No worries...his monthly taxi fares cost less than 800 per month.  Keeping his car, his CBD  area office car park + HDB car park + normal car parking fees +  ERP + monthly installment + Insurance + Road Tax + Fuel + Maintenance is much more than his taxi fares.  biggrin.gif

Quite true, sometimes I'm 'forced' to take cab even though I've a car, like clubbing session shocking.gif .

Guys, I need some confirmation on driving in Malaysian car into singapore. I drove in yesterday and they asked me to get an autopass which is $10 and it is deducted by 2.80 when leaving sg.

For weekends no ERP charges right? How bout if I drive in on weekdays, how would they charge me? I only need to pay $5 for the fixed ERP ?

while the NEW ceiling of SGD5k rate at 16& the CPF contribution amount is SGD800

very good news indeed. at almost sgd100 per month = sgd1200 per year. Spend less on my HDB cash top up installment each month smile.gif

For communication, just use skype. I virtually spend nothing when i call back to my hometown when using skype. Thats if i do call back which isnt often.

Food is to low, bump it to 500.

Travelling isnt so ex if your flying budget once a month.
*
you still need to have a fast Internet connection to use skype and that cost money.

Hmmmm interesting ...... I never realize there could be so many complications.

I don't think I can totally separate everything in KL, e.g. I can't sell my house in KL even if I were to move my wife and kids to SG. My parents wants to stay there. And what if I want to go back to KL once in a while, I can't sell my car, and I can't terminate my KL phone line. So a lot of these expenses are still not reduced, I'm afraid.

If my wife comes to SG with me, for sure she must work too. But in the interim period before she comes, I will have to decide whether I personally want to expand my career to SG, or here in Msia .....
*
for me i just kinda 'terminates every damn thing' . Sell Sold my house in JB, sold my Msia car, move my kids to study in Sg. Wifey now taking care of kids full time. For now, I think that's the best option for me i would say.

have u sold ur house at JB? wifey not working. wow ur salary must be high
*
yeah sold it, doesn't really make sense to keep it if the rental is not enough to cover monthly loan repayment. Getting a HDB apartment make more sense since 70% of the installment is settle by CPF. I'm that kinda ppl who doesn't really trust a maid to look after my kids sad.gif , so my wife fits in nicely. Just have to plan your budget a bit and you'll be fine, no need high salary, occasionally scout the net for good deals ...etc Groupon, Jigocity, Big Deals ....etc etc rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif .... well, i'll leave that deals part to washabushi notworthy.gif

Yo guys. Need some help here. My friend is coming down to SG this weekend for holiday.  Any good backpackers hostel to recommend? As long as the hostel is clean and not situated in the red light district, she won't mind. I remember someone mentioned it before but somehow search didn't come up anything useful.
