So how is your unit now?

It's much better now. I believe it's performaing at optimum levels now.

Juddering is stil a problem. But then it's not a VT, so I can't really blame it.

Just got my old set calibrated by Anfieldude, and finished fixing T5 lights for ambient lighting.

The result is fantastic. Colours are even more natural and softer. The pop is even better now.

Now studying whether to get a Darbee for further improvement.

thx for the reply bro.

Do any of u guys use a calibration prog? does it improve a lot on the PQ of the ST50? So far its very pleasing but not till it WOWs me yet. Maybe because not playing bluray discs and contrast, brightness, sharpness now at around 40 max.

Also what tips do u have for first time plasma owners to clean the screen? it gets finger prints easily. wht kinda cloth shud i use to wipe it so it does not scratch the screen and can it be a lil damp cloth?

1. Break it in by using the burn-in slides. Google for them.
2. Get it calibrated by proffesional calibrator. Spent the small extra sum to get the best out of your tv. It's worth it.
3. I use a new soft towel with glassex to clean it. I reserve the cloth for only this purpose so as to prevent contamination.

Don't just check the Pana 3D also audition the LG to compare and see the difference. Those are just my opinion, you might see things differently. As some people can tolerate flicker but I guarantee you very dark 3d not the positive plasma black levels that we normally mean whick takes out of the 3d effect and enjoyment.
15 minutes max and nausea and headache starts to kick in for us.
I didn't check out the F8500 3D since I has zero intention of buying.

Strange that you are seeing flickering. Although I'm sensitive to 3D nausea and headache, I've no such problem with my old 65ST50K.

In fact the 3D is superb. The 3D perspective and details are spectacular.

Maybe the flickering is caused by the glasses battery power being exhausted?

And yes, if you compare a 65-inch with a 50-inch, you will find the details are softer. I experince this when I swtiched from my previous 50VT20K to current 65ST50K.

And juddering is still a problem with Pana plasma sets.

It could be possible that the batts level were low, but I suppose it more of a personal low tolerance to flicker since I see it also on the Samsung LED active TV but it was brighter on 3d than the Pana. 3d is not a deal breaker for me.

Do u think your 65in plasma tv contributes to a higher electricity bill after upgrading from 50incher? Just a little worried here.
Is there anything you can do for the judder?
Is it a choice between the soap opera effect or judder?
The 65 incher size looks fantastic, at how many feet do u view it?
Compared to the 60incher, the 65 somehow seems much more bigger that the 5in difference.
Thanks for your comments.

Not sure of the power cost as it not an issue for me. Maybe you can check the specs.

I think the judder is because of the ST performance issue. It could also be QA problem as with mine. But after solving the QA issue, there was less juddering.

I believe the higher end VT or ZT model will give better performance in regards the juddering. My old V20K has very much less juddering than my current ST50K.

VT50/60 owners may give a better judgement on whether judder is still a problem for them

IFC can reduce the judder a bit but it tends to cause skips. Need to have a trade off between them.

My viewing position is about 2.5m from the screen.

Yes, although it's only 5-inch difference but its the viewing area that counts. That's why it looks much bigger.

It's something like staggering motion instead of smooth. I usually see it in dance motions in " So You Think You can Dance". The foreground dancers was smmoth but the background dancers was juddering like they were in slow motion.

It's more pronounced in my 65ST50L as compared to my old 50V20K. I pointed this out to Pana guys but they say I can't compare beteeen a 50-inch tv with a 65-inch tv.

Check out this link.

Thanks 4 the info & link  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif
So is something like lagging in internet ...
I may encounter video juddering when streaming HD video, most likely due to slow internet (not unifi user  cry.gif ).
No problem for 480p video ...

As for TV program very rare encounter juddering. FYI, I did  encounter partially juddering when watching news a few times only (ie: the hand juddering only but not the whole screen), other programs were ok.

May I ask how often ur 65st50 suffer juddering?? Or just watching "So You Think You can Dance" only got juddering??

Any other owners can share their experience  icon_idea.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

Is it because of 50" vs 65"?? Any sifus can help  icon_question.gif  notworthy.gif  ??

Yes at times, it still can be seen.

I mentioned that program as it is the easies to see. Many people doing fast and continuous rhythmic movement which is easy for spotting any irregularities. You can try on any Byond sports program eg. football, which I don't have. blush.gif
