My fone currently permanent stuck in DFU mode.. 4.2.1 jailbreak upgraed to 4.3.3..
it give 3194 error , but if i remove the
74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com it goes further, but at the end it gives another error 1013. Need advice here.. currently fone unusable!.

That sounds like you don't have SHSH saved in Cydia, that's why you're getting the 3194 error (verification failed).

Download TinyUmbrella and see if you can get the SHSH from Cydia to be saved locally to your computer. Sometimes Cydia is swamped and connection will fail and you will get the verification error (3194). It's one of the reason I like to save my SHSH locally. No need to depend on Cydia and no need to know if Cydia is up or down.

Follow this guide Instructions on How to Downgrade/Restore/Upgrade to 4.3.3 Using TinyUmbrella and Saved SHSH

I'm doing upgrade to 4.3.3 , i thought only if i downgrade i need shsh.. therefore i dont have..
At the end, after tried many times.. I succesfuly upgraded to 4.3.5 instead.
So no JB me.. but i hardly use jb apps anyway..

You need to have your SHSH if you want to DOWNGRADE, RESTORE, UPGRADE to a firmware version that Apple NO LONGER SIGNS.

Apple is signing 4.3.5 ONLY at the moment. Once iOS 5 is out on October 12th, you will have a couple of days before Apple stops signing that. So for those who require at least a tethered Jailbreak with 4.3.5, make sure you save your SHSH using TinyUmbrella.

rajurajz, read the 1st post NO DISCUSSION ABOUT PIRACY

@dopp. if you jailbreak it on 4.2.1 using redsn0w and you opened Cydia after the jailbreaking process, usually (not always) Cydia will automatically save your SHSH. I would rather prefer to just use TinyUmbrella and save a copy of the SHSH locally. So if any new firmware is released, I just run TinyUmbrella and get my SHSH directly from Apple. So even if I'm on 4.2.1, I have SHSH for 4.3, 4.3.1, 4.3.2, 4.3.3, 4.3.4, 4.3.5

No need to depend on someone else to save it for me coz if they don't do it automatically, there is no one else to blame.

After going through the posts, this is my understanding if I wanna upgrade my jb 4.1 to 4.3.3.
1. Backup my iphone4 through itunes
2. Restore to 4.3.3
3. Save shsh using tinyumbrella
4. JB using jailbreakme.com

Unless I misunderstand the previous posts, do i get it all correct?
Fyi, I didnt save SHSH on my 4.1 before jb my current phone. Was using Greensnow to jb.
*
If you want to upgrade to 4.3.3 which Apple no longer signs, this is the step you need to do and the thing you need to have, without which you will not be able to upgrade

1. 4.3.3 SHSH - If you do not have the SHSH for your iPhone. STOP. No need to proceed, the only firmware you can upgrade to is 4.3.5
2. If you do have the SHSH, follow the guide from iClarified - How to Downgrade/Upgrade/Restore to a Firmware version that Apple no Longer Signs

@optjust, use TinyUmbrella and go to the Advance Tab and check teh box that saya "Requests SHSH from Cydia".

TinyUmbrella will then retrieve the SHSH from Cydia as yours have been saved in Cydia smile.gif

A tethered jailbreak for 4.3.5 can be done via redsn0w.

You can follow the Guide here

How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 4 Using RedSn0w (Windows) [4.3.5]

For Mac, the Gudie is as follows

No SbSettings in iOS5, no deal. One of the main reason I JB is for SBSettings. I don't see the features in iOS5

WARNING: DO NOT JAILBREAK USING HTTP://jailbreakme.com

QUOTE
iPhone Dev-Team has announced that ConceitedApps has underhandedly sold JailbreakMe.com to an unknown entity and it is no longer safe for use.

It's sad @ConceitedApps sold out http://jailbreakme.com for $$. Luckily we have http://jailbreaks.me and won't ever sell out, said MuscleNerd.

the new owner of jailbreakme.com is absolutely unknown, untrusted, and unsafe..in perfect place for iPhone malware

everything jailbreakme.com used to host will soon be on jailbreaks.me. Don't trust jailbreakme.com anymore (seriously)

it's the worst kind of sellout by @ConceitedApps. They didn't even give us a chance to migrate actual jailbreakers

ConceitedApps has reportedly responded saying "he is lucky i even let them use it for years after they "kicked" me out. i owe them nothing"

We'll let know as soon as the iPhone Dev-Team and Comex manage to get jailbreaks.me up and running.

BBsettings? What's that? To find those tweaks that you can't see, just change your Cydia settings to either developer or hacker and you should be able to see those hidden tweaks

Ever installed something on cydia (ie sbsettings) then when u want to remove it's not in the "package list" so can't uninstall...

What to do ah?
*
Go to Manage tab, at the top left hand corner you can change your settings to User -- Hacker -- Developer. Change the settings to Developer and you should be able to see ALL the tweaks that has been installed. Be careful not to delete anything you're not supposed to otherwise Cydia/iPhone might become unstable.

Taken from TinyUmbrella FAQ

QUOTE
Q: How do I save my SHSHs on Cydia?
A: If you have the option "Request SHSH From Cydia" enabled your SHSHs are requested through Cydia. This means that if your request results in successful saved files, Cydia DOES have your SHSHs. There is no way to force Cydia to store SHSHs for older versions of firmwares. There are security concerns there.

Do not upgrade so fast to the latest version if you are not sure if some of the Cydia tweaks or apps are compatible. The wait is especially long for the developer to make it compatible so if you are like me who paid 10 bucks for Celeste which I know for sure will not work with iOS5, then better wait ....

any news on untethered iOS5......
*
Nope. If you cannot find it in Google, then it's not out yet. The dev team says that they found 5-6 exploits for an untethered jb for iOS 5 bt the dev team works on their own schedule. They will release it when they release it. No point asking them when also .... they are doing this for free, so be patient.

Exactly. When the untethered JB is out, this thread will be on fire .... dunno when it's going to be out though ... check out Musclenerd Twitter account, you'll get an idea.

Added on October 15, 2011, 4:08 pmFor those using ultrasn0w to unlock your phone. Below is the info from dev-team

QUOTE
We’ve updated ultrasn0w to be compatible with iOS5, which came out a few days ago.  While ultrasn0w 1.2.4 (available now in Cydia) doesn’t add support for any new basebands, the update is required for any ultrasn0w unlockers trying out iOS5 (it remains backwards compatible though, so you should be able to use it no matter what firmware you have).

The supported basebands for the iPhone 3G and 3GS are 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, and 06.15.00.  The baseband supported for the iPhone4 is 01.59.00.

Remember, the only way to get to iOS5 while preserving your ultrasn0w-compatible baseband is by using a custom IPSW.  redsn0w now has the ability to create such a custom IPSW for you (at least on Macs…the same capability for Windows will be coming soon).

The majority of people who use ultrasn0w at iOS5 right now will probably be those with old-bootrom iPhone3GS devices, since they already have an untethered jailbreak via redsn0w.  For everyone else, the iOS5 jailbreak is currently tethered and you need to “Just boot” tethered with redsn0w every time your phone reboots.  That’s not always easy to do if your phone reboots while away from home!

Note: there’s a special “trick” that iPhone3GS owners with baseband 06.15 need for iOS5.  During the new setup screens you see when you start iOS5 for the first time, you’ll be asked about Location Services.  Be sure to select “Disable Location Services” when asked!  Later on in the setup, you’ll have the chance to turn on Location Services again when asked if you want to use “Find my iPhone”.  It’s fine to turn it back on at that point, if that’s your desire (or you can always go in and enable it in Settings.app).

Also, some iPhone3GS users with the 06.15 baseband may have tried to install iOS5 using a stock IPSW (even though you should never ever try to use a stock IPSW if you’re an ultrasn0w unlocker).  If you did try this, your baseband is probably in an inconsistent state, and you’ll need to reflash the 06.15 baseband again (using redsn0w).  Be very careful if you use redsn0w to reflash the iPad baseband — don’t interrupt the process! And please avoid using stock IPSWs in the future smile.gif  Unlockers should never go near stock IPSWs.

If you need to use redsn0w for any of the above tasks, please make sure it’s version 0.9.9b4 or higher, which is available here.

Enjoy!

iOS5 is tethered only for all compatible devices except for old-bootroom 3Gs. So anytime you reboot, be prepared to boot tethered, otherwise you'll be stuck

Everytime upgrade then cannot downgrade haiz morning liao i really need sleep and cant do anymore

If Apple is still signing the 4.3.5 then you should be able to downgrade by just downloading the IPSW for 4.3.5 and then just pressing Shift + restore. Make sure your host file is clean and the restore should be simple.

IF Apple has stop signing 4.3.5, the the only way to downgrade is to have your 4.3.5 SHSH saved somewhere. If you don't have it, then you won't be able to downgrade.
