I missed the show, but i managed a replay. what i couldn't understand was the substitutions. It seems that we went from Formation A to Formation B and Formation C every time we made a substitution.

I am a pro when it comes to rotation, but clearly the first substitution nearly killed off our game. It was for whatever reason lucky that Johnson managed to score (I mean he can, but he doesn't always score, does he?)

we seem a tad stronger with 'foreign' over 'english' lads overall but non the less, it was good johnson nick it late. baffled KD tongue.gif on why GJ did what he did, but he was bought for his attacking support from the back. (sure KD said it in a jest smile.gif )

i think in a way it went according to plan, we play away. no often any team could sustain tempo 90 mins so its understandable chelsea came in strong in 2nd (but we could do away lapses). Chelsea is still a reckoned team despite how the critics feel. (partial transitional phase for then)

kudos to bellamy, maxi, adam & lucas.

next week it will be tough game, i hope win this will give something for MC (& mancini) to think about. we too have to be on guard on the silky silva. hope our tricky suarez, nippy bellamy/maxi will offer some headache to their defence (MC)

the momentum will be just about right to catch the pack. somehow i feel the trolls/phantom fans would much welcome our attempt on MC's march next week. whistling.gif

What a way to cap off a thoroughly exhausting weekend for me. Made my way up to Penang for the marathon on Saturday morning and stayed awake for 32 straight hours before driving back down to KL and getting 2 hrs of sleep before the big game. Sleep is for the weak. Gratefully, the energetic performance from the lads was contagious and I felt no signs of fatigue. The win was a perfect way to cap off an exhilarating but energy sapping weekend.

As usual I'll summarise my thoughts in point form.

a) We played with a lot of energy and pressed Chelsea whenever they were on the ball. It's the reason we managed to win the ball off them so many times. Each time one of our lads pressed, another would come to provide support making it difficult for them to keep the ball. Chelsea switched formation in the 2nd half with the introduction of Sturridge and I was wondering why it was taking us so long to change ours as we were being pressed back. Made a whole lot of sense to me introducing Hendo in place of Bellamy was we needed more bodies in the middle.

b) Skrtel was in good form. It says something that Drogba's best effort came from a free kick.

c) Lucas was both tireless and fearless in closing down the opposition and going in for challenges.

d) Kuyt covered well for Johnson whenever the latter went on one of his rampaging runs down the flank. Did someone say it's the first time he's seen the attacking side of Glenn Johnson? Err Johnson is all about attacking and I find this comment a little surprising. In fact I've seen more positive attacking performances from him than defensive ones. Good composed from him nonetheless. Good that he got a goal against his former employers when two other blokes couldn't.

e) If you closed your eyes you'd think we were playing at Anfield. All I heard the whole game was chants of, "Dalglish", and numerous renditions of "Fields of Anfield Road", and "Champione", even just after Chelsea had equalized. Yea yea we always talk about our fans but just like people talk about their best players, we talk about our best performers and the away fans were if you ask me, once again contenders for the MOM award. To the 12 Man!

Winning an away game is great but if only we could do the same at home....

What impress me the most is the Suarez chant during the match, "do do do do do ..... Luiz Suarez". i can hear it very clearly from the highlight. And of course the YNWA at the end of the match notworthy.gif

I really like how Suarez nutmegged Luiz and Johnson nutmegged Cole,I even saw Lucas did a dribbling skill.

We didn't even fear although play away from home.

1st half was very good. we kick them all over the fields. kenny get the team selection right. we looks very dangerous when attacking.

then 2nd start with chelsea changing the tactics we were very slow to adjust costing us the goal. then there was that crucial save from pepe. if he didn't save the header most probably we will lost the game. i thought pepe is very good as captain.

hendo subs was the correct one because bellamy not very effective anymore and we need to stop chelsea in the middle of the park. after the sub we managed to level the field.

next is a tougher test.. with this win only boost their confidence

It was a lovely performance by us. Not the very best but good enough to nick a win. Very happy that Maxi scored, lovely one-twos and the way we pressed aggressively to force Chelsea into making an error is something we need to do more often. And you get that by playing Maxi, Suarez and Kuyt. But i can see the logic of not playing them all the time given their age and fitness level.

And Glen gliding into the box and cooly scoring the winner was simply beautiful. smile.gif He's a top fullback when he wants to be.
