Will try it out.. Loving the tv cause its zoom1 is showing my 2.35:1 movies in full screen without cropping the side smile.gif still testing the best setting... Is there any case of faulty 50st50? Just a bit worried about the black screen. Anyway to test?

I'm still trying to convince my wife that this is a better tv than LG 47Lw5700... Haha...

Why are u comparing with a 2011 model 47LW5700, u should compare with the 2013 models LA6200/7400.
Does your wife prefer the LG LEDs?

This one you got to contact the shop or Panasonic, is a real faulty.
Covered in warranty or not, just contact them to check out.

Happened on static and video as well. It seems like red component is not able to display anymore, on blue/black/green background is ok. It is noticeable on normal video.

After searching the web, the "Custom" mode in US version should be the "True Cinema" mode in Malaysia version.
But the setting range may be different.

May try this setting from UK version, which is from the www.hdtvtest.co.uk

i tried the settings...somehow i found the WB of this setting abit dull and grey....
the color is good....i can see no more yellow tint on the movies....

i combined Dnice WB settings with this color setting...very very satisfied color and and black level...

I was using the LW5700 before this.. bought that last year. budget not enough to buy the st50... manage to sell the lw5700 and buy the pana 50st50.. was worried that pana tvs price is going up as the newer models are 60st60 only in Malaysia.. which cost more than 5k..

for now still looking for best setting in SD mode as my wife loves watching all this astro channels.
Me, I followed the setting given by you guys and love the picture shown by the 50ST50 for my 1080p movie collection. just watched watchmen ultimate cut last night in full screen and it was superb! pic was great.
My personal reference, when I was using the LW5700 during dark scene I notice the lights from the side of the screen, I guess its the LED.. but last night it was like watching a movie in the cinema. lights was distributed nicely. plus, the zoom1 function which doesn't crop off the side is the biggest bonus for me! i'm a noob as well here when it comes to describing the technical specs of the Tv, but I love watching movies and that's from my point of view.

BTW... is there anyway to install netflix on malaysia pana tvs?

Those edge lit led TVs have visible backlight bleeding coming from corners when the lighting is low. Viewing angles should be way better on your Pana.
Daytime viewing, 3D performance and screen anti-reflection, which TV do u think is better?
Wife like ur new Pana?

Daytime viewing is normal for astro(not byond).. If not better than the lg.. In fact i think the SD format is getting sharper on the tv. Or is it just me. Even my wife seems to slowly love the SD astro.
Never actually watch a movie without closing the curtain.. But now that you've mention it, i tested the movie 42 (1080p format.). Ended up watching a whole 15 minutes, pic is just superb. Reflection is a lot lesser and my wife who watches from the side even admits that the 'silau' doesnt kacau the movie that much.
3d for me is personal ref... But need to test more in a darker room. Testing it with the sun coming from the side is almost the same as the passive 3D from LG lw5700.. So no comment there.

I think.. The hype is true on this tv. Loving it for now. Is it true that the more you use a plasma tv the better the picture gets?

e6? Are you refering to the arc function? The st50 hdmi 2 can output sound to my denon avr without problem. Look for which hdmi has arc on your tv... What is E6?

The not-so-smart Smart Viera LED TV. The only output I can see is the tiny "digital audio output" port. My old LCD tv used to have those red-white audio out put that I can channel it to my home theater. How should I output audio from this viera?

The tv comes together with those cables converter.
You should have them in the box.
