and i always thought that why south american players rarely thrive in england is because its a more physical league and not as technical as say the spanish league

THIS!!!!...thats what make him so different...he'll blossom in central of the park...in attacking role to be more precise..but he'll struggle when playing on the right side nod.gif  nod.gif

Hendo actually has the energy to play anywhere in the middle. I still remember when I first caught him in TV was him coming on as a sub against us for Sunderland. So full of energy that he tore our defense wide open few times. He is great in going forward but as a midfielder, he should know more than just attacking. The defending side of him is horrible and thus playing as a wide right midfielder which requires him to cover for his fullback mates make him look like a horrible player. He is actually one with potential but he has to learn and improve on his weakness. I have little doubt on his offensive side. It's the defensive side that's worrying.

Anyway, the same could be said on Carrol. Full of energy for Newcastle and do not look the same at our club either. Wondering what happened.Sigh

we knew that henderson plays a better football at midfield. if we can realise it, wad makes u guys think that king kenny and whole first team coaches wouldnt see it? There is always a reason for the moves they did.

That may be true but my example of South America is parallel with your example of Africa and why players who come from there don't complain. I'm saying they have similar reasons in that they are moving away from a harsh environment into a comparative life of luxury. It's different if you are moving between say England and Spain. In terms of football I think it's becoming easier for South American players to settle compared to when the likes of Juninho played for Middlesborough simply because of the increasing number of foreign coaches and managers.

there can be loads of factors. weather, economics, culture, food, entertainment. most players learn to adapt, because its normal for a football player to be playing abroad and into new surroundings

my definition of strength in depth is proper backup for every position, not playing players out of position. while its ok if it works, its not when its not. but i dont think we should look at possible transfer for any player with the view of changing their position, unless there is something we believe we see

Torres scored for fun when played for Liverpool but no where near prolific for Spain. Different systems, different results.

International football vs PL is totally different.

League football can be more competitive than international football, despite international football choose the top players around.
In fact league football has more fluency, more determination showed most of the time.

Added on November 12, 2011, 4:17 pmIn league, managers have all the time and most of the time to train the player, analyse how opponent players play, get use how opponent player play, and can go in very details.

Somemore, PL can be more physical, and unlike international football, some body check may not get you a foul in league.
Also more pace, more intense.
