QUOTE(Student111 @ Apr 23 2018, 12:27 PM) Hi Guys, Such controller are custom and expensive. Will it be feasible if i plan to add a hybrid solar system to run household items that is on 24/7 ie the fridge? The idea is to have solar panel, "inverter+charge controller" and a battery. The inverter+charge controller will have to be able to switch between solar power to battery power to grid.... So in a normal sunny day it will use solar to charge batter and power the fridge, once solar is inadequate it will switch to battery, then when battery power kaput it will switch to grid.......the size of the battery can be determined by using the most efficient $$ per ahr Unless you can write the prg to controll it. Pi or arduino able to controll. |

QUOTE(ozak @ Apr 23 2018, 04:23 PM) Such controller are custom and expensive. Just wondering out loud, would it not possible to adapt a back up power unit like UPS to do this? So solar to charge and priority load on solar, then solar power kaput switch load to battery.....the challenge is how to "instruct" it to switch to grid when battery kaput (and no solar)....Unless you can write the prg to controll it. Pi or arduino able to controll. Is this kind of device available in other countries? I travel a fair bit within Asia and Europe, so if it is available i can stow away in my luggage.. |

In western side, such unit already have. It called hybrid inverter. Victron is 1 of the famous brand in EU. Is this kind of device available in other countries? I travel a fair bit within Asia and Europe, so if it is available i can stow away in my luggage.. There is also a simple unit charge controller that come in such function. This is 1 of the unit. ![]() Left 2 slot id for solar panel. next 2 slot for battery, next 2 slot for output to any thing and next 2 slot for input from grid. If panel no supply, it will switch to battery. If battery low, it will switch to input from grid. When sunlight up, will switch back to panel and charge the battery. |

Hi. For NEM, does it mean that during daytime, when the electricity is produced, we will use the generated electricity first. Only when there is surplus then it will be sold.
For night time, since no electricity is generated, means that we will be 100% using and without any surplus. Or is it total kwh produced - total kwh consumed in 1 month X RE cost? |

How safe is Lithium Ion batteries?
I'm going to put them underneath my roof, but it's ventilated. Do I still need other precautions? |

No point rush into it. The latest news is TNB pay for everything for hardware and install. Output = produce - consumption. And pay at market consumption rate. (The rate you're using now) |
