Arsenal have made a club record bid of £22 million for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, according to the Evening Standard.

M’Vila has long been a transfer target for Arsene Wenger, but the manager is hoping to make his ambitions clear this week with some big money buys before the transfer window closes tomorrow night.




Per Mertesacker is said to be completing a move to Arsenal today, while Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka and Chelsea pair Alex and Florent Malouda have all become last minute transfer targets for Wenger.

Arsenal have in excess of £50 million to spend this summer, after the exits of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, and Wenger reportedly sees M’Vila as the perfect fit for the Gunners’ midfield.

While Rennes are said to be holding out for £30 million for M’Vila’s signature, Arsenal are confident they can get hold of the 21-year-old for less.

Wenger is in France now, which leads me thinking that he might sign someone from Ligue 1 clubs. So far the main contender for Arsenal transfer target is M'Villa, the Rennes anchorman.

Mertesacker confirmed going for medicals, and i'm unclear with Santos as his news flow died halfway.

Malouda is totally out since we're fully equipped at both wings (Oxlade, Walcott, Arshavin, Ryo, Gervinho)
