hi all just wanna ask about electrical sander .. where shud i get it from ?
are those from MR DIY any good or shud i look at HomePro / CT hardware ?

and any big difference between orbital sander n the detail sander ??
*
This link should help you to get a rough understanding of what type of sanders and their role.
http://www.popularmechanics.com/home/tools.../a3791/4294737/

If you are just using sanders occasionally, Mr DIY sander also usable.

I think between those branded sander and those generic sander, the cheaper one vibrates more and make it uncomfortable to use for long hours.

lets say i have 6 house doors to sand down ???
Mr DIY selling at RM 130+ only

if your door got square edge to sand then you'll need a sander with square base.
Mr. DIY should be usable for 6 doors. Btw Mr DIY sander is square or round?

yea all basic flat piece of door biggrin.gif

Hmm, in that case the orbital sander can be a good choice.
Personally I will get both as I dunno which project need to do edge sanding in future.

Btw my belt sander also Ferm brand.

ic biggrin.gif nice .. how long have u used urs ..
thanks for ur info btw

Hmm.. maybe 2 months? I just started this woodworking hobby not too long.
I mostly use the belt sander to flatten jointed pallet boards.

Btw, wear mask or do your sanding in well ventilated area.
Those fine dust from sanding will give you dry nose and sore throat.

Forgot to check the bit clearance until it cuts into the bench dog? Buts seems still usable mah.

What is this latest project of yours? Is this meranti?
*
Still usable but feel sad coz damaged.
The wood is meranti. I always keep some 1x2 meranti for projects. They're cheap compare to spruce.

Just finish a storage space for my router & accessories. Now I don't need to dig for the router box in the storeroom every time I want to use router.
Attached Image

Next project will probably be an air cleaner (I have an extra ventilation fan) box with top to put my drill press.

Projects that I want to do
1) Holders for powertool (many) or maybe drawers.
2) Sandpaper/sander rack
3) A general table to hold miter saw/benchtop belt sander (maybe a flip top table?)
4) Shoe rack
5) Mail organization rack
6) Finish up my table saw trolley
7) Crosscut sled, so I can retire my miter saw. room need more space arrrr
8) Rails on my worktop (see example http://www.rockler.com/rockler-t-track-table-top)
9) Small table/storage in car posh to put gardening thing and spray can/ paint..

Hmm can keep myself busy for quite long time liao

Well done !  Retire your mitre saw, meaning you will be using a table saw instead?
*
My crosscuts are mostly 90 deg anyway.
Non 90 deg cuts are actually made on the bandsaw.

With a crosscut sled a table saw can cut 90 deg no problem.

A shaper (for router bit adapter) vs a well made router table.
Hmm... hard to decide
I pre budgeted shipping by sea is rm450 per cubic meter.

Shaper - Grizzly OEM? RM1.3k
Comes with adapter to use 1/4" and 1/2" router bits.
Very heavy at 80kg.

Cast iron router table with build in motor. RM800
This brand is well known in China for weekend DIYer. sweat.gif Many cheaper machine sold in Malaysia are from this manufacturer.
Weights about 30kg.

Router lift mechanism, RM600. Have to buy own router, make the table & fence. Bosch GOF1600CE is about rm1.6k?
This option no need to spend too much on shipping.

Awesome full set router table with awesome price. RM3.2k

Made a crosscut sled over the long weekend.
Surprisingly nice to use.
The accuracy is about 0.2mm variance on straight line cut.

Crosscut capacity is 12 inch with the saw cover on. With saw cover off can crosscut up to 22 inch.
Miter saw can go to storeroom soon.

added additional guard and paint in red to warn against putting hand there.

I think you need to look for a garage for your wood tools.

You don't have anymore space for your wood working. biggrin.gif

Ya... have to figure out the space for the incoming router table rclxub.gif

which router solution you decided to go with? For me, being weekend DIY and mostly only have learning access from online, I would only go with the router+table way
*
Now still deciding on whether that shaper or the JMR40.

The shaper is a well know product but damn heavy at 80kg. The shaper turns at 10k rpm dunno not sure its really ok to use small router bits.
Induction motor is quiet tho.

The JMR-40 have so-so review only but light weight at 30kg. With universal motor I am expecting this thing to be loud.

Leaning more towards the JMR-40 tho coz I don't really use routers that often.

Made this tool hanger for my circular saw using scrap wood and cut offs.
Only 2 large tools involved, the table saw with sled and bandsaw.
Spend about 2 hours after work to make it. biggrin.gif

Bosch enthusiasm here (photo for proof). Pm me too where to get. Looking for brushless 18V GSB, mini hand saw and router too..
*
Bosch got Mini hand saw?

I have that mini grinder, actually not bad for doing small DIY metal cutting job. More powerful than a dremel and not sound so scary like the biggger version. Small body easy to hold also.

Buying from Taobao.

1) 2 feet straight guide for cutting smaller piece of wood and routing dado.
2) Master/slave controller to connect tools and dust collector
3) Some cheap non-halal paint brush. Use a few time throw.
4) Transparent base for my making router. But need to get extra lock screw parts.
5) Gooseneck with clamps so I can control the direction of the dust collection hose on drill press.

Attached Image

Will make a better looking hose holder, now looking for ideas.
