Aih I'm having a dilemma. I can buy a 27" TN Panel Samsung or a 24" IPS Panel. I normally use the LCD to do browsing, surfing, movies, gaming and a little bit of photo editing (not major).
Any suggestions? Is the difference between TN and IPS huge to warrant a trade off for a smaller screen?

QUOTE(cherroy @ Oct 22 2011, 03:35 PM) After you use IPS, you don't want to go back to TN. Personally I will trade off a few inch to IPS. Yes, IPS (even cheaper version IPS) vs TN has the difference which that is greater than difference between Non-Led TN vs Led TN. I see, very good and convincing reply. Thank you. Is there any difference between cheaper version IPS and standard IPS and how do you differentiate them? This post has been edited by Icehart: Oct 22 2011, 04:38 PM

After going through some homework, I found two suitable monitors to replace my TN monitor. They are:
- IPS236V - U2312HM
Any recommendation on the above monitor? I usually use for gaming, watch movies and edit photos.
About USB ports, my keyboard comes with 3 USB ports so it doesn't really bother me to have extra USB ports. I use DVI cable to connect my computer to monitor.
Thanks.

Guys what are the distinctive difference between a 16:9 and 16:10 ratios? My 23" currently run on 16:9 and it's quite okay for movies, gaming and documents. Have not try 16:10 yet, any comments or experience? Please share.

QUOTE(sam240 @ Nov 2 2011, 12:10 PM) 16:10 will has bigger area about 15.3% (I read from other forum reviews). For editing documents / photo, I prefer 16:10. For movie, 16:10 still can work, just the black bar (top & bottom) will be bigger size (for me, i don't mind about this) different resolution too 1920 x 1080 vs 1920 x 1200 I think i will go for U2412M Will you get the black bar at the side if you run games on 16:10?

QUOTE(sam240 @ Nov 2 2011, 04:41 PM) oh, because of black bar? Yeah and it's very annoying if it is me. Besides this screen will be a dual display and it fits nicely since I have a 23" from DELL currently.

Well my DELL LCD has been more than 2-3 years, already expired warranty but still going strong. My LG on the other hand spoiled after 2 years of use. So really, depends on luck lah I say RM 60 ok lah if u divide by 2 years u spend rm 30 per year only. Ok what.
