Stoke city is a good team and quite hard to beat. When they first promoted to EPL, they were like a traditional English club which relied on long ball and big size players. now they're a team mix with long ball and flair. Crouch definitely will be a major threat. Stoke City currently have plenty of option to put the ball in the box besides Rory Delap's long throw. They have Jermaine Pennant on the wing for crosses and set piece delivery. I'm sure Liverpool can win this game given that they can cut the supplies of cross and mark Crouch tightly. One thing i'm concern of is the treatment given to Suarez by Stoke's players. they're quite aggresive in tackling.

Why should we bothered about United? Am i on the right thread ? Kop Talk? I would be happy to see if we can talk about our next and upcoming games rather than worrying about neighbors.. blush.gif

skrtel really out of form... KD should really start playing coates. We can't afford to concede goals from weaker teams and need to be more sharp and clinical in the finishing.

Norwich have been playing good football of late, the loss with united and chelsea does not do them justice.

Liverpool have created a host of chances against Norwich (also playing good footy) but fail to finish, we are the most wasteful team in europe! Unless our attacking outlets buck up their finishing, we can say bye bye to UCL placing.

If you talk about previous few games, we need a finisher. No frills, no fancy stuffs...just put them in the net......
among all the strikers we have, strangely, the only one with such background are the 2 fellas who did it in the Dutch league before---Kuyt and Suarez...
We need Suarez to create and run, so maybe a solution is to ask Kuyt to reduce work rate and just stay in box and concentrate on finishing...

but that might disrupt the balance in terms of getting ball into final 3rd..

It is beyond me how the positives seem to escape the attention of some. Whine about creating and not scoring if you want but the fact that we mustered over 40 shots on goal against Stoke and Norwich (games we should have won) is a marked improvement over deserving to lose against them, something we were accustomed to not so long ago. Anyone remember being outplayed at home against the likes of Reading and Wolves? Like I said, all we can do is to keep creating opportunities and the goals will come. Does everyone who comments on games actually watch the game?

Added on October 25, 2011, 9:42 amI've been patiently waiting for the outcome of the Evra - Suarez row. What has become of it? Evra had accused Suarez of being racially abusive and that he had uttered a racist word 10 times and that the ref, Andre Marriner knows what Suarez said. If this is so, why hasn't Mr. Marriner come forth? Why did he not send Suarez off? Where is the video evidence? He said it 10 times and I'm sure a camera would have picked up on it. Action needs to be taken against someone, so who is in the wrong here?

i think Evra has more things to worry about...like why he didnt turn up last Sunday. If its true Fergie gave the whole team a roasting, i think he is one of them prime meat ..

Kenny to sell Carroll back ?

Was talking to a fellow Kop fan this morning and he gave me this link for view and it shocked me but i think the media is just putting pressure on KD to let him off..

i know most of the whining is a kneejerk reactions but creating chances while not converting them is a legitimate thing to worry about. i know the goal will come but it clearly shows that suarez needs help upfront. the defenders are marking him like crazy so we need a poacher like striker that can exploit that free space left behind. carrol is not that type of striker and only kuyt come close.. but not critical enough.

the inability to keep a clean sheet is more worrisome, innit? carra and skrtel have been struggling against team with big players. its been our achilles heels for quite some time after hyppia left. we seems to patched the aerial threat a bit when soto was playing but he's unpredictable from open play. should we ease coates in against team like norwich and stoke? he's big and agile from what i saw of his limited playing time. plus he's a national team captain so i guess pressure is something he already used to.

whats your take on it?

Goals win games in the end, I get it. I also get that becoming title contenders once again isn't an overnight process. We need to manage our own expectations and look towards signs of improvement. As it stands we are unbeaten at home in 9 games or so, and achievement of sorts if you consider how even mid-tables sides used to come to Anfield playing for 3 points just last season. Now even Man Utd were cautious and adopted a cautious formation. Not finishing opportunities that come our way isn't about tactics or formations. It's about the player so I don't get the criticism leveled at how we shape up on the field. It seems Suarez can do anything but finish at the moment and it is a concern but again, it has nothing to do with tactics. Possibly confidence but if this is so, it is only temporary. We've smacked the post in half the games we've played this season and on any other given day the ball may have found itself in nestled in the back of the net, instead of ricocheting wide. The transfer window is closed for the moment so we've to work with what we have. Keep this up and the goals will come I say.

Defensively, we've been loose but I also attribute that to the fact we're pushing forward more and throwing caution to the wind at times. Enrique and whoever plays at right back, surge forward at each given opportunity. It's the reason we've been creating so many opportunities. Like I said some days back, our back four looks exposed at times. I don't think it's totally down to Carra or Skrtel. We were conceding even with Agger in the side. I've never thought that Skrtel was strong in the air and in fact, I think he looks like he has lead in his feet. Carra's just over 6' tall and he'll struggle against bigger centre forwards, this is a given. Nothing he can do about his stature. We are prone in the air and this I agree with. Will Coates make a difference? Well he's bloody tall and I hope he's a better header of the ball than Peter Crouch. Not seen much of him but he does look off the pace a little. I reckon it's going to take him some time to adjust to the speed of the Premiership just like Alonso had to. In summary, I think we need better cover for the back four and maybe adopt a more cautious approach to games as negative as that sounds. I like the pairing of Carra and Agger and I hope the latter has returned to full fitness. I always get the feeling that Skrtel is a disaster waiting to happen. He gives away silly fouls and the way he grabs players during setpieces, you get a sense that it's only a matter of time before he starts giving away more penalties.

I agree that we need to adopt a more cautious tactics in certain games. As much as I like the team to attack like crazy, it couldn't be help if we let the opponents scores on counter attack too. remind me of evans years.

For me, Skrtel has progress a little bit this season although unconsistent at times. I guess once Coates familiarized with PL he will be above Skrtel in the pecking order.

I too, agree that Agger is the best partner for Carra atm and has the ability to become one of the best in game. Too bad his fitness is not on par with his potential. I afraid he, along with Johnson, Kelly and Aurelio is the kind of players thats not gonna play 20 straight games for us.

RE: Liverpool's shaky defense
I really think it is mostly carra's fault (blasphemy, I know) but his inability to play the ball and his lack of pace means our defensive line is just outside the penalty box when we push forward. Long ball tactics (as we've seen already this season) has caused us problems because our defensive line is too close to the danger area! But without carra, our defense won't be as organized as he is a natural leader and communicator. Also we have yet to find a replacement for sammi to have that aerial presence in the box (coates maybe but still early days, fancy a debut for him vs stoke)
