SME audit firm. their reason of course being performance reviewed and decided not to confirm me as permanent staff when i have been put at the sideline since the beginning compared to the rest joining the same time as me. i knew i would leave soon or later but never thought they wont even let me through the probation.

now that tax issue really bothers me. 15% is hell lots of money to me. hopefully i can get a job soon.
*
Is the company called Heng Lee Seng, by any chance? I've heard such practices being done in SME audit firms, when it is off-peak period they unceremoniously unloads the new staff.

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but the govt will tax you 15% off your last pay whether you like it or not and you can only request for a refund once you have worked for a total of 6 months in Singapore. Get your finances in order ASAP.

hi guys, how's essential it is for us malaysian working in Singapore to have CPF contribution? does it has similar percentage of contribution and emplyer contribution like malaysia's EPF? how's the standard benefits and medical care, leave etc ( can some1 refer me to any website tht has all this info?) for malaysian working in singapore.
is 2.5k sgd sufficient to live a comfort life in SG and save up? m earning rm6k in Malaysia now, got another job offer from sg where I will join a small branch of an medium european company try to pioneer sg market. can give ur opinion?
*
If all they are offering you is SGD2.5k I'd stick with the RM6k job if I were you

2.5k sgd basic and there will be other allowances but wont be too high.
current job rm3k another rm3 k I work on freelance basis during my off work hours thus not stable income....
so wondering is 2.5k consider good in sg?
*
Depends on your qualification and experience. It's okay for a fresh grad (engineering fresh grads get between SGD2.5-3k) but if you have a few years under your belt I'd say it isn't worth it.

If you can earn more than RM5k consistently back home, don't give it up for a job that pays SGD2.5k.

QUOTE(LYR @ Oct 13 2011, 08:47 PM)
no. not that one. i'm already at unpaid leave due to off-peak for 2 weeks. on the flip side, they also recruited 2 new fresh graduates.

15% of last pay (October) or the entire employment period in SG?
*
15% of your entire employment period with the company you are leaving.

I'm not implying you're a job hopper but what happened to you will give MOM such impression.

If im not mistaken, as long as your annual income for this fiscal year does not exceed 30k, you will not be taxed.

I worked about 3 months last year and I was never asked to pay tax this year.
*
The tax only applies to those who have worked between 61-182 days in Singapore, they will be taxed as a non-resident.

it's always like that. That's why it's call 'Probation period'.
*
I know, but I've always had the assumption that unless the employee gave the employer a very good reason to not keep them, probation periods are more of a formality.

Guess not.

approximately how long will IRAS take to come after me for tax payment? i really have to land a job here as soon as possible.
*
As soon as your company informs MOM of your resignation, IRAS will deduct the 15% amount from your October pay.

FYI, I switched jobs after 3 months without knowing and was put through this shit firsthand cry.gif

but you did a get job shortly after that right? my concern is still securing a job that i desire in SG.
*
I tendered my resignation only after getting another offer, so it's kind of a different situation compared to yours.

Not entirely true. The responsibility is with your company where it will hold your last month pay and deduct 15% of your overall income from it. They will then pay to IRAS and release the remaining to you.

Edit : Ah, I see how you might've misunderstood. What I meant was that the 15% of the total income over the period of employment will be deducted from his final pay, which is in October.

15% of my salary is going to be withheld by the company
for 6months because of the tax thing. By right I should be able to get
some portion of it if i do work more than 6months right?
*
Yes, you need to request for a tax refund. Email IRAS for info on the appropriate form to use.

Guys, do you know any available common rooms within the vicinity of Queenstown? My budget is about $600-700 including PUB, and it would be great to have wifi available.

I got a fren (SPR), last time bought a HDB with his sister for about $250K (during tat period each of them contributed 50% monthly installment).

Now bcos her sister wanna get married edy, so my fren terpaksa to shift out. The problem is how to sought this problem?

Her sister pay him back $125K? But how bout current market rate? Take how long to pay him back? Her sister oso did not have so much money for at least $125K.

Any suggestions guys? Or the most fair method is sell the HDB and distribute the funds for 50% each? but the drawback is need to incur more funds and time to get another HDB or their own.
*
Why is he the one who had to shift out? The sister's husband doesn't have a place of his own?
