other series. Amuro and Char might have enjoyed the same publicity but the other UC series were relatively less commercialised, at least during the time they were released.

As for Zeta's repetitiveness, it's quite normal to have those kind of scenes in every gundam. Then again I haven't watched much of Zeta series to make a comment. Gundam X had the power ranger style "baddie of the week" too. Gundam V was not in any way different, but at least the battle scenes were creative. Gundam W? Apart from the godlike mechas, the battles between the factions were pretty much interesting, esp my favourite scenes such as TallGeese vs Heavyarms and Tallgeese 1vs 50.

Don't forget Seed had similar stuff where every episode showed the ZAFT mechas going after emo Kira while he takes them out with Strike and Archangel every time. The first 25 episodes were basically similar... chase Archangel -> fight -> KIRRRRRAAAAAA, AAATTTTHHHRRRRUUUNNNNN... bang bang boom boom.

I refrain from talking about GSD.

Usually OVAs or movies would have better fights since they are shorter and hence doesn't require many battle scenes, which sometimes might get repetitive. 0080's fight btw Alex and Zaku was short yet meaningful, 0083's earlier melees were good too (before Niel Ziel and Dendrobium spammed everybody else). 08th MS team... apart from Shiro's constant stupidity, it was pretty much enjoyable too. Gouf Custom pwning Ez8 was classic though.

Let's just hope 00 would have good fights, although chances are we'll get godlike mechas aka Strike Freedom/Wing.
