Well, it depends very much on what you really want:
Here are some that are worth considering:
Asus
N43SL (Jay-Chou edition), i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M (2GB)@RM2699[Bang & Olufsen], *USB3.0, Colors: Gold/Red
N45Sf-V2g-VX013v [black], i5-2410M + Nvidia GT555m (2GB)@RM2799[Bang & Olufsen]; USB3.0, Sonic Master subwoofer
A43Sa-VX004v, i7-2630QM + AMD HD6730@RM2999
A43Sv, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT540M@RM2999[2.44kg]

Lenovo
Y470, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT550M@RM2999[JBL]

*Do take note that the GPU problem with the N45sf still hasn't been resolved completely yet.
So if its me, I'd choose N43Sl or Y470 nod.gif, the latter is more powerful, but then, more expensive as well ~

I have toshiba portege r830 in my mind. But afraid of the poor quality of toshiba. Any other recommendation?

laugh.gif The Portege's quality is not poor yo brows.gif Summore it comes with 3 years international warranty, will come in handy if you're always travelling abroad
Read the reviews yet? hmm.gif http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Toshib...ok.58664.0.html (specs may differ)

Apart from the Portege, there's the Dell Vostro V131 [Not recommending Inspiron 13z due to the lack of a VGA port, which I assume you'll need for presentations]
Dell
Vostro V131, i3-2330M + Intel HD3000@RM2099[1.82kg], W7HB
Vostro V131, i5-2430M + Intel HD3000@RM2299[1.82kg], W7HB
* + warranty extension to 3 years, useful since warranty support is on-site thumbup.gif

Others:
Sony Vaio VPCSB26FG, i5-2410M + AMD HD6470@RM3299[1.72kg], colors: White/Silver/Pink/Blue/Black
Asus U31Sd-RX146v, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT520M@RM2999[1.88kg], OD
Asus U36Sd-RX084v, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT520M@RM2999[1.78kg]; USB3.0 external OD, Asus optical mouse

Dear Sifu,

From advises I got here and survey the retail market.
I got 3 laptops in mind now.
1) HP DV6 6001-TX, I got offer of RM26xx
Additional RM90 upgrade to 8gb Ram and another RM90 for 3 yrs extent warranty.
2) Asus G53 with 3D, offer of RM46xx
Standard package with gaming mouse, 3D glasses etc
( I prefer the one without 3D but seems everywhere no stock)
3) Asus N55SF i5 with RM27xx
Standard package

Would like recommendation which one is value for money?
My main usage is Gaming and multimedia, I'm also looking for desktop replacement while I will be working overseas 2 yrs.
So, international warranty is also a must. Mobility is not a problem.

Is HP-DV6 6114 coming to Malaysia market? As most retail shop here in Penang not selling it yet.
Should I wait or should I just grab the HP-DV6 6001 now? As I will be leaving Malaysia only early 2012. Is it too early now to buy a lappy. notworthy.gif

Since you want something lightweight and you got the budget for it, go for the U36SD.

Gaming go for the G53SW. Also kills 2 birds with one 2 since you need a desktop replacement model. The DV6 is weaker and I'm not too sure about the warranty. No problems for the Asus since it offers 2 years international by default.

I have low end 14" notebook now, thinking to upgrade to smaller and lighter one for travelling... but the current price not so ecomonical for me... If ultrabook comes soon, should I wait for ultrabook? Or maybe small and light notebook price will drop when ultrabook comes... Thanks.

Not quite... it doesn't have switchable graphic so the battery life is poor.
AMD 6570M is slightly slightly slower or equal to GT540M and u can find laptop fitted with Core i5 + GT540m for as low as RM1.8k.
