If you're fine with most cheap 5ms TN monitor out there then you should have no problem with this.
But of course if your eye is very sensitive and hardcore gamer, then skip this and go search for 120Hz monitor. icon_rolleyes.gif

For those hardcore FPS gamer, yes there's different, and even better if the game frame rate can goes up to 100fps+, you can see they're so smooth like the video demo on those LCD TV shops. wink.gif

Become harder to access the OSD button, need to stand up everytime.

Nice setup btw, could use some "de-bezel" wink.gif

For my Dell U2311H with has no HDMI port. Which is the best connection to a desktop?

I have HDMI,DP(full sized) and VGA cables at home. Which would you recommend?

DVI-DVI?
Mini DP (from graphics card) to DP adapter? Or any other coverters...
VGA-VGA?
*
Either DVI or DP can do, skip the VGA.
if DVI cable is cheaper than DP converter then DVI cable, otherwise DP.

DVI-DVI should be fine right, I mean the quality? It's cheaper too and should be available at the shop I'm buying my PC at..
*
Well, it's Digital so the quality does not matter much anyway, a cheap DVI cable should suffice.

Thanks, thx for the recommendations! But the price should be higher in penang right? I decided for the dell one, so i can only buy it from the dell retailer right?
Sorry, first time buying these stuffs on my own. ><
Googled it , seems like only the retailer are selling it...
*
For your info, Dell manufacturer in Malaysia is at Penang.
Price wise it same across nation wide and if you buy direct from Dell, there's no delivery charge.
Currently the only way to buy from Dell is from its website unless you can find local retailer whom has those stock or you can find reseller here who can order from Dell for you, they're cheaper by a bit. wink.gif

umm... once i start-up my pc its there already....

If your monitor can't automatically detect the resolution perceive and adjust accordingly then you have to use the monitor mode to force the screen to full screen either 16:9 or 4:3, most of the current monitor should have this function if the monitor can't do automatic.
Also you can try to set the resolution to the monitor native resolution before you force the monitor to full screen.

Couldn't see it clearly but I think it has something to do with back-light bleed, try it with all screen black, 0 color to see if it's a back-light bleed, my 2333SW also has the same issue as above and it'll appear as back-light bleed if there's dark background.
You can try to address this issue if it really bothers you to Dell, and see if they can offer you RMA.

having it a black background does not show anything...but changing to white or grey shows the stain completely clear

Umm, now that's pretty visible, you can call Dell directly or just email them with the attachment, they should be able to do something about it.

My case is visible only when there's total darkness (yea didn't mention that clearly), you can see little light came out from the part of which it's dark when it's on bright screen.
When there's bright screen, it's the same as yours, though the "stain" looks pretty small.

Hello guys. I have a question. If like 20 - 22 inches monitor. The native resolution is full HD(1920x1080 reso). But some old lcd monitors dont have full HD. The second best after full HD is 1600x900 pixels right? wouldnt it look ugly to use 1600x900 gaming on a 22 inches monitor?
*
I'm not what's your definition of "ugly" but if you use the monitor native resolution then you shouldn't see any jagged pixels.
Currently (what I know so far) the smallest screen with full HD (desktop monitor) is 21.5" (22") so 20" is 1600x900.

Apple Macbook Pro just hit next tech (laptop) of which its 15" screen packs 2880x1800, retina display, phew~~ sweat.gif

yea i think will contact them regarding the warranty stuff...but do they give refurbish set as replacement?

and btw u2410 is kinda old now...is there any news that dell going to release another replacement for this model?
*
U2410 still on sales so it's not an old model, just this model lasted quite sometimes, btw don't compare U2410 to the newer U2412HM, they're different league.

Erm. It's actually like this. I was asking about laptop monitors reso, 1366x768(HD+) would fit a 14 inches monitor nicely. While 1366x768 on a 15.6 inches monitor would look bad(the pixels are a bit too big tho, 1600x900 would look so much nicer on a 15.6 inches laptop monitor). If 1600x900 fit 15.6 inches monitor nice, i think a 20 inches monitor(which doesn't have full HD) would require a higher reso?
*
Oh, you mean laptop vs desktop, well 15.6" already has 1080p, Dell XPS, Alienware, and some other brand gaming notebook (sorry if your fan-brand is not on the list tongue.gif ) all has 1080p on their 15.6" or higher display.
Desktop however is slightly slower to adapt to this technology but I can be sure that next year is probably the year that next gen of display will start to coming into the market. hmm.gif Well... Intel already has the road map for the display technology, even the 13" has 1080p... nice~ nod.gif
Even the biggest LCD TV on the market is still 1080p... if you look closely you can see the dot.

Well, it seems the debate for glossy screen and matte screen has gone quite hot in here?
My comments, glossy screen sucks to the max, why?
I have a Samsung 2333SW, matte. A Laptop, Dell Studio 1555 and it's glossy, to be frank glossy are the worst screen not just because it's mirror, but the backlight bleed got reflected on the screen and it's like bright on the bottom or top (or side way depends on the light bleed), if you work in dark screen, you'll hate glossy screen. Movie watching? you probably need to adjust either your head or the screen to a very good position, otherwise the backlight bleed is totally annoying.
Matte screen however is prone to the glow, it happen to every matte screen, not just the so called "IPS glow", it's purple-ish if you turn your head severely side-way, or look at ~45 degree angle, and depends on model (probably the matte material) it can either on the blue-ish side or yellow-ish.
But if you have bright full screen on both type of screen then those matter does not matter but under very bright room (i.e. incandescent light bulb) then you'll see the reflection of the light source clearer at glossy screen than matte screen.
So, professional screen still uses the matte screen and those explained all. Apple Cinema... well... I'm not sure why they uses the glossy though.

Glossy vs Matte screen discussion continues....

Which is why professional screen (Apple Cinema aside) is always matte, as lex has stated, matte screen cannot compare to phone matte protector, phone screen tend to have a thick plastic or so called gorilla glass to protect the inner screen, which is why when you place another layer of matte screen you'll see the "grainy colours" on the screen, of which is only obvious if you look at it side way or very close on dark screen.
I have a matte layer protector for my smartphone, I can't find obvious "grainy colours" when I use it on bright screen so it's pretty much OK for me, the glossy type is a finger magnet and it works like mirror (no-no for under sunlight or very bright condition).
After all, it is still users taste debate, so you can continue to use your favourite glossy screen while others will stick to their "policy" (matte rules! tongue.gif)

To answer your question "why is there *rainbow* color on matte screen?", let me tell you it isn't true (99.99%) and depends on your room lightning matte screen still the best.
3H coating on those IPS monitor is totally different that your matte stick-on on the smartphone, yes I do see grainy colors on my matte screen on my smartphone but I don't see any on my monitor, so it's safe to say matte screen monitor has no or much less than 0.1% which is not so obvious until you really stick your face right on it, of which my case... I can't really "stick my face" cause I'm still on CCFL and that thing is DARN HOT!! sweat.gif

What's the best monitor for gaming at 24" ?

So far i've been recommended the Dell U2412HM 24" LCD @ RM899. Any feedback on that ?
*
What type of gaming are you into? If you just a casual gamer with no need of hardcore response speed then that model is fine, otherwise any 2ms monitor is for you, especially those 3D monitor which has 120Hz refresh rate when not using the 3D mode. wink.gif

Well, have a look at this
http://www.apple.com/asia/macbook-pro/specs/
And be surprise (for a bit), Apple just packed 2880 by 1800 into a 15" display, much bigger than current 30" display, the trend is already begun. thumbup.gif

Hi guys. What kind of brand/model do u guys recommend if i want to opt for LCD monitor(20 - 23 inches - any size in that range), with full HD. Want good reliability and after sales service smile.gif Maybe DELL, samsung or asus better right?

Price range of course cheaper the better, but i dont mind paying a bit more for better warranty and quality. maybe rm 300 - rm 450?

What about DELL ST2220L 21.5 inches LCD? or is it better to add rm 50 to get 23" ST2320L(full hd)?
*
Dell is the better choice, could be slightly expensive than other offering but the after-sales-service is top-notch from all my experience and many post here so I would really recommend Dell. icon_rolleyes.gif

at the moment what brand offer best value for 27"
no need hi performance, just support full HD is good enough ady

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jul 8 2012, 07:04 PM)
I've not used a 27" 1080p monitor before but some say that the PPI is a little to low. 27" more suited for 2560X1600? hmm.gif
*
This will depends on how far cloud8318 look at the monitor, 27" FHD is suitable for 3' or more viewing experience.
As far as I know, any brand is fine nowadays, Samsung does has the slim model, good looking but I wonder about the side-leg durability though.

Just got myself a U2412M. was aiming for 2312HM, but no stock >.<

no regret for this model. colour is sharp and screen suddenly become so big.. upgraded from a dinosaur monitor (viewsonic VA702N- 17")...  tongue.gif

should i do any calibration to it? i use mostly for video only.

Any sifu's advice ?
*
Dell default is quite good, no calibration is needed if you just watching movies and playing games.
If you need accurate colours on graphics editing then you need calibration.

noted, thanks:)

do i need to set the contrast /brightness to 75 fix?

if use its auto, seems the movie night time, will appear to dark ... any fix to it?
*
Umm, if that the case then don't use the auto function (or dynamic), set the brightness and contrast to your liking then leave as it is until you feels like to set it again.
I would personally set the brightness as low as possible, contrast can be set lower if you feel the white is too bright after set the brightness.
