what is your current aquarium water temperature? my 3feet is at living room and if never use fan then temperature might go up until 29C. It is a bit high for cherry tank.
wah..!!! 29C? u not using fan but not using chiller? im using chiller and keep my temperature around 23-25. above 25 is consider 'hot' for me already for my tanks. LOL!!.. i wont ever let it go beyond that. average temperature around 24C for my tank.
eh btw bro, can tell me ur rotala is which type of rotala? full name? or pic would tell...
hopefully they wont kill their own shrimplets. my tank got snail problem, i dont think there is any leave over food for the shrimp.
any1 know what is that creatures mention in the video?
- looks like water flea to me. i have those too sometimes in a matured tank ... but they usually stay at the bottom area and hardly visible. i usually leave them because it never got serious like snails. - this might comes if your gravel dirty with fish poos which those fellas survives for it. most tank have this but usually it's hardly visible because they're in the gravel or sand unless ur tank is overpopulated with it. - u cant totally remove them 100% tho, but to minimize it, make a big waterchange often and vacuum ur gravel as much as u can in between foreground plants leaf. - fishes would use them as 'alternate' food source but they would ignore them if already being fed nicely. starve ur fish and they'll dig over these pest. hehehe...

Please take note not to put too much food in the auto feeder. I would suggest putting 50% of the food amount that you will feed for x days. You obviously do not want auto feeder to fail and start dropping all the food into your tank.
hahahahahaha....!!! it's gonna be funny if that happens. LMAO!!! i dont know, i dont use auto-feeder is because i enjoy feeding my fishes every night. it's like playing with them.. like what u usually do with other type of pets (like dogs, cats, hedgie, etc)

i just moved house around few months ago.... what i did to my tanks was:
- 2ft tank and above, TEAR DOWN ALL TANK and reset everything!!! hahahahahhaa!!!!
- nano tank, just remove all the water, cover all the plants and stuff in there with wet newspaper and move. - fishes and shrimps, just put in a temporary plastic bag (if u manage to catch all... this is the PITA part).

oh... 26th? im just going there for a day trip on 25th. not staying since my hometown is in JB anyway.... better go back home. LOL! MACers told me somewhere in Clementi LRT got a lot. but price not be as cheap as in here... duh!!
i wonder wher those people got BW stuffs and then sell in here and still gain untung (assuming price in Singapore would be cheaper). LOL!!.. looks like im gonna order from prox >_< *paging PROX*
cheaper? is it? hurm.. never do shopping in sg LFS before so i dont know. if really cheaper, can go buy chiller straight away. hahahahaha!!!!! ok just kidding. but im seriously looking for BW products. trying to have my tank with BW instead of ADA this time and see how it goes. LOL!...
plus, maybe i could find some nice stuffs in SG LFS.. how knows. heh... so clementi station will be then!!
what stuffs are you looking for? ferts? tools? I am using BW vivid as additive for my 3feet tank, so far so good, not much diff compare to ADA brighty k. but my plants are not really red, some are orange/pink, some even turned to green. i guess my lights are not strong enough (i have 36w PLL sitting on top of red plant, and yet it turn green). i was wondering how much of light need for a red plant, i keeping HC and hairgrass with no problem.
haha. i also quite excited for this trip. My main objective is to look for sulawesi shrimps. only had a chance to look at them at HongKong, they are packed and hang like feeder shrimps for selling. lol.
fert basically. i want to have all their 3 type ferts and maybe some hardwares like scissors or something (optional) and give em all a try. i dun use brighty K anyway. i used saechem potassium for K and step 1+2, and green gain. those only fert from ADA i am using. so i wanna try to switch to BW and see if my tank can adapt to it. but im afraid later cant find it anymore in KL. red plants? get more lights!!!! hu hu hu ... i have 254W (72 + 72 + 110) above my 3ft tank. LOL! and i still dun dare to go with red plants... erm.. actually i dont find it attractive anyway that's why i dun like them in my tank. hahahaha..!!!!
happy chinese new year everyone! im worried about my fish because my guppies having babies 2 days ago, now have to go blk kg for a week, hope the food timer can handle it and the fish can hold it T.T
dun worry la bro.. ur fish will survive as long there's an aeration in ur tank and cross ur fingers for no blackout. hu hu hu!!! Happy CNY and travel safely
Utricularia graminifolia a.k.a Chendol plant: belongs to the most interesting water plants. It is carnivorous and creates an attractive green carpet in the foreground within a couple of months. Utricularia graminifolia may be difficult to start up but once it has gotten a firm grip in the aquarium, it offers a unique experience for the aquarist
does anyone have this plant? i want to buy it. looks cool in my aquarium. chendol...plant???
- i used to have a carpet with this plant. check the first page of this thread for my old tank photo. UG... huh, IME and personal view... it;s not a hard plant to at all and in fact, after that tank, i SERIOUSLY dont want to have it anymore in any of my tank. hahahahahah!!!! it's a PITA-type plant. it even refuse to go away and keep growing even there's just one little small leaf left in my tank floating, it'll grow into a floating bush if wasnt taken out. basically IME, it will just grow no matter where u plant it (tie like moss, foreground, or even floating on the surface).

@usermode - I am just providing review and not really pushing any sale. I like to share product review so it is easier for us to pick which suit best. There are 2 sellers here ie Sisaiko and weijie for BW fert. As for the price difference, you have to take into consideration transportation cost too. Of course it is cheaper if you buy it directly from SG since it is the origin place. For comparison purpose, ADA in HK is about 3x cheaper compare to Malaysia. That is the reason why i stopped buying ADA stuff in Malaysia. No hard feeling to ADA fan out there but I cannot swallow such a price difference.
heh no worries bro... heard the supplier of BW product increase their price. hurm.. anyway, found a LFS today that carrying BW. but a bit exp IMO. RM64 for 500ml. haiz.... but if i cant get it from any online seller, i'll opt there i guess
i failed with this plant.. haahaa.. only succeed once.. after that fail.. hahaa.. worse problem.. it keep floating/uprooting.. arghh.. and they keep melting. i dont know why.. other plant no problem. for sure not about temperature coz im using chiller..
- i was just using fan and also planted them in a low tech tank. they'll just grow.... since it grown on every condition in any of my tanks, i dont know what's the real reason for it to die. in fact, i cant mek them die ..LOL!! unless uproot everything and clear the tank to make sure no single leaf available.. LOL!!

@usermode - BW has increased their price due to increase of production cost. Which LFS selling BW ferts?
A little update on G Series - Snail Killer:-
I dose the liquid close to the snail to watch the response. Basically the little snail is stuck to my tank glass and i drip 1 drop close to the area. Within a min, the snail curl up into the shell. I continue to monitor for about 10-15mins and the snail is now dead. 100% effective and highly recommended for those with snail issue. My test subject is ramshorn snail. My upcoming experiment is to use it against other snails.
- erk, the usage is spot tratment? must shoot it at the snail? not put in the water column like fertilizer? ... btw, 88petsmart in PJ got sell BW fert and i can confirm this. saw it there last friday. RM64 per 500ml bottle.

er..btw i got this from your post. huhu..oh..then keeping this plant without daily trimming would be a disaster? some1 said this plant is not cheap? so do you still got this plant in your tank? i wanna buy it. maybe i can add this plant on my sister tank if it wasn't for my tank. tie it on moss ball and put it somewhere in her tank. then he won't bark at me anymore once it grow biggger and bigger
=_=
- not daily trimming la. but weekly trimming is a MUST (and then clear every single cuttings that floats or else they'll grow anywhere)!! LOL!!.. u missed a week, the next week, any of your small hardscape is gone from ur view. unfortunately, i dont have them anymore since i started to feel the pain with them. cleared my tanks from them and now i feel better ... haha..!!! yeah... i saw some LFS sold em quite expensive. a size of 50cents patch for RM10. i bought it emersed last time from an online seller (RM30 for one standard nasi lemak plastic container) and get them adapted into submerged version and they goes crazy..!!
This post has been edited by usermode: Jan 22 2012, 02:37 AM
oh..looks like this plant isn't suitable for my tank left them for 1 week then my tank turn to be bushy land. if we turn of the light for 1 day would kill them?even if there left 1 is just a root, it won't die?? Wow! a size of 50 cents patch equal to rm 10. damn CHEAP. can buy 5 young puffer.lol.
IME, UG in a tank with light will grow lot more faster once adapted but without lights in a day or 2 wont melt everything... in transition time during emerged to submersed version need lights.
here's the thing about UG from my experiences, it's an adaptable plant. it will adapt to ur tank condition no matter what the condition is. high lights, low lights, no lights (never tried), tied, buried or even floats. the old leaves from previous condition might melt but while it;s melting, a new leaf will start to grow in ur current tank condition and spreads. if the old leaves melted before the new leaf come out, then you will lose the plant which in my tank, that didnt happened when new leaf come out earlier before the whole patch melted.
Where do you guys normally refill your co2 tank? LFS or Sykt. City Corp?
- i dont even know where is City Corp. i just send to LFS usually and if i want it in urgent, i'll go to mid valley. can get in the same day most of the time.
off topic:
@ciohbu bro, let me know when u start taking order for the lily pipe holder. i want a pair...

guys, im currently in KL working for the week. staying in EastIn Hotel. does airport authority allows pet fish to go thru? Need declare and i know have to be packed properly into boxes but not sure if can hand carry? Im thinking of getting some if have here and bring back to Sabah
Plus, can recommend me fish shop i can visit around EastIn Damansara? Those near places only cos i don't have much free time to go around cos of work
thx
i dont know any LFS near Eastin but the most nearest i can think of is EA MidValley and Pet Family. but there's few more scattered around PJ actually.
my SAE is bullying my corydoras & otocinclus during feeding time.
i have a 45l tank (28cm x 30cm). inside i got 1 SAE, 4 ottos, 2 cory & 3 tetra. my SAE is the biggest & longest (6 to 7 cm) fish in the tank. only during feeding time, my SAE always chase away other fishes. kesian all my other fishes especially my ottos. (my ottos always hiding behind the ferns)
is this a natural thing? i thought SAE can live with other fishes?
how to solve this problem?
another question, i also plan to put 1 female & 1 male betta into the same tank. is it ok to do that?
another question, can i put also keladi bunting (water hyacinth) in it? my tank is open tank.
young SAE is very friendly fish (and hardworking too). With ur SAE size, i assume it;s an adult SAE. Adult SAE they will eat leass algae and will start waiting for fish food only. Also when at adult age, SAE tends to be territorial. They are not harming those fishes. they just want their own space.
My suggestion, feed your fish and your SAE at different corner than each other... it might not solve, but it helps to reduce the tense of other fishes.
keladi bunting, hurm i never have that plant before because i dont like anything blocking my lights
in my tank, i only got anubias nana & java fern, so i think putting 1 or 2 keladi bunting aka water hyacinth will not do any harm to them.
yup, for now, i place the food at different corner, scatter them so that they wont fight for the food.
- java fern and anubias should do fine. java fern still would appreciate some lights actually at least. they're not 'no-light' plant like moss. heh, no matter what at least allow some lights to go into ur tank then should be okay ...

crab! try go there with my colleague, couldn't find the place, then i call up to there, today they close at 4pm cos of company dinner.. with not enough time remain, decided not to find as it will be closed by the time im there
haizz.. wrong day, wrong place, wrong time
- LOL... unfortunately. since u can go until Taman Megah... u can go around PJ for other shops as well as u listed before. they're not so far from each other anyway.
