whatever migration agent says about job, is pure speculation and take it with a grain of salt.

best to do your own research and figure things out based on your skillset or profession or best is reinvent and retool yourself.

Thanks, I do need help, appreciate it.
My aunts are citizens there. Should I apply for 189/190 as well or should I go for family sponsored visa?
*
Family sponsored route almost impossible to get. They have scaled that down tremendously.
Best go for 189/190

Pls remember whatever points you are claiming for employment must be assessed and verified by relevant assessment body. And also backed up with letters pay skips etc. Cause if you submit with high points and get chosen but can't back it up. Your application will be refused and money paid forfeited.

Pls read and re read the requirements. Many have been burnt and a fortune lost for over claiming points.

For 190 you just need 60 not more. As soon as state sponsor you the invite is automatic
For 189 you need 60 to qualify but more points to get invite faster. Cause its based on higher point for invite.

Also don't assume if you have degree its same as Aussie standard.
After assessment you might find your degree only equal to diploma in Aussie.

But these points are just the basic requirement to enable to to apply. Ive heard ppl say that if ure only meeting the minimum requirements, then its a good chance u wont get approved later on.
*
No for 190 you don't need more then 60 trust me

For 189 only reason you need more then 60 cause you have to compete with other applicants for that particular job code. So if you over claim and get picked but during lodging of visa can't back it up via assessment you automatically get refused.

Pls note this dipb will only consider based on assessment authority outcome I.e vetasses. ACS. Engaus etc

Just in case anyone wondering , I applied my self after few months of research and going thru forums.

I never trusted migration agents , cause always tell a rosy super positive bs.

From the time of my assessment and eventual granting of PR took me 8 months.

Eng Aus will assess your engineering experience as well.

You will need a letter from your current employer and your previous employers listing your position/title, start/end date, your duties, what you have been trained in and a contact point for your manager.
Most of the time for an engineering degree it is the same standard due to international engineering education agreements.
*
Yes agreed . IT degrees are the ones which can be considered diploma in Aussie. Depending where you did it .

Engineering shouldn't be a problem.

Have seen many it guys degree being reduced to diploma during assessment.

What points do you need to get for the 189 in order to be 'safe'?
*
Its best to ask how many points can you actually prove without a doubt and proceed from there.

I will be able to prove just 60 points for the 189 visa, but I'll apply for the 190 as well.
Should I even consider the subclass 489 visa? Since my uncles have Australian Citizenships and are staying in Sydney.
*
Don't bother with 489 .....long wait for invite cause not many places but a lot of applicants.

190 has more places compared to 189

Lodge eoi for 190 there will be ref number generated.
Then lodge state sponsor with the state you require and key in the ref number.

When you get state approval your invite is automatic.

Please note each state has separate requirements. Go to their respective websites and see which suits you better.

Assessment is a must and IELTS is a must for state sponsorship.

No insult meant, but with your current level of English, I don't think you'd score the necessary band 7 in IELTS writing required to migrate.

My advice is to fulfil the most pressing requirements first, like your IELTS test. This is where a lot of people fail to clear the hurdle.

I've spent all my working life working for mines and OnG companies, the attitude here is that they're sooner hire a guy with no degree but can speak like a local rather than a top of the line graduate with a perfect CGPA for most non-grad roles.

Plus mechatronics engineering's ANZSCO code is not included in the list of occupations allowed to migrate to Australia (the SOL list) due to its listing under "other engineering professionals" http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Pr...g+Professionals.
*
Agreed, biggest hurdle is to get through IELTS with flying colors, then the next phase of the process can start.

Hi, all. I just lodged my 189 visa yesterday. Wondering how long before a case officer will be assigned.

In the mean time I am applying for work from here and have had 2 replies from recruitment companies. Any chances of actually landing a job before getting to Aus?
*
For 189 co will be within 90days if all in order no co just direct grant.

If you get a job from here....good for you but very rare.
