Hi guys, here's my plan,  please advice if its feasible or I'm being delusional:

step 1. Get my uk architecture degree assessed by architect accreditation council of Australia and hope they recognise as equivalent (if this fail then that's it no more hope )
Step 2. Get IELTS and try my best to get band 8.....
step 3. Submit EOI,  btw is it possible to show on the same EOI that I want to apply for 2 different types of visa, subclass 189 or 190 (architect is in the list of high demand occupations in WA, and Perth is where I intend to go, so possibly I could use the extra 5 points for skilled-nominated?)
Step 4. Wait to get invited..

It's almost close to impossible to get sponsored by employer so I'm counting on this route to get a visa. Yay or nay?

Is it advisable to consult agents and how much do they charge?

Thanks a bunch!
*
Bear in mind if you have state nomination you need to be in that state to get your job. Try to apply for the normal visa if worse come to worse then apply for the state nominated visa.

I guess its feasible but do have a mindset that you might not necessary work in the field you intend to.

More to like a degree course like Engineering. It might not seem as "Ideal" as you think it is, trust me Australia has its downside, things like racism which are common.

I want a short term job in Australia, like for ±5 years. Is that possible?

I'm a fresh grad though. sad.gif
*
Did you graduate from Australia? If yes then its possible, since its your choice to leave the country after working there.

Guys, this is a forum to share our experiences in Australia to those who wishes to migrate here but not for us to bash people around. Just chill and tolerate each other.

Remember whatever is said here are just people's point of view. It's totally up to you on whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

This forum must based on actual and fact. If anyone shooting th blank bullet giving outdated or false bullshit info, it beats the purpose of having the discussion.
We're not here to bash people. Just some weirdo dunno
*
To be honest I don't see anything as bullshit. Like what the professors always say, no ideas or questions are dumb or ridiculous. I'm pretty sure those who plans to migrate would have a certain level of intellectual to differentiate what is useful and not useful for them. There's no need to call people names and I have to stress that it is very unethical. =) All the best in the future discussion, I'm in no position to talk about the safety issues in both Australia and Malaysia.

Band 8 will get a maximum points for migration(20 points). But if the occupation board like you said doctor will require band 9 for everything then you have to get all 9 to pass the skill assessment

But band 8 is already sufficient for most of the stuff. Band 9 is mostly impossible even for the English people

I see. You're also retaking Ielts right? Took already or? How was it??

This is getting me down. I was planning to resume my studies in Aus (I have maybe a year left) next year. Then try to stay there and find work. Is that not advisable? I already have some working experience locally in programming, which I hoped will aid me as Software Dev is in the SoL list.

I can't say I identify myself like an Aussie, more American? It was my dream to migrate there but I think it might not out of reach / impossible. Aus was always the 2nd / viable option.

I did not integrate well back then during my younger years studying there, I was a dumbass teenager. But I was planning to make an effort to mix with locals this time around. But Aussie footie? Eww, I'm a nerd. And the accent, I am able to pull up a pseudo American accent, aussie is a bit tough.

Max, do you think I should give up? I haven't been more excited to return to Aus. Maybe I shouldn't expect so much...
*
Take it as a motivation instead. I myself managed to secure a job in Australia before I graduate and I don't even sound like an Australian at all.

Work hard and tailor your path accordingly. All the best.

What do you mean by limited? I held 457 visa before and I managed to apply for credit cards. The bankers will normally advise you to have at least 2-3 months of payslip to prove that you have constant income before lodging the application.
*
As in the choices are limited as it's restricted to banks like commonwealth, NAB and HSBC. Hence, I'm seeking for some people with experiences to see what's the best possible card to apply for. Thanks.

If your annual gross income is 50k, pay calculator shows that you will bring back AUD 3,469 every month and pay AUD 697.67 of tax per month.

$37,001-$80,000
$3,572 plus 32.5c for each $1 over $37,000

Reference : http://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/income-a...-pay/Tax-rates/

My POV is that it will be enough to survive depending on your lifestyle. If you eat in a lot then it should be enough for you to have some overseas trip and buying some luxurious item such as ipads.

I haven't actually started work but woah tax is heavy.

Im not sure i fall under which category there is another 1 for foreigner.
Yea i knw rite the tax is heavy.but i think the raw material consider cheap there.
*
It depends on how you define cheap. If you're comparing to the food outside yes it will be cheaper to cook in home, unless you're looking at exotic food then nope.

You will do fine don't worry.

Effective 24 December 2013, applications for New South Wales nomination for the subclass 190 visa were closed.
What a waste of effort as they will reopen on July, 2014.
Anyone had experience entering Australia as student and then managed to get a job as well as PR ?
*
You mean student as in he/she studied in Australia or locally in Malaysia?

I meant he/she studied in Australia University, so entering Australia through student visa.

Hmm, not too sure for IT but for Engineering it's a bit hard for now. Don't have the mindset that you will automatically get a job after graduating in an Australian Uni anymore It's very different compared to 5 years ago when the economy was way better, heck even the locals are finding difficulties in obtaining a job.

If you really wish to get employment after graduating, tailor yourself accordingly. Example: Join CCA, get involved in networking and do lots of part time jobs while obtaining good grades =)

That's what I have been thinking of for past few days. It's indeed very difficult to obtain a job without networking. Like what hihihehe and nemesis said some job requirements don't make sense at all. About the postgraduate program, did you or most of your international friends enroll to Full time (2 years) or part time study (4 years)?
*
Hmm, most of my friends are undergrads (4 years course), not postgrad, but some decided to stay back to do postgrad to widen their own opportunities
