QUOTE(huiqing88 @ Sep 20 2011, 10:38 PM) @victorian, Oops sorry didn't realize that . Anyway edited the postPlease remove your post content in post #26 as the jailbroken apps we all are talking about is different from what you're referring. Your post is going to violate the rules in LYN. The jailbroken apps we ppl here are talking about is the one installed in Cydia, mostly tweaks or customizations for iPhone. Added on September 20, 2011, 11:00 pm Possible only if you have SHSH blob for iOS 4.3.3 saved. |

QUOTE(DE.si.MON @ Sep 22 2011, 10:27 PM) With upgrading or downgrading to any iOS that is no longer sign by apple require previously saved SHSH. Yup , I have all the major shsh . So can I update straight to 4.2.1 or must I update to 4.3.5 first then downgrade to 4.2.1If you got 4.2.1 SHSH you can upgrade. So always save your new SHSH when is release. I still on 4.2.1 and I can still save 4.3.5, I always plug my phone and run tinyumbrella whenever Apple release new iOS. You can even save iOS5 beta SHSH with tinyumbrella. As long you have your SHSH you can upgrade or downgrade anytime. |

Tried to update my iPhone 3GS running on 3.1.3 to 4.2.1 but failed . This is what I do .
1. Save shsh , start TSS server . 2. DFU mode , connect iTunes . 3. Change host file. 4. Pointed to 4.2.1 . But after that error 1015 , recovery mode . Tried to kick out using TU and Fixrecovery but failed . And finally I restored to 4.3.3 and it works . I wonder why ? |

Guys found out this useful tips :
To jailbreak tethered 4.3.5 , you will need to point your firmware to 4.3.4 using redsnow . But actually you can jailbreak using firmware 4.3.5 as well. After pointing to 4.3.5 and everything is done , you will notice that your Cydia Icon is white colour and not working . But dont worry . To make it run again , Open redsnow , point to 4.3.5 again and this time instead of ticking " Install Cydia " , tick " Just boot tethered right now " . After that just let redsnow do the rest . After successful reboot , you should get a fully functional Cydia. |

To fix a Cydia white icon problem , first you turn off your iPhone. Connect your iPhone to your computer and run redsnow . Browse for your current firmware . After it extract all the information , it will ask you what you want . Untick install Cydia and tick only Just Boot Tethered right now .After that Cydia will reboot your iPhone. You should have a brown functioning Cydia now .

So after you jailbreak semitethered , then when the untethered jailbreak is out , do you need to restore back to your current firmware first ? Or you can straight jailbreak again . And for the latest redsnow , firmware is not required to jailbreak and boot tethered right ? Thanks

QUOTE(azraeil @ Nov 9 2011, 11:23 PM) No need to update to the latest OS and downgrade. You just need to download the IPSW file for 4.3.3 directly from some of the sites (iClarified) abd the use the Shift restore. I'll explain further below (need to open another tab to get the info) You will need the SHSH blobs to restore to your current firmware which is not signed by Apple . If your iPhone is still working but with some bug, you can save your shsh using tiny umbrella right away . But if your iPhone is in Recovery Mode Boot Loop or whatsoever that makes Tiny Unbrella unable to detect your device, then you have no choice but to restore to the latest firmware first then after that downgrade using SHSH blobs .You can't just simply point to firmware 4.3.3 and expect it to work .How to Downgrade/Restore 4.3.3 Firmware using TinyUmbrella (WIndows) List of Firmware Files and Where to Download Them This post has been edited by victorian: Nov 10 2011, 09:45 AM |

Just updated my iPhone to ios 5.0.1 . Feels fresh with an unjailbroken phone. Now whenever a free game is announced, I will feel very excited. When I was using a jailbroken phone, I would possibly say: Nah, I can download any game for free anytime.
