My s2 since yerterday all of sudden the battery drain fr 100-20% in 3hr when idle...sad.gif

And the phone is warm even when idle.

What may b the probable caus?

There r no signal at that time as I m outskirt, could this b the reason as the phone needs to continuously search for network & data network? Thus cause it to warm??

Could it be the battery oledi kong? But I just bought this s2 for 2 months only...sad.gif

Go to settings -> about -> battery usage

Then look at what's using most of your battery. From what you've said, it's almost definitely because your phone is searching for a network. So don't worry too much, I doubt the battery kong d.

Worst case scenario, switch your phone to airplane mode and see what happens.

Press on cell standby, and look for amount of time spent with no signal. But that is almost certainly the culprit here smile.gif

I have found that my battery life is absolute shite no matter what I do unless I use Juice Defender and switch to EDGE over 3G/HSDPA. I lost 12% batt in about 1hr 30mins, with Android OS being the highest user, despite the fact that the screen was off the whole time and there was basically no waketime either. It's just dreadful. Looks like I'm only going to be using 3G when watching youtube or for any heavy surfing sessions/tethering. Can't afford the battery drain otherwise.

You can only go so far with optimzations, looks like a bigger physical battery is the only real way to go for much improved battery life.

As for all the new shite coming out, I'll wait 1-2 more years before upgrading, unless something REALLY revolutionary comes out.

I still think something's not quite right though. I mean, others are reporting much better battery times than this. Is it possible that I got a bad battery?

Haha, I don't think anyone who has been keeping up with Engadget is surprised at the announcement. Talk about overkill though.

I've decided to give this one more try. 1.26am, 79% battery with 3G/HSDPA enabled and Juice Defender disabled. Let's see what happens in the morning.

Arrivederci, LYNers.

Woke up to 60% battery. That's about 7hrs 30mins consuming 19% battery which is about 2.5% an hour. Which is not too shabby. But I've had no connection at all for the past 1 hour or so to Digi. Had to restart the phone before I managed to connect to the network again hmm.gif

QUOTE(madlocke @ Aug 29 2011, 12:51 AM)
maybe time to invest some time to check your processes and wakelocks...

even when i'm on stock kf1, my overnite drain was only 1% per hr with wifi (auto-wifi-on from 9pm to 9am daily)..

or can borrow/buy another batt to test..  blush.gif
*
That's exactly what I did. According to Watchdog Lite, there was nothing waking the phone up other than what I requested, and no rogue processes either. Still, 2.5% per hour last night ain't too bad compared to what I've been getting recently. Perhaps the charge cycle will continue to improve? *fingers crossed*

I have no idea. But I woke with "Emergency Calls Only" in my notification bar. A quick restart sorted that out though.

I do still have juice defender on my phone, but I didn't use it last night. I think I might just get rid of it all together. I'll plug my phone in at the end of the day, charge it to 100%, manually switch off data before I go to bed, then switch it back on in the morning and top the battery back up to 100% before I head off for the day. That's what I'll be testing tonight biggrin.gif

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Aug 29 2011, 07:03 AM)
Why did you had no connection at all with DiGi.? Surely you have atleast your 2G connection.
BTW, you still using juice defender?

From what I've heard, I don't think you can go wrong with VillainRom/Lite'ning ROM/Batista and many others. There are a lot of custom roms for this phone. Personally though, I'm on Lite'ning ROM smile.gif

Your phone can sustain 54C up to 5 hours continuously (as i had tested it) :-P
But to be on the safe side, if your phone reach 50C then stop the charging. Most probably either your phone or your charger got problems :-)

Perfectly normal, bro. I'm charging my phone right now too and it was at 44celsius earlier when I was messaging and all. Like waveweaver said, don't worry unless you hit 50 smile.gif

Nope.! Never overclock my phone. I'm still on stock rom though i upgrade to KG1 already. If you want to know what i've done to achieve 54C, please refer to page 24 #post 479 and page 28 #post 547. Before that i manage to achieve 58C for one full hour :-P
*
Bravo, my good sir, bravo rclxms.gif

I'm still guessing that running your phone at those elevated temperatures *will* shorten your phone's lifespan in the long run. But I think that most of us will have changed phones long before then, unless, of course, you overclock and thus increase the voltage.

Speaking of overclocks though, I've overclocked mine tongue.gif It's max on SetCPU is now 1.4GHz at 1250mV, which is still below stock voltage for 1.2GHz (which is 1300mV). That made it quite a simple decision for me. More speed and less voltage? Yes please! biggrin.gif I also undervolted the rest of the clock speeds and made a "screen off" profile to reduce power consumption. Trying to suck every bit of juice I can get from this phone.

Are you sure our charger will auto off after two hours.?
I thought we need to charge atleast 3hours if our battery is less than 5% left. If the charger went auto off after 2hours then how to get full battery charge?
~~duhh~~ now i'm confused :-(
*
Haha, I think he just meant that it will charge till full and then cut itself off. 2 hours being a roughly average value for a charge smile.gif

If it doesn't show up, I guess the sgs2 can't read PNG files. Because the gallery will detect images from practically any folder in the phone and place it there for your viewing.

Apologies all around for the mistake. My bad blush.gif

On a side note, I have a question about charging as well. My Battery Monitor Widget and Android System Info tells me that my battery has been charged to 100%. But Android doesn't tell me that the charging is done, and when I go to settings -> about -> status, the Battery Level says 100% but the Battery Status still says "charging". Should I continue charging or stop?

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Aug 30 2011, 12:29 AM)
Our SGSII can read PNG. Mine shows in gallery based on what folder that i've name it.

QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 30 2011, 12:34 AM)
YES ; png are basic graphic files. I have many png files in my phone . Many apps uses png files as their logos too. It will shows up in any picture/graphic viewer including gallery
Just drop the files in any folder - there is no rule/restriction
Most probably your file transfers are unsuccessful if you don't see it . Anyway I never used KIES as I have written it off as the worst file transfer/sync software I have ever use. I install KIES just for its phone drivers

Whoa, ease up a little. I'm just curious as to why Android no longer informs me when the battery is charged. The only time it ever gave me the tone to signify a full charge was the very first time I charged it. Ever since then, I've had to manually check to see if the charge is complete. That's why I'm asking. So no, it is not "so critical" for me to have 100% instead of 99.99%. And no, it does not say "charging" so long as the charger is inside, it should say "charged" when the charging is complete.

QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 30 2011, 12:46 AM)
Is it so critical that you must see and  have a 100.00 % charge but not 99.99% ?? If you read the FAQ I pointed to you, it even advise you not to have phone 100% fully charge
*
QUOTE(waveweaver @ Aug 30 2011, 12:46 AM)
AFAIK as long as your charger still chuck inside your phone then at Battery Status will continue says 'charging'. It only sometimes when you take out your charger, your battery status went down a bit like 98%.
*
QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 30 2011, 12:48 AM)
Right and many users will still be asking why I see 100% , after I disconnect charge immediately drop down to 98-99 % ???

You guys disabled the full charge notifications izzit? It goes to 100% fine, and gives me an obvious notification and tone here. Also, the batt is never REALLY fully charged unless you charge it when it's turned off.
*
Only possibility I can think of right now is that Lite'ning ROM has the notification disabled. Either that or there's something wrong with the phone, hahaha.

Yep, I just double checked. While there's nothing in the Lite'ning ROM changelogs, there is supposed to be the option to set it on or off under Sound in the Settings menu. That option is nowhere to be found now, so I suppose it has been removed altogether.
