The cost is too high.....
Thinking of buying china cheap, already assembled units now.
Less fun, but easier on the pocket.
Solar Power Generation, for home use/sell back to tnb

QUOTE(enduser @ Mar 20 2018, 11:57 AM) After their sturdy back, it actually only increase about 5% overall. The price is still going down every yrs. A 5% increase for this yrs is just a small hiccup in the graph. But what got to do with here ? Malaysia is no.2 or 3 in solar panel EXPORT only. I don't see gov encourage for domestic consumption. This is bad for local economy. |

QUOTE(easywin3 @ Mar 20 2018, 12:57 PM) I think this is pretty normal. Even some US state have some local law to side utility company. But people have freedom more there. If we want more voice and say, we need a bigger community. |

solar business in Malaysia is going the way of the big boys only.
The PIC has designated Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) to be the authority to allocate Solar quota. Not Seda anymore. ST is now looking at 5 to 50 MW. The first launch was 2017 under LSS1 (Large Scale Solar #1). The results of LSS2 was a few months ago. Only big boys...think of Petronas, TNB, Listed companies. There is some quota under Net Energy Metering for house owners but its not profitable. Very little interest in it. QUOTE(ozak @ Mar 20 2018, 11:52 AM) |

Something like YTL sell energy to TNB. Investing such company require cable and songlaping. For individual, it left as a hobby or interest. With price still in high side due to mostly parts are import, there won't be large crowd of people interest on it. The energy cost is still pretty low here. I wonder untill what level of the cost that we consider are expensive and worth to look at others solution like solar. |

Malaysian electricity price to cheap.
about USD14.7cent/kwh (0.57 sen / 3.9 USD/MYR)........................compare with the world........we are chip chip.............................https://www.statista.com/statistics/263492/electricity-prices-in-selected-countries/ Solar electricity expensive. Note that Germany is one of the most expensive in terms of electricity cost and no wonder that its a world leader in Solar RE as well. From that perspective, i think that solar development for individual home owner has passed the peak when SEDA offered tariffs as high as RM1.6/kwh compared to the latest LSS bidding when it was below 40sen / kwh........returns only dropping for solar players...... maybe when Malaysia electricity nearer to Germany's electricity price (USD33 cents/kwh) then only will Solar pick up again ...... Even double up our current energy price 0.218 will take very long. That sound good. There is no reason to invest on others source of energy like solar anymore. Accept the reason of green and pollution. |

One question:
Anyone knows where or who to contact for lithium-ion batteries for solar power. Looking for a 10kw system. |

QUOTE(Kiding @ Apr 20 2018, 12:26 AM) That is RM22k. Ok wor, consider reasonable price. With shipping, tax and installation probably RM1.9k perkwh. I m DIY 6kwh bank. Probably cost RM900 perkwh. (initial calculate). Already accumulate 700pcs cells. |

Any one knows how to order from Australia? You can try at aliexpress. Plenty lithium battery there. Makesure don’t get the fake wan. Shipping is costly for big lithium battery. If it over certain size if not mistaken. As much as the battery price. |

Hi Guys,
Will it be feasible if i plan to add a hybrid solar system to run household items that is on 24/7 ie the fridge? The idea is to have solar panel, "inverter+charge controller" and a battery. The inverter+charge controller will have to be able to switch between solar power to battery power to grid.... So in a normal sunny day it will use solar to charge batter and power the fridge, once solar is inadequate it will switch to battery, then when battery power kaput it will switch to grid.......the size of the battery can be determined by using the most efficient $$ per ahr |
