Does anyone know of any place at KL/Klang valley that sell core Drill Machine at great price ?

I'm only planning to core drill 4-5 Dia4" x 300-4000 deep holes & 4-5 Dia3" x 300-4000 deep holes.

Thanks

Is it cheaper if you just ask the contractor to do it for you? Instead or renting and buying the drill.

Probably rarely gonna drill holes in concrete. Even so will probably drill holes to screw in for shelves or racks and picture frames and such. Nothing too extreme.

You reckon still need to get a rotary?
*
For your simple job, just get a hammer drill. Like bosh GSB13RE or GSB10RE. It can drill concrete and wood and metal. But too powerfull for screw driving.

For screw driving, get the GSB 10,8-2-LI Professional. No need GDR1440. GSB 10,8-2-LI Professional can use for drilling metal and wood and brick. But not concrete.

Both is enough for your job.

Thanks for the info! Will keep an eye on the hammer drill when I need it!

Between the GDR1440 and GSB10,8-2-LI... Why do you recommend the latter? Is it because GDR1440 overkill for screw driving? or it doesn't fit with my usage?
*
Actually GSB13RE or GSB10RE is a must for any renovation or start a home for small DIY.

The battery running type is optional. You can use screw driver anytime.

1. GDR1440 is for contractor use which require heavy duty and long working time. Overkill for you.
2. It is much more heavy. Not suitable for beginner.
3. It have less function compare the GSB10,8-2-LI. See at the chuck side. GDR1440 mainly for impact screw driver. It can't hold a drill bit. And can't drill a hole on metal and wood. So it doesn't bang for your money.

The bosch my website is useless. Doesn't give much more information. It is difficult to select and understand for beginner.

You can take a closure look at similar thing here https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2234276/+480

Just wanna share my diy experience:

Recently had to do some drilling for my tv wall bracket and other bathroom accessories. Went to hardware shop wanted to source for used rotary hammer drill. It's about 200ish for makita or bosch. No warranty.

But shop owner suggested to get brand new cheap one dat costs less than rm200. At least he said got warranty for few months.

So I bought it, and man it did all da drilling job I needed to do with much ease and effort. (fyi, i was using my impact drill at first. But gave up.)

Blue one da new rotary hammer drill.
[attachmentid=4738351]
Orange color my impact drill.

Strange. Why the Makita and bosch no warranty ?

Hi all!

Im about to buy an impact drill. Whats the difference between GSB 500RE and GSB 10RE?
*
If not mistaken, the drill itself is same. But gsb500re is bundle with kits. While gsb10re is only the drill selling.

*
There is no different. Probably different country model no.

But you better get a higher model like GSB13RE. This 10re are not that powerfull drill.

Where can I find GSB13RE? Just came back from Ace Hardware and all they had was GSB500RE. Online also cant find, only found GSB16RE.
*
I check on their website http://www.bosch-pt.com.my/my/en/impact-dr...-re-131432.html

Just go to any bosch dealer and check. Hardware shop. If no stock, order from them.

I wonder if GSB 13RE is the same as GBM 13RE?
*
GBM 13RE is just a drill function. Which is only for metal and wood. Doesn't have impact function for wall drilling.

Hi everybody,

Want to ask a noob question, do the cordless 10.8v combi drills really can drill into walls? I'm in the market for a cordless drill and like the size of the bosch gsb and gsr 10.8v li-2. Any owners of a gsb 10.8v can vouch for wall drilling? just to hang shelves/cabinet/toilet fittings. I already own a gsb10re but would love the cordless. Or should i just get the gsr 10.8 and match it with the gsb10re?
*
Get the gsb 10.8v and match the GSB10RE. GSB10.8 can't use for wall. Only for drilling and screw driving.

Cordless for wall is slow.

Thanks Ozak, appreciate the input. Just for discussion sake, at what voltage point would a cordless impact drill be able to drill holes in malaysian walls?
*
Those 18v cordless impact drill can drill concrete. But don't expecting it as powerfull as cord type and do the job fast. It is not as cheap as cord type too.

All this power tools here are running on 18v battery. Some require 2x battery to get the power to work.

Cordless power tools are getting popular. Wait a bit longer for the technology and you get a more powerfull tools. It is coming. Price too will get cheaper. But not at the moment.

You can't see much this cordless powertools here. But it already getting common in western. The price cheap for them. But not us. cry.gif

Break it also can. Not break it also can. If not break it, it will be tricky to open it.

This 9.6v drill/driver enough torque or not?

[attachmentid=4900995][attachmentid=4901000]
*
If you just want to assembly some wood and screw something, this 1 is ok. Drilling metal have to be smaller hole, thinner and a bit longertime. Max speed is only 700rpm.

The torque is not much. Only 7.5N. Generally torque for screw driving is around 4N for a diameter of 4mm.

For battery, maybe not lithium.

QUOTE(zeronuker @ Sep 6 2015, 07:46 PM)
Bought a GSB 16RE and started drilling into my home walls to mount some shelves. Very happy with its power.

Just a question, I was happy drilling away and mounting my stuff till I drilled one hole. No matter how hard I push into the wall, the drill won't go any deeper. Tried to light up the hole to see whats inside but can't. Any explanation? Did I hit into some metal bar or something? Its just a regular wall, don't think its load bearing.
*
The drill bit kena the some steel bar. You can't do anything but drill another hole. Sometime you would able to see some spark coming out. There is also possible that meet some hard concrete stone.

Concrete drill bit good at concrete wear (grind wear) but not sharp enough for metal drilling. Compare both drill bit tip, and you can understand.
