Nope the updates doesnt affect playability.

Playability only deals with the servo and the laser parts.

Cinavia compliant player will not play copied/backup cinavia infected titles. no problem playing backup/copied non-cinavia titles .

Oppo BDP-93 has 2 hdmi out. I was recommended to this player due to my amp/receiver is not 1.4 3D but my TV is. So, Video straight to TV but audio to my amp/receiver.

Regoin B & C are locked and not applicable to our local BDP cause it only supports Regoin A / Region Free BDs.

Briefly tested Avatar 3D on my PS3 (latest firmware updated). Simply awesome...

Didn't get to a point where the Cinavia protection kicked in tho. When it asked to connect to the internet, I simply set "no".

Do the cinavia workarounds on the PS3 work?

For share - this unit have 2 HDMI output
Sony BDP-790
Is there any user of this player, I asked the sales assistant, since there is no button on the player, so how do I control the unit, then he told me everything is under control by the remote control. Is it true?

two good bdp that supports 2hdmi outputs :

sony s790

panasonic bdt500

if u buy from spore, about s$499 for the s790, the bdt500 about the same price, klang valley can't find the models at all

some of the newer tvs have audio relay control on their hdmi2, u can connect an hdmi out from the tv to an older amp.

Sony BDP S485 which has good ratings & reasonable price player. I got it at @ RM499. Since its a bargain, I got 2nd unit as spare.. Really ...no regret as the price for this old model is high in demand & am lucky as it was not Cinavia comply. Now good price is RM599 at many stores. Originally is RM799 me heard.

If don't mind cinavia affected. I think get the latest model sony bdp-s490 is good buy. Desa home theater is selling RM499. If you always do the dlna streaming, please don't update the latest firmware & off the auto update feature. After I update mine, my sony bluray player cannot read most of my video file from media server, But read from usb port still ok.

not just disc, it doesnt play downloaded rips (through USB) it will not work if they're ripped from cinavia protected BDs.

Dont worry on the sales person, just tell them to hook up the S380 and from the menu go to System Settings --> system info.
Make sure the firmware is M06.R.0415 or older so is confirmed a Cinavia free unit, if the firmware is beyond what i just stated then is a Cinavia effected unit which will have error playing ahem discs.
That was what i did when i got mine and the sales person also don't know much except hooking up the BDP to the TV, LOL!!

Hi,
I have checked the s380 at Harvey Norman, the fw stated as m06.r.579. And for the s485 model the fw is m07.r.609. Just to check whether both models are free from cinnavia. Thanks.
