chances we can create, but if we dont take them, it will come back to haunt us. again we have to ask after evaluating the season so far. how many match winners that we really do have. how many players that we can sub on and make the opposition worry.

unfortunately in a season without any european distractions, we look like challenging for top 4 rather than the title. as for now, we dont look like title contenders. just being realistic

i just worry that when we really bang in 'em goals, our target is either too far away or is already out of reach.

i dont think i can be satisfied with 29 chances and still cant win. simply not good enough

now our obsession with signing english or english based players seem more n more like foolish move...

whenever we have big striker in the team, the team plays too many high balls. surely KD is wiser than that? the carroll investment start to feel like a mistake

no wonder KD had begun to talk about january transfer funds. at this rate, we are fast becoming an expensive top-4-outsider team

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Oct 23 2011, 02:47 PM)
I don't think Skrtel nor Carragher are primary culprits here. Yes, Carra has made a couple of defensive mistakes and Skrtel lacks awareness but have you noticed that each time opponents run at us, it seems they have so much space? If anything, I think we leave Carra and Skrtel exposed on too many occasions. Forget about Holt's goal yesterday. He is as big as a bull and came charging towards the ball. Few defenders would have beaten him to the ball. Error from Reina if anyone and he even flattened Carra in the process. However it wouldn't have mattered as much if we scored.

Now who are we to blame for creating so many chances and not putting them away? I see everyone calling for changes to be made but I believe that you have to play a player to confidence. Who are we to drop? Suarez has missed arguably the most chances out of anyone, so does this mean we drop him? No, because he contributes on other areas and we play him till he regains his sharpness in front of goal because let's face it, he's been missing some pretty decent sitters. However some would disagree as creating chances doesn't seem to matter so long as we don't score. So drop Suarez then. What is the point in twisting and turning and creating chances but not putting them away? My point is that the whole team is creating opportunities and it is only a matter of time before we start putting them away. Does no one see a marked improvement over last season here?

we need a more clinical finisher up front

in the pre-season, aquilani DID say he wants to play for liverpool. henry also likes him. but it seems KD and comoli doesn't favor him.many people think simply because he's not english. and from what I've seen until today, KD and comoli's preference to english players didn't do Liverpool any good. spent millions but still lower than tottenam (as of current, since tot 2 -1 blackburn) with tottenham have one game in hand. and liv's game is boring to watch - no creativity, defence leaking like paip bocor. if Liv didn't qualify for UCL next season, i hope at the very least comoli should be sacked.

boring and lack technical ability equals boring team

everyone makes mistakes. even KD

we have to admit. we did a mistake spending 35m on AC. with 35m, we could have bought anyone (well, almost anyone). well its just me. seeing AC on the pitch rarely excites me that much. too much promise? perhaps. our only poachers, kuyt is getting old, maxi not playing. who else we have? we are in serious situation. we are not just drawing too many, we are not scoring. wait till gerrard comes back? who know, he is getting vulnerable, hopefully not another aurelio. hendo is how old? 20? how come he gets all the playing time in the world and not some other promising youngsters?

hendo, downing, maybe adam, and carroll, all need some bench time. play some youngsters? why not. this is a transition season after all correct? sometimes i dont know what are we going for this season. top 4? are we even serious?

QUOTE(cherroy @ Nov 6 2011, 01:53 PM)
AC purchased was/wasn't mistake, we can't look from this angle.
It is not the like you have time, scouse for player like during summer transfer window.

Torres want out, and there was 50 million offer on the table.
Henry has said before, it is about Torres price that dictate the AC price the club willing to pay.

At that time, there was little time left for negotiation, while Liv was on bottom half of table, with threat of relegation battle as well.

No spent on the 50 mil received on prospect player can mean fighting in relegation zone, which is dangerous/humilating for the club.
Also, not every player is available during winter window, it is not the like you have money, already can buy whoever player, opposition club may not agree to sell, the player may not want to come either.
After all, AC was on fire and scored a number of goals (one of top scorers before Dec) as well prior before the transfer, it looks one of most promising prospect.
Somemore he had aerial ability which Liv at that time, has almost none with Kyut as sole strike (if included Ngog), only 2 recognised striker only.
You need to rush to the transfer, no time to see whether the mistake or not.
After all, not every new purchased of player will turn good one, most club did at least more than 5 transfer during summer, and mostly 1-2 turn good only, due to various kind of reason, including other big club.

Top 4 may be too distance away, but at least this year, constantly at top 6-7, with gap open up the rest 8-10 place.
It is not the like Liv is playing badly like last year.
It is about not clinical enough in front of goal, and taking chance that created, and inability to keep clean sheet to win 1-0.
There are a number of matches that Liv should kill off the opponent early on, from the match against Sunderland, to against Norwich, turn those a few draw into the win, the league position/points tally can be totally different as now.

indeed time will tell whether its sound investment
looking at the money we spent and the current results (ie scoring none or scoring too few), does it not sound like the rafa times when we used to buy so many players and only a few worked? the difference now is we are made to trust in the comolli system and a generous owner. because we spent too much money on the recent signings, we have no choice but to use them on the pitch. does it sound like a burden if downing were to be bought for just 10 mil? probably not. he had to justify his price tag and to be on the pitch. problem is, the money we paid was overprice. same with henderson. young prospect. carroll. bench him for too long will create a whole lot of stories. so we spent our summer recruiting all these slightly better than average players, being fed with 'no european distraction' stuff bla bla bla. seriously...

if we are wiling to give flanagan chances, why no other young players? i just dont get it with the persistence of downing and henderson. underperdorming with no real contributions...

35 million for an english prospect = panic buy. no matter what kind of excuse we are being fed with. heck not even rooney costs that much.

and heck. arsenal is right behind us, and spurs still have some advantage. so when are we going to give an honest assessment? with 10 games remaining?

Can someone tell me what is the benefit of this buy british policy? Why is it nationality is preferred over ability?

And the excuse given is they will settle easily and premiership proven.

Now the excuse given for all the poor results is that the team is yet to gel.Guess what aguero mata have all settled

while ours was supposed to take a much shorter time.Disgusted with such policy.

familiar je orang orang ni. orang penang ka?

btw. i would crave to see maxi and bellamy playing in place of downing and especially henderson. for a few games. substandard display from youngster like henderson, and getting subbed and bad review, would it do any good for the youngster?

It's not the goals i'm worried about, it's the unpredictable form. I don't mind winning ugly but depending on some jammy goals to secure a victory is the path towards mediocrity. Maybe we are mediocre at the moment, maybe the good performances are actually the hyde form - the unnatural form. Whatever it is, we need to buck up fast because the other 4th place rivals are already in superior form and consistency. Finishing outside the 4th place will be a disaster. Unless we win some trophies.

Even Agger notices the unpredictable form:

Yes, I never disagree the focus is top 4, but realistically, just after last year languishing at relegation zone, and just spent a couple of ten millions (may be 50 million+ AC+ Suarez), changed 5-6 players, and a manager, suddenly become a steady top 4 candidate?
Also, it looks like the whole team need to be "overhauled" all together, Carra and Gerrard are getting old.

It is not an easy task, somemore other clubs also has the financial power to buy new/good players.
2 Manchester club almost like 99% will finish the top 2, only left 2 place, Chelsea seems can make it despite a couple of poor result, left 1 for Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, black horse Newcastle, Villa.

And realistically, in term of fire-power, attacking play, threat to opponent, in general Liv still behind Arsenal and Spurs.

I don't buy no European match can make you better in league.  smile.gif
Yes, European match can make the team distract a bit, but no European match doesn't make you better.

Liv need to built up the financial power to stay at top 4. 40+k stadium is not enough.
Modern day football need plenty of $$ to stay on top.

how come one mediocre year has lowered your expectations that much? we belong to the champions league. 5 time winners. we are a sleeping giant. not time to fall even further from a top4 to a top 7 or top 10... no offense notworthy.gif

the facts are:

we most probably overspent/overvalued on average players
we get results below expectations
we seem to have 'obligation' to play expensive players

its ok to feel optimistic. but facts are facts. i'm not being pessimistic

dont think torres can ever play for liverpool ever again, unless he REALLY taubat...

anyway we are linked with Villa. for the sum of around 35-40m now this is the kind of money we spent on Carroll

still at mamak. just teh tarik talk. not yet bedtime. far from it...

just give KD time, and lower the expectation. then anything else will feel like a bonus. pray the stock of youngster that we have will ive up to their promise, and hope to be a force again in a few seasons to come. until then, lets hope all other talents elsewhere can still find us attractive enough even though we may not get major success in this period

one thing to remember is, nowadays, its almost necessary to invest in proven talent to be successful. and without being successful, its hard to attract talent, old or young, of which, may go to more successful rival in which, may continue their legacy of success

success can bring to more success. the manu model is an example. its a legacy of success. the other model is the mancity model. money brings success. i think we are somewhat like the arsenal model (at least it beginning to look like it). how will it turn up?

yeah, do you guys think easily for him to leave Barca that are the best club in the world now to joining Liverpool?

we cant even be at the top 4 and dont have any euro games.

imho, wish Rafa manage Liverpool back seems only him can make a good buy and game play that suits Liverpool style..

Spaniard player > English player.

p/s: I'm not telling KD are bad manager.. fully respect to him  notworthy.gif

which is why we need to spend wisely. the kind of money we spent up till now, how many real quality signings did we had?probably suarez n enrique?

villa probably wont choose us. success is a big attraction to player, other than salary of course. successful clubs are able to pay big wages. its all the economics of things. spend and be successful, dont spend and be mediocre.

Not everyone like silva matador aguero. Liverpool is moving on the right track. U can't expect everyone producing instant impact or immediate effect. I would say give faith and we will see them shine in the future. However in fact now they are in the club. We shouldn't condemn like low class fans act. Show that u are a kop. smile.gif

i dont condemn anyone, just been asking for some players to be dropped because they are not performing smile.gif
