I've tried playing iso files (stored on my HDD) but it seems the player is not recognising the files, as they do not show up at all on screen. Is there a firmware update for this, or it doesn't play iso files at all.

The E380 only aupports limited format from via USB such as
Supported media formats Disc playback: 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD-Video/DVD±R/DVD±RW, CD DA, SACD; File formats: AVCHD, XviD HD, AAC, MP3, MKV, WMA, WMV, MPEG(1/2/4), JPEG
Firmware wise to support other formats may be unlikely but should follow up on newest firmware features for a better playback experience.

Hi!, yes, still do. Listening to quite a bit of FLACs too though. Really have not had that much leisure time to really see to the hobby, of late. Hope you're well.

U will b lucky if u manage to get none Cinavia compliant unit. All player are now complied, thus u can't play pirated DVD, bluray or downloaded ones. I grab 2 units of S485 include my fren..thank god they were none Cinavia compliant. Ii kept 1 as spare. Anyway, S485 got good ratings & bet most of its unit is none compliant.

What if I choose audio passthru and my AV receiver no cinavia? Will my BD player still play the movie?

I mean if the watermark is stored in audio, if I enable audio passthru in my BD player, theoretically it will work right provided my AV receiver has no cinavia?

Does AV receiver also need cinavia certified starting 2012?

Illegal stuffs wont be available in open market. Any BD player with AACS decryptor without cinavia as of feb 2012 is ILLEGAL.

They can still make it LEGAL without Cinavia Blu-Ray player, but got one problem, these players will NOT PLAY ORIGINAL Blu-Rays, only pirates with ripped AACS.

Your AVR is no concern to it. The BDP and the BDs that are Conavia infected will play the movie even you passtrough the audio but your AVR is only decoding and output the audio format which is available in your main source.
So if your BDP / main source are Cinavia infected. Then errors will pop out if pirated media are detected while playback.

Does this mean old player b4 feb 2012 has better playability than new player since they can play both original and ahem bd??

Nope the updates doesnt affect playability.

Playability only deals with the servo and the laser parts.

Cinavia compliant player will not play copied/backup cinavia infected titles. no problem playing backup/copied non-cinavia titles .
