Does not matter if you are doing masters or not. Your job specification needs to be on the CSOL, SOL list.

You will also need to meet the criteria set out by DIBP to qualify for PR subclass 189/190.
Please be careful with migration agents saying "to go there on a Masters course and later applying" for PR would be easier.

Many have been conned/caught with this and end up returning after spending a small fortune on degree/masters they would not need.

I remember when i first embarked on this , every agent i visited had the same thing to say "why dont you go do masters then apply for pr"

So guys please read up at the AUS immigration website, every possible question you have the answer is there.

Best to go with an open mind, retool if necessary, get a certificate IV in the field you are interested in . Or do the cert to familiarize with the local standards etc, do some work pro bono and convince them you can do the JOB.

Dont go with high expectations of retaining the same title as you have here, a new place , new life, new start. Be realistic

Planning to make my visa validation trip April next year. Mind to share how do I go about setting up accounts & Medicare? Do not have kids atm so that can be exempted for the time being. smile.gif

Setting up both medicare and Bank accounts is fairly easy.

You can do the bank either NAB or Commonwealth via online from here and go there and activate or you can do it there takes like 10 mins all they need is passport and pr grant letter. they will set up internet banking straight away so you can wire funds

Medicare is also fairly simple and quick just go to any medicare center and sign up documents required is PR grant letter and passport.

They are quite friendly and will guide you along the way.

I have done my validation trip in Aug and my other half will be going there to settle down first before I join later.
Now looking for a place for short term rental prolly at the northern / far eastern suburbs.. which part of melb are u planning to stay initially? Are you gonna rent first?
*
my other half will be going end feb before i and daughter join mid year or later depending how fast she can secure employment, we have narrowed down to Doncaster, East Doncaster or Mt waverly due to secondary schools and public transportation access.

In the interim she would be staying in viewbank (relative place).

We only would rent in this areas once we secure appointment.

Is it dangerous to just go there without making a prior initial landing?

ah.. yes, important to send your daughter to a good school there.

we do not have any relatives there to spare us any room, so we are looking for rental at cheaper areas.

All the best to your migration journey yeah.

QUOTE(meee @ Dec 5 2014, 08:39 AM)
thanks for the reply, I did read ur post.
PR means permanent resident rite? I thought we can only get the PR after 5 years of staying in Australia?
I never been to Australia before, so the working visa is the first thing I need to get first before PR?
please correct me if im wrong.
is this the right place to apply my visa?  http://www.malaysia.embassy.gov.au/klpr/home.html
how long it will took to get my first visa?
I still got few projects need to settle before I quit my current job. I mean I could, but it's not nice to quit now since I handle the project initially.
let's say I already got the PR and everything, and I start to hunt for a job, I plan to use video conference for interviewing. is that going to work? or should I quit my current job, moved to Australia, then only start to find a job?
*
I think you have the whole process wrong

please refer to this site www.immi.gov.au read it and understand the process and your options. its not easy getting a pr !

all australian visa/pr application is online based. Good Luck

There are already many employers hiring Nepalese educated admin staff paying them rm1300 with 3 year bond no EPF or sosco. Mind you this guys speak excellent English and are computer literate.
Where do locals have a chance ?

Soon 5\10 years ...you will see a large shift in local workforce dynamics. As employers cut cost and higher foreinegners to maintain overheads .

Forgot to add foreigners don't take mc or annual leave like us smile.gif

lol i think what he means is the so called " australia tax" generally all items like digital music , google play , apple store, Tech Gadgets etc the prices are slightly higher in australia excluding GST.

If you compare item for item take for example a macbook between malaysia and australia excluding gst its much higher in australia, not sure why. generally all imported products are higher in australia

i could be wrong but this is my observation

it all depends on your mindset, if you are planning to go there straight into an executive and senior role dont bother unless you have specific niche skills.

if you willing to retool / re learn start from the bottom then your chances of making it is higher.

most who go there expecting to be in the same position they were here are usually the ones who are sorely dissapointed and return to malaysia

it all depends on the mindset / expectations and your ultimate goal
