Dang!! I want!! brows.gif

On a more serious note, his eye look pretty sunken to me. He probably lost for few days oredi, or his owner duwan him anymore. I think u should bring him to vet.

Whiskas is no good, u can give royal canin 32 (I think 34 is better though, as he looks quite thin), if u buy repacked, can get cheaper. Try find in pet store, usually they sell repack 1.

Try to count how many he eat the kibble, this way easier to know if he has any other health issue. If he dun eat/eat very little/not drink much, u might have to syringe feed him.

How is the poo? Solid or diarrhea? What colour?

If u not so scare to hold it anymore, u can try to flip it so it's on its back, if it has a belly button, it's a boy smile.gif

Cost, I'm not sure, +-50 if he don't have any health issue. Hope sifus here gib their answer tongue.gif U can check d vet thread stickied here.

biggrin.gif, take ur time, just make sure to handle it everyday for at least 30 min so it can get used to u.

I use plastic container, like those u can find at tesco or giant (toyogo box). Make sure u get big one as u need to put wheel in, and it also need space to roam/run.

For bedding, I use newpaper/fleece, haven't found 1 that suits me yet. Wood shavings is kind of messy for me.

Litter box for now I just use those rectangle empty icecream plastic container, cut a bit at front as 'entrance', and I put wood bedding inside tongue.gif

For hidebox I use ice cream container (again tongue.gif), similar to the tutorial in page 1. I think I have to upgrade to igloo though, it is quite small to my hedgie.

Hedgie generally are nocturnal, so they love dark places, but I think dim is also acceptable.. And make sure no direct sunlight..

1. U should free feed him.. Meaning there should always be food for him/her to eat. I used to count kibbles and see how much mine eat at night, and if the kibbles is all gone, during daytime I give 20 kibbles in case he wants to eat.

2. U can use ceramic bowl.. It's pretty heavy so he won't flip it as easily.. U can also use water bottle, but it is not recommended as there were cases of hedgie chipping their tooth (their tooth won't grow back like rodents, so once chipped, consider gone), and there were cases of hedgie had their tongue amputated by water bottle o.o

That's good to hear smile.gif

U can get dried mealies from pet store, but u have to finish within 7 days because the mealies will be bad after that. But there were cases of hedgies constipated eating dried mealies. The best is to get live ones, gutload them, and give to your hedgie as treats.

Maybe he/she eating because hungry. Few hedgies will gorge themselves for food, so I think it's ok. Who knows how long your little guy/girl haven't eaten. Summore now got tasty food that's why eat a lot?tongue.gif Right now I think still ok to free feed as yours look underweight..

If obese u can cut its treat, or provide a wheel for exercise. There were cases where a hedgie eat its bedding because it was hungry. That hedgie died, I'm not sure whether it died from that or what, but necropsy showed its intestine filled with bedding.

Yup, somehow the water bottle cut off the tongue.. Maybe the hedgie no patient 1, want to drink fast2.. sweat.gif

does it bother him, not seeing? unsure.gif even though people say hedgie don't depend on their sight much, I still wonder.

As you can see in the picture where he still had his eyes, they were already half way outside the socket, which made them more prone to popping out.

O.o TT.TT So kesian. Thanks for caring for him. Other people might euthanize him already. Too much energy, time, money to spend.

Aren't hedgie eyes are like that? Cuz mine looks similar.

-------------

On bedding, I use corncob, though it is not recommended because it can get stuck inside boy sheath and cause infection. Using wood bedding is pretty messy as well.

noorimanyosh, you can check hedgehog central under housing and accessories subforum. Personally, before having mine, I thought using toyogo box is good enough, but it's not, too small for hedgie. When I put litter pan or wheel, the hedgie have barely enough area to move around. Thought of connecting 2 toyogo box, but I'm not good at drilling, plus as I'm still studying it'll take too much space.

For now though, I'm using Zoozone 2, and I still think they need more space. Once I graduate I'm going to build C&C cage for them But have to find connectors, grids, and coroplast first. No sight of them in my area. Need go KL to find

For hidebox, I used to use ice-cream box, but my hedgies overgrown it. So kesian to watch them move around in that tiny space So I bought Living World Large Igloo, but the igloo is too big lol. In the end I cut an A4 box to make 2 hidebox, one for each of my hedgie I also sew pouches for my hedgie, but they prefer their hidebox MUCH more, after I put in the hidebox, never look back at the pouch. So their pouches are use only to bring them jalan2

For bedding, I used to use fleece, but change to newspaper as my hedgies love to dive under the liner. I think they like the newspaper because it's cooler? I might change to fleece liner, but maybe not now. I also used to use corn-cob bedding in their litter pan, but one only lepak there and don't want to poo/pee there, and another did use his litter pan, but made a mess going in and out, burrowing there. So in the end I use paper towel.

For toys, I haven't found any that my hedgies like to play with yet. I've tried toilet paper tube, small soft toys, foam ball... Might try small ball with bell inside next time..

On the other note, I think one of my hedgie is pretty old already.. He's from petstore, so I don't know his age, but he is very comfortable with handling, which makes me thinks he's pretty old, and his.. ball is like, HUGE, there's no way he's young (I know this isn't valid to measure his age.. but if you see them.. and he is very pro with boy time. I don't mean to make hedgie porn here. And he's too smart to be a young one). He's not wheeling nowadays, but still eat and drink, makes me sad that I might lose him soon Somehow I get the feeling he might leave me soon..

aros, saw your thread ni Petstore. I have a question, if the DOB is 11/8/2012, why are they 6 weeks in 19/6/2012? The adult hedgies prices are pretty expensive, but good la, at least people won't buy just to let them breed. I would have gotten the pair, or at least the albino, if only I have the resources for them.. Have 2 also headache already.

I have read on their genetic and coloring before, but too confusing. Not sure on the website, though. Long time already. Sorry.

Ideally, the bigger the better. IF I'm not mistaken, you need at least 4 sq feet of area, to fit all their necessities and a bit of area so they can roam about. But that is still quite small. My cage now quite cramp already, even though I don't put much in their age. They grow pretty fast, so I think better prepared a big one terus, so no need to change when they grow..

One of my hedgie died yesterday. Miss the little guy. As I have thought, he didn't stay long with us. Thanks for the joy you gave us, little one <3

Even though it's been barely 4 months that I keep hedgies as pet, I'm finding myself bored without one to care. The other one hedgie is with my fiancee, and it wouldn't be right to keep pestering the hedgie to fill the gap the other left tongue.gif

When we gonna start V8? brows.gif

I don't think u should leave it by itself.. Food will get bad leaving in the open even after a day.. And it might overturn its water bowl if u are using one..
