FD online function is indeed available . You will need to go to FD section then FD placements to do it. Upon maturity set both your interest and principals back to your savings account. This option bypass the need for the account holder collect the FD cert. I'd been using this since 2006.

About that FD on Maybank2u.I also can access that page.
Maybank give diff. amount of interest if we take different types of months(durations),lets say that if

I take 6 months and interest rate is 3.5%,
At the end of 6 months,do I get my money back + 3.5% interest rate for 6 months

OR

Do I get my money back + interest rate for each of month in 6 months.

err,does this sound confusing?

plus if i put money in FD for, say 6 month, can i put more money into the FD in the 2nd or 3rd month?

The interest rate is annual (aka yearly ) interest rate. So, at the end of 6 months, you get your money plus (3.5% * 6/12) -> 12 months in a year = 1.75%

No, you do not get interest every month.

No. Each FD is fixed and individual contract.

Do you have to be physically at Maybank to cash out the FD or you can choose to get the FD deposited into you A/C??

I cant sign up coz they said I need to link my ATM card to ATM machine in the maybank2u menu nad get the PIN number but my ATM card is here in UK la...how???I dont dare to send my ATM card to Malaysia coz you know la...malaysian courier cant trust one.

plus i dont know whether they can help about it or not.

but anyway i did sent an email to maybank2u and see what they can do.

after that choose "maybank conventional fixed deposti" or "maybank gia mudharabah",then Principal amount put all the money u got in bank??And interest payment frequency only got on option?

how long is the period that you guys choose for FD?...

1 year FD give you the best rate in Malaysia..

so thats mean 1 year in FD is even better in interest than 2-5 years?theorically speaking arent it supposed to be the longer the period you FD the better the rate?

sorry to ask this noob questions but i want to know so i wont regret wasting my time choosing the wrong period.

Basically yes, it's not worthwhile to have your money "Frozen" for few years where the increment in interest rate for anything more than 1 year is just alittle higher
