I an gonna start drilling my walls to install many many things.
But the problem is that the guy that did my wiring and piping run away already after renovation vmad.gif
and I am left with no piping diagram on where the pipes or wiring are inside the walls. doh.gif
Thought of getting a something like this

Wallscanner D-tect 100 Professional
http://www.bosch-pt.com.my/papocs-my/Produ...&object_id=7097

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w48r-c4i22c

Where to rent this?? buying is just too pricey.

Any other suggestion on how to avoid drilling in to pipes and wires hidden behind the wall?

No need this kind of tool lah. Just drill. The chance to kena the wire in the wall is very very less. Just follow this rule.

1) don't drill above or below the wall light in straight line.
2) don't drill below the socket in straight line.
3) don't drill above the switch light in straight line.

I drill and instal DIY for my home. Never kena anything in the wall. Just follow this rule.

For pipe, it is about the same. Pipe is straight too and bend out when joint to tap. Most of the piping is below and not running above your basin level. So don't drill below tap. Don't drill above and below the stop kok in straight line.

if im not mistaken..

electrical always comes down from ceiling in straight line..

and for lighting point dont drill horizontal/vertical to the wall

water piping is from the bottom usually follow the same rules as electrical in some sense

electrical wire to socket mostly from below. As the socket place 1ft up from floor. So it is kind of waste the wire lenght to lay from ceiling down. For wall light, yes. It come down from ceiling.

Light switch wire mostly is from top. Cause the wire is to the ceiling light.

So far I haven't see any wire lay horizontol. Unless the socket is loop very near.

Why you have very less kena the wire when drill is, if the wire lay inside the conduit, when the drill bit kena the wire, the wire will move away. Cause the drill bit is rotate at high speed and the wire is round with flexibility. Unless no room for the wire move.

For piping, mostly run horizontol from tap to tap to toilet bow to shower. Just watch carefully around the height of the toliet bow inlet water. And the height of the inlet hole for sink tap. Piping don't bend up or down alot as it require many elbow and cost $. And it cause the pressure low too.

sr, izzit only the particular hole or all. and you might hit the steel bar, the only option is to drill another place.

Hi,

Above window always have concrete lintel. So difficult to drill. Anyway, if installing wall plug only need around 1.5" depth sufficient, and usually the steel bars ussed are 6 or 8 mm or even 10mm.
Sometimes using a wood mallet can also determine whether the area being knocked Is concrete or just bricks from the sound. If heavy thud that means concrete, if hollow then it must be brick.

All the best...
