I've just bought my 4830TG-2450M model about 4-5 days ago.

Now I have just one question;

Do you guys think there is an auto cut-off technology that allows the laptop to run on AC power directly without going through the battery?

Because I know if my battery discharges and recharges as I'm using my laptop with the adapter plugged-in it will somehow decrease the battery performance over time more quickly.

I had to do a fresh install on my new 4830TG and I don't find the name of the driver for the USB3 port. Also the multitouch gestures do not work so could someone tell the name of the driver i should install?

edit. This laptop is the model sold in Germany. (4830TG-2434G50)

The detector doesn't detect the touchpad but I can try both drivers.

now window media player is using intergrated graphic. i try to change it to use nvidia. but it only hv intergrated graphic display. other program like chrome can change to use nvidia.

If you want to force a program to use Nvidia gpu go to Nvidia control panel and click Desktop - "Add run with graphics processor to context menu" . Then rightclick Windows Media Player icon (from start menu or desktop) and you should have an option to force it to use Geforce. You can also set defaults for programs from Nvidia control panel but I think the intel GPU is also capable of playing most videos(?).

Has anyone tried to use two external monitors with this? I am aware that the Nvidia gpu is limited to max two but it could be possible to use three monitors (Laptop screen + one to vga and one to hdmi) because this has two graphics cards?

No, it won't damage your battery, once the battery fully charged and connected with AC power it won't use the power from battery. I have been using my laptop like that for the past 5years and only 30% wear.

Hi all, I'm most probably be buying this laptop. But before I make the final decision, can owners of this laptop share some of your opinion on it? The 4830TG with i5-2450M and NVIDIA GT540M graphics.

What are the colour choices by the way? Cause I don't like the navy blue one.

Acer 4830TG was a good option 9 months ago.
There are better options out there now.

Care to enlighten me? One with almost the same price tag as it (RM2599)
