Any brand that you recommend? Since I am a beginner, I prefer to give high quality food, to prevent uncessary troubles...

Mixed seed contains corn seeds, kuaci, some yellow and brown nuts...

I am outdated already regarding what food is best in the market now so better to hear from others on their suggestions. Back in those days those in the first page is good, I fed my hamster last time Versele-laga (Hamster nature). That is quite good also...

Bro, can you please help me to identify what species is my hamster? I bought a pair of winter white. One is agouti color, another one is the below one. I not sure what is the species. Appreciate if some expert can confirm is it a pure winter white, or a campbell or a hybrid? If it is a winter white, what is the species? I suspect it is a blue argente winter white (red eye).

by far, the best brand I can find in msia

http://www.hartz.com/~/media/products/lrg/...1108_large.ashx

The protein is a little low but the fibre and fat are just nice. JUst have to remove the kuaci ( 5 - 6 should be given a day, not more as it is fattening), corns (flattened and the bits as they are high in sugar),

Do you have a dwarf or a syrian? Carrots are fine for syrian but sweet for a ww. Salad meaning lettuce? If not iceberg lettuce, then it should be ok

Nova: For me I've tried different ones, my girl likes them all.
My favourites so far are Living World Classic (PetsWonderland) and Vitakraft (from Nilufar Scott Garden). I'm thinking to try the one from Pets Lovers Centre with natural high-fibre food that they recommended. Not sure if it's okay or not.

Anyways inferno, my girl has been biting the metal bar of the wheel and the plastic of a toy a lot though I've given her the edible wood from snak snak. What else can I do ah? The blowing at her face doesn't work.

Mine's are dwarf...

Yes, salad means lettuce... I just bought a packet of romaine lettuce... Is it OK I just pluck a leaf out and put in the cage? They will eat when they feel like eating right? After one day I will throw them out to prevent rotten...

Anyway, any idea what is the species of my hamster based on the pic in previous post?

pretty much impossible. I had the same experience...blowing will stop them temporary only but they will continue biting later. You can give them apple wood, they like that.

As for biting the metal bar, the only solution is to change to plastic aquarium/storage box.

The base of my metal cage is metal bar... And just underneath the bar, is the bedding.. Should I remove the bar so they can be in contact with the bedding, or should I just remain the current settings? Which do hamster prefer?

Owh you're from Melaka blink.gif
I'm sure there are pet stores that sell good supplies there.

Edit: Nova by all means take out the bar! >< The hamster's leg could get caught within the bars and injure itself. It's best to remove all bars if possible (except for the cage itself, unless you can change to storage boxes as cages)

Ah apple wook okay.
The metal bar is because of the metal stand that holds up the running wheels. I've temporarily taken that one out, will replace with a plastic one soon.

But the metal bar is 1cm width, will it hurt the leg?

I am planning to breed the winter white hamster, so looking how to give the best condition for them... If they feels better without the metal bar and in contact with the bedding, I will sure to do it ^^

There's a wooden bridge for you to cross the river. The wood planks are arranged one meter apart. Don't look down and walk straight across. Fun? biggrin.gif

Now imagine your entire house flooring with wood planks arranged like that. thumbup.gif

Please do not breed your hamsters. There's a lot of things involved in taking care of hamster babies and you don't know the genetic of both hamsters. You might get handicapped babied due to wrong genetic mix. There are more than enough hamsters in this world that needs a home.

At the same time your cage is too small for a hamster. Most commercial cages are. Hamsters need more floor space rather than levels. Remove the bottom bar as it can cause bumble foot.

For more information do visit hamster hideout forum. It took me months to study and read up to provide the best care for My two.

OK, done removing it... I change the bedding too when I remove it, and now my hamsters seems to get nervous again =.=... I bought them on Thursday, and after removing the bar and change bedding, they are back to the first day condition again... Running here and there, climbing and jumping around... sad.gif

its normal for them to run around at this time. They usually get active after 11pm-12am or so depending on hamsters. Anyways since you bought on thursday just let them be...give them a week or so to get used to the environment. Try not to carry/hold them for around 1 week...

Hey guys, today my most favorite robo, Pepper, died peacefully because of old age. He is around 1 1/2 years old to date. So sad because among all the robos I have, he is the most friendly and tame, not afraid by human, and always calm. He is the first robo I ever got.

From the moment I saw him in pet shop, I already knew he is gonna be my best pet friend. Always accompany me, and always come back to me when I called his name. And so, I buried him right in front of my house, under a tree. Now I've lost a good friend, my first pet hammie and my little angel.

I always knew he is suffering of old age. He starts to get slow and easily tired. He eat lesser than usual, become thinner. He also breathes heavily like it is hard to breathe. But he always recognizes me, always likes to get on my palm and let me stroke his back gently.

Now I'm gonna miss his sweet friendly face every morning. He always knows when I'm coming to his cage and always excited to see me.

R.I.P Pepper, 2012-2013. I always love you. I hope I've always been a good pet owner to you, as you being a lovely pet for me.

Oh no >< I'm so sorry for your lost.
He died of old age, happily. You should feel accomplished to give him a happy life.
Now go plant a seed on his ground, make it bloom into something nice. smile.gif
