as far as i know,no other way.from what i read previously in xda, people say gingerbread has some different setting(which i not really understand)that prohibit u from rooting by soc or other.thats y cf-root is created.maybe u can try with soc 1st,but from what i read,it will not fully root ur device

After upgrading to 2.3.5, anyone here notice that when full animation is on, the lockscreen tends to lag awhile after you sweep to unlock it?

For those who have a battery problem with SGSL, here some tips base on my experience and its really works! before this my battery seem so massed up! just 8hour with nothing?? WTH!! Now im just enjoy my long life battery, its been 1 day and 7 hour of using it..
here some ss.. 1. I just prefer to use the 'manual ways'.. 2. This is for a root user, meaning root your device. 3. install root explorer. download from here! smile.gif RootExplorer 4. Use your phone until the phone switches itself off (battery empty) 5. Switch on once more to make sure battery really is 0% (it will then immediately switch off once more) 6. Now, keep switched off (!), plug in charger & leave in charging until 100% 7. When battery is full, switch the phone on, unplug & check if the batter immediately drops 1 or 2 % 8. If battery immediately drops, plug in charger once more (while running phone) & let it charge completely 9. Once charging to 100% is done, don't plug off your charger, open your root explorer, at the top just click mount R/O, then it will set as mounted as R/O. 10.Ok, now open the 'Data' folder. 11.In the 'Data' folder, keep scrolling at the bottom and you will find 'System' Folder. 12.Open the 'System' folder and find 'batterystats.bin'. 13.Now you have to delete the 'batterystats.bin'. How to delete it? 14.Tap the 'batterystats.bin' and it will show the file option, select 'delete'. 15.Once it done, quick the root explorer and use the phone as usual until it switches itself off (battery empty). 16.Please don't charge your phone if the battery are not completely empty. 17.Charge your phone while running phone as usual until it shows 100% battery. 18.make sure that during discharging, don't reboot your phone or the system will create a new batterystats.bin file or if already made, it will get corrupted and you will have to start again from first step 19.Done this in 4 or 5 cycle, i mean the step 15 until step 18. 20.Now enjoy the 'long life' Samsung Battery Life!! Note: these methods are not permanent and your battery stats may again get messed up any day, then you should repeat the method from first step. |

There are 2, CF-ROOT-DXKP9-10-11-2011.tar and CF-ROOT-DXKP9-Ext4-With-Extra-06-11-2011.tar. Since I'm on stock 2.3.5, I should get the first one, right?EDIT: rooted succesfully. Now might wanna try EXT4. How to reverse from EXT4? Does EXT4 give a significant speed improvement? This post has been edited by Dannyl: Nov 13 2011, 01:23 AM |

EDIT:i think the only way to reverse ext4 is by reflashing, since its the only way to reformat ur file system. and plz take note the steps of do backup before conversion and restore after conversion and only then reboot is very important to be followed.phone may end in bootloop if u straight away reboot without a restore. So, all are in consensus that 2.3.5 brings better GPS performance? For those who agree: 1) May I know how you determine a GPS lock (other than use GPS Test)? 2) Did you upgrade at service center or yourself via Kies? Thanks. |

Anyone else facing this? If you are really critical, can notice that touchscreen is less responsive in GB too. The pin # lock screen is very unresponsive. |

anybody knows how to swap int<->ext memory after upgrade to GB just like in Froyo using SOC? After upgrade to GB, all application move to SD card (internal memory in Froyo) can't be used...
