SIMOTA panel filter by Works Engineering. I like! But then a bit doubtful on the filtering ability compared to factory filters. Pores seemed to be far bigger compared to factory filter.

Yeah it does look bigger.. But then isnt performance filters pores all bigger than OEM ones?
But what i can say is that the pores when u see one in real life is actually really small, good enough to filter out most sandy particles..

I'm not so into change tires now, so no need count me in! If i free to go then i just join u guys.

I think should be ok gua...coz the stock filter cannot tahan the heat beside the engine. u can see the ur stock filter already bend. last time, my stock filter bend a gap after 8k km. i think the dirt go in my car more lor....
Last week, i just took out simota filter and just flush with water.... It still maintain it original look after 4k+ km.
And during this 4k+ km distance, i do few times long hours(4-5hours non-stop) drive.

May be from time to time need to clean throttle body lor...
Wonder how to clean it ya?? go shop do or D.I.Y??

yea performance filters all have bigger pores compared to OEM ones. I researched and found K&N also like this. Very similar. One thing i noticed the most is, slight improvement on torque and smoothness of the engine. For example, i used to get this loud intake noise at 3k plus... now with this Simota panel filter, its more silent. And then at certain rpm and depending how much you press on the pedal, the intake noise is different as well.

Added on October 3, 2011, 2:04 pmbtw, how do you guys clean this Simota panel filter? And how long does this filter last till the next change?

nod.gif And dry it properly too. Don't want to have water droplets in your engine.

Mmm....why do you think it has performance increment over stock paper filter? It was done by letting more air thru it. If it has as good filteration as stock paper, that means the same amt of air goes thru as well....performance will be the same as stock paper.

Some change to oiled filter to save long term cost of changing paper. For me, if that was the purpose, it was done at the expense of getting dirtier engine/throttle, not worth it. If you want increase performance, than it might be worth it depending on how you view it.

the airflow is coming from the bottom then upwards.. so flush the filter will running water from the top.. DOnt use soap as it will remove the oil on it and may tear the fibre mesh up when u scrub it.. Just run it through water and let it dry 100%.. U are good to go by then.
