Used the 35mm f/1.4G a few times now, but don't remember about the f/1.8 DX.35mm f/1.4G isn't fast, more or less similar speed with 85mm f/1.4G.

Even if D5100 supports the new Extreme Pro, is it capable of writing/reading at 45MB/s?
I mean, take USB3.0 for example. Not all USB 3.0 devices are able to reach the maximum speed. Some not even able to use even half of the bandwidth. |

QUOTE(kianwee @ Nov 1 2011, 08:42 AM) Actually the price in Malaysia is expensive. I conducted a bulk 2 months ago for 16GB Kit from BHphoto (2x 16GB) for only RM250. That's RM125 for each. Problem with buying from BHphoto is when you need to warranty, you have to send it back to them. For Msia ones, its lifetime warranty from Vector. |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Nov 1 2011, 10:37 AM) I'd say avoid Fotokem, unless they offer you a good deal; Most of the time, they will cheat and lie to Customer, they'll do all sorts of tricks, like pretend checking their computer, or take calculator and "tok tok tok", scratch their head, look stress, then show you the price, which is still SO HIGH. Then maybe if you tell them the price you can get outside, they'll give you the shocking look and tell you, that's their cost price, maybe even show you their price list, and tell you they only earn you RM50, LOL EPIC Sandisk has 90MB/s SD card? o_O Isn't that the CF card? Then if they still want to push further they might tell you stories like outside probably giving FAKE battery, etc. all sorts of stories to convince you that their price is better and guarantee genuine. If you feel their acting is top notch, maybe you can buy from them as a complement to their first class acting. They're sometimes even better than some local actors. It supports UHS-1 and I think it should be ok. This is just the 45MB/s, and it's discontinued, replaced with 90MB/s version. |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Nov 1 2011, 12:32 PM) Yup, it depend on the accident, some the filter may not even protect. Oh, that's the SDXC right?Regardless, filter will affect the Image Quality; so its important to get a good quality filter, not because for better protection, but for retaining the image quality. Yes, new one, replacing 45MB/s version which is already discontinued, but the 90MB/s cost a bomb, about double the price. |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Nov 1 2011, 02:11 PM) Not simply blaming staff, it's multi-standard, 2 person asking can get different price, even same person different time can get different price; I know their want to earn more commission, etc. they're just doing business, I don't mind them earning a little more, I usually don't bargain like crazy, I 'm not those, even RM10 also wanna bargain, and I don't like to keep asking prices around and comapre, as long as the price is "reasonable", and the seller is honest and good/nice; but I hate when they pretend or trying to cheat the customer and do those acting/tricks, it's so obvious (moreover, if the Customer knows about camera well, and there's so many shop around; it's common sense). Well, it's sales people after all, they just fall into the typical sales people; but not everyone needs to be like this, they have a choice to be what kind of sales they want to be. Just like insurance seller, they can join the crowd and become the typical insurance seller who use the same tactic and trick on their customer and also their first victim is their family and friends, find some old no more contact friends, etc. or they can be something different. Seems like both SDXC and SDHC will have the 90MB/s version. They can target to sell 1 unit and earn big margin, or they can sell more units with less margin; Short-term thinking, if they sell and earn high margin, the person found out they've been conned, especially when their friend got from the SAME shop few hundred cheaper. What happen? Of course, they're like pushing luck that the Customer doesn't know and don't bother or won't do anything, well, most customer even they know, they don't do anything other, at most just complain, like me. And sometimes, they may not stay in the company for very long anyway. Well, anyway, it's how they wish to do their job; I can't stop them, but there's also nothing wrong to share experience and let more people aware of it. Their shop is famous and always full of customers anyway. ADDED: And you know what? I have a friend who work in sales line; Guess what? He's more aggressive when bargaining and he knows more about the inner workings of the system, he never believe their price is the lowest and will push more even already very low. So, who's wrong who's right? No, same 32GB UHS-1 90MB/s. the 45MB/s edition, it showed discontinued. SDXC is 64GB and above right? http://www.dpreview.com/news/1109/11091410sandisk95mbs.asp |

QUOTE(pandabiru @ Nov 1 2011, 11:32 PM) I'm a beginner myself but I think most 3rd party lens have this problem. Soft (especially at corners) at wide and sharp after closing down the aperture a bit. And with D7000 any imperfection with your lens will be easier to see compared to an older model say D90. Even the Nikkor pro grade lens have this issue (older ones), but the new ones they basically improved over the iterations. Well, you get what you pay for.Not sure if you can calibrate to fix this issue, those are probably more useful if you have back/front focusing problem. Correct me if I'm wrong. Just curios, how soft? Do you have an example we all can see? |

QUOTE(jchue73 @ Nov 2 2011, 10:52 AM) Half of USB 3 speed is already super. My point is, if Sandisk claim 45MB/s, and the D5100 supports the UHS-i thingy, but maybe it can only output at half or so. Doesn't mean support UHS-i means can go full speed.Actually, if they consider themselves reputable, they should honour the price. This is what we often do not see with Malaysian online shops unfortunately. What are you using it for? In addition to what ifer has suggested, best of the best would be the AF-D 200mm f/4 micro if you want long working distance for dangerous subjects or when going close to the subject is not possible. Else if you can find the zoom Nikkor micro lens AF 70-180mm f/4.5-5.6 D ED (discontinued), it's also fantastic and the world's first and only zoom type macro lens. If you're on DX, Nikon has the AF-S 45mm f/2.8 and AF-S 85mm f/3.5. If you want 3rd party, I heard the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 is also excellent. |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Nov 3 2011, 03:29 PM) Not sure, didn't notice it last time; can try call and ask. I'll go with the NEX5n or NEX7 for that... Or maybe Fuji x10.More suitable for family use, capturing moments; especially with all the features and high fps. I guess they target what those compact camera people are looking for and facing problem with their current compacts, which has slow performance, not able to capture the moment and also picture quality; Just that the price is too much. |

They do sell the hotshoe protector, but I remember it was for D3/D700/D300 series, not sure if D7000 has one or not.Just came back from my China trip few days ago but heck involved in a chained cars accident yesterday and I'm the last one Never expect for snow in China during my trip but it happened for a day and coincidentally on the day of my visit to the specific tourism spot. Carrying the D7000 + BG + 17-55 all the while It rained slightly too during my trip and I noticed one thing, though the D7000, 17-55 and SB-900 are weather-sealed, I noticed the contact point between the body and flash is not and vulnerable to water. I'm wondering now if it will cause any malfunctioning if there is water in between the contact during the usage. I remember there is some optional accessories to cover it, necessary to get it? Another thing, after I moved from a cold breezing area to a slightly warmer area, the side of the LCD on the D7000 body got water coming out. Would it be probably due to freeze contained within the body while in the cold area? QUOTE(seather @ Nov 4 2011, 02:02 AM) the nikon 24mm f/1.4 even has metal mount... the interior sud be made of metal kua... doubt ken rockwell will lie or screw up so big time Be it weather sealed or weather resistant, they are the same. If your gear is weather sealed, I doubt you will purposely go soak in the rain for the shots. Unless of course you're a hired pro photog, but then again, pro photog with D7000? They are most likely with D3/D3s range.it is weather-sealed or weather resistant? the interpretation of this 2 phrases r very subjective i doubt the D7000 can survive long if u use it under heavy rain... |

QUOTE(iXora.ix @ Nov 4 2011, 08:08 AM) I remember, last time I had send email to nikon regarding D7000 weather sealing No point to torture your DSLR unless you're paid for it LOL.CODE Dear Ammar Yusri, Thank you for contacting Nikon Asia Technical Support. Your case has been forwarded to us. We will assist you from here. For your information, although the D7000 is weather sealed, but by exposing it directly under heavy rainfall is not recommended as this product is not waterproof, and may malfunction if immersed in water or exposed to high levels of humidity. Rusting of the internal mechanism can cause irreparable damage. Thank you for your support on Nikon Products. We hope we have addressed your concerns. Please feel free to contact us for more information. |
