QUOTE(Minolta @ Feb 19 2006, 07:39 PM)

Say you are rich and your life insurance premium is RM10k/year and you're in the max 28% tax scale. Thats more than the allowable deduction for "EPF and Life Insurance", so you proportion part of the RM10K till the max of "EPF & Life Insurance" and put the rest into "Medical". You save 28% of RM10K a year. Much much higher than any FD rate.
*
Do you mean claim the difference of Rm4,000 under "medical"?can this be done?

QUOTE(jalut @ Mar 7 2006, 04:41 PM)
Some questions regarding stock trading.

1) What is the different between PN4 & PN17?

2) What happen if the share we already bought and later been classified as PN4/PN17. Do we still can sell/trade the share?

3) What are disadvantages of trading warrants apart from ineligible to receive dividend?

4) Anybody have traded with OSK188 online (totally online without have to call the remiser). What is your comment about their online facilities?

5) I notice that a lot of counters rising from December until middle of February before most counters drop price together. What your comment regarding this scenario?

TQ
*
My answer to SOME of your questions:

1)PN17 was formulated to replace PN4,Pls refer to the link for details.

http://www.bursamalaysia.com/website/docum...SB_%20Jan05.pdf

2)As long as the share quotation is not suspended and there is a buyer, you can still sell the share.

3)Apart from no dividend, the main disadvantage of a warrant is that there is an expiry date for the warrant. If the warrant is out of money,in most instances,it will expire worthless.

"out of the money" you mean.. how does a warrant run out of money ? smile.gif anyway regardless of whether it's in the money or out, if you don't convert/redeem/exercise before the expiry date it will expire and become worthless.
*
A warrant cannot be redeemed. It can only be excercised. whistling.gif whistling.gif

QUOTE(wodenus @ Mar 9 2006, 10:02 PM)
Why not ? you can redeem a warrant same as you redeem a discount coupon, you present the coupon, you pay x amount of money, you get something in return. Same concept right ? smile.gif
*
I think there's difference of interpretation on the term "redeem"and "excercise"here.

AFAIK,in Malaysian context, redeem is used in relation to loan stocks that are unconvertible,ie,on maturity of the loan stock, you just wait and the issuer(or borrower)will send you a cheque .This process is known as Redemption.

In the case of warrants ,like what you described, you fill up the excercise form, pay the excercise price and you get the underlying mother share in return. This is known as Excercise. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(mobiusone @ Mar 24 2006, 09:29 AM)
guys,heard the news?

short selling is available again.

BUT..only a certain counters only and you need to borrowed shares to short sell, like you need to buy the shares first,THEN only you could short sell it...meh

Looks like the goverment is still ball-less,when it comes to all out or the "REAL" short selling like foreign markets and the futures market.

whats your opinion on it?
*
Before short selling was suspended at the height of the financial crisis, only the big boys benefitted because only they were in position to borrow the shares.Small guys like you and me could only stare by the side in envy mad.gif .Let's hope that this round,Bursa will make it easier for the small guys too rclxm9.gif .

Not all things are lost. There is still single stock futures where you can shortsell rclxms.gif .Bursa stated that single stock futures will also be introduced shortly.Nonetheless, there will still be some fine differences between lending and borrowing(short selling) and single stock futures.Until the details are announced,we could only make guesses.

Single stock futures,IMHO,will make the Malaysian stock market more interesting and will reduce the distance between Bursa and a real world class exchange.

QUOTE(mobiusone @ Mar 24 2006, 11:00 AM)
well, according to the article written in the star
less than 100,that means all of them are blue chips shares?

single stock futures..that would be interesting too,and i hoped it doesnt fail like the previous stock options, and i satisfied with the current index and palm oil futures.
*
Previosly, only blue chips stocks qualified.I remember one of the critirion was 1 billion mkt capitalisation.

I think the takeoff of Single Stock Futures(SSF) will be slow considering the low level understanding of futures in this country. One of my main concern is the support by certain "unknown"forces on the prices of GLCs.This will distort the mkt price and will be extremely risky for one to short SSF of GLCs.

only GLC stock has ssf?
or all?
*
Not all and not necessarily GLCs.Usually, liquidity, mkt capitalisation and concentration of shareholdings are some of the critirea.

Have to be extremely careful when buying Mesdaq counters. Some have no fundamentals to back up at all.See Kzen, revenue of 200k only in the last quater which work out to about Rm1900 per day.Even a coffee shop can do better.

http://announcements.bursamalaysia.com/lin...age.nsf/lca.htm

this is the kind of counters which should be avoided at all cost. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Gravity,

We do not have proof whether it is legal or not, however, if you put it the other way round, we also do not have evidence to show that it is not illegal.

Therefore for this, perhaps we can stop discussing too much about such investment here as it may be quite misleading for layman who are just browsing this topic for investment tips and he came across this.

Thank you very much for understanding.

Yes,if there is no clear regulatory frame work,it's better to stay away.

If in doubt,do not invest.

Why not we leave this swisscash thing alone and move on with the investment topic as suggested by the Moderator,Mr. Geminist.

At this point of time,no one is going to win the battle since only time will tell!

Today's tornover in Bursa was over 2 billion units and I believe it's all time high,Rinngit also appreciating which is a sign of funds coming in,be it hot money or genuine long term investors.Does this signifies the start of a bull run?

0.4% ? where did you get 0.4% ?

I think the lowest you could get is 0.42%.This is for internet trading and must be collateralised. No service or advice.

Day trade is 0.15%.similarly must be collateralised.

hiaya person behind is repco lau lar, full name is lau hock lee.... next counter being cook by this syndicate is syf. but my advice is dun trade in this counter, very very tricky counter. very much unpredictable.

Those counters where Deutsche bank is activelly buying and selling, believe to be associated with this group.

IFCA down by 13 sen now,but SYF is up.Must be extremely cautious if u want to joint in the Merry Go Round hosted by this group.Else, you will end up with the hot, sizzling potato in your hand. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
