According to my friend who was race official once, he said F1 was the hardest event to get a photog vest. They'll do a background check on you and like you said need to be from some publication and such. MotoGP and SuperGT im not sure but heard SuperGT to get the vest you have to pay like RM700 or something (if have lubang)...not sure true or not though

With shallow DOF you have to get the focus spot on, very thin margin for error so that's why i most of the time use F2.8 even with my 50mm 1.8G. Scared focus lari
