Hey guys, currently planning to upgrade my car's ICE and now deciding on one of these 2 HU - Pioneer DEH-6350SD or the Clarion FZ709A

Pioneer DEH 6350SD

vs.

Clarion FZ709A

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...9477&hl=clarion

The Pioneer is at RM499 and is pretty much your usual HU with SD card slot, USB slot and CD playback with normal buttons and the 7-way joystick controller thingy while the Clarion is slightly cheaper but have extra Bluetooth support, but lacks SD and CD PLAYER(yes it doesn't have a cd-player built in) but it does have a gorgeous faceplate and touchscreen sensor which i'm afraid might be too complicated to use during driving rclxub.gif

both HU also offers 3x High-voltage(4v) pre-outs so in terms of audio output it should be the same i guess or at least pretty similar.

So guys, what say you? Should i take the risk and take the Clarion? Or should i just go with the norm and take the Pioneer? laugh.gif

Hey guys, wanna ask does anybody have the problem where the car engine dies shortly after you start it from a cold start? Mine does after a few seconds and you have to rev it abit to 'warm up' the engine first to prevent it from dying rclxub.gif

Did a throttle body cleaning already from Thundergod and still same problem. He suspect might be the ECU bug acting up. Any other recommendations? hmm.gif

Well he offered to update for me for a fee and if the problem still exists after the updating he won't charge me. Now just waiting to send my car for service at my local mechanic since i only gotten the car like 2 weeks back laugh.gif

Added on August 16, 2011, 4:49 pmOwhh and guys, whats your average FC for your waja?

Mine's a 2001 manual and i just finished my first tank. 52L can go 529km so that averages out to 10km/l and mostly city driving with some highway driving. Usually my revs are <2k unless on highway. How's yours? Now after doing the throttle body cleaning from Thundergod hopefully will have some improvement laugh.gif

Btw guys, what tyres you recommend for the stock 195/15" rim? tongue.gif

and should i get a tyre with 50,55 or 60% thickness? hmm.gif

just last week my cousin got me a pair of tyres for free and i went to a Proton service center somewhere in jalan ipoh which was his friend's shop to get it installed and they told me that my current tyres are 195/55/15 and the tyres my cousin gave me was 195/60/15 and they said if i put it in the front it would be unstable so he put it at the rear but what i know is that the Waja's stock tyres are 195/60/15 and the speedometer is also calibrated to the 60/15 tyre size if not mistaken right? rclxub.gif

maybe he meant the engine feels further away from the driver which means less noise and vibrations? laugh.gif

the timing belt price seems to be expensive hmm.gif
brake pad i will go for something better, other than bosch, some performance pads, you can try ceramic blend type of brake pads.
tyres i recomemnd to get something better than radial, like yoko c drive is a better choice.
what's the tangki for? coolant is cheap.
steering bush i recommend to use PU bush. u can contact elton for more details.
absorber mounting its better to get proton ori mounting.

is there additional for service charge??

your HU looks very nice and cool.  thumbup.gif
*
not sure about the timing belt. Mileage now at 67k and i asked my cousin he said usually ppl change at 80k? But mine's like 10 years old. dunno still safe anot rclxub.gif all those quoted in the list is just quotation only, not yet confirm laugh.gif got the quotation from QuickSave in USJ7 btw. The tangki is the radiator. Radiator top part got hole coz one of the mounting snapped so kinda leaking fluid i guess so that involves removing everything and sending it to welding doh.gif elton got sell bush also ar? didn't know that LOL! Well, he calculated everything around 16xx but he say prepare for rm1700 i guess. The absorber never count coz not that important next time only do. problem is just some sounds when going through bumps, nothing major. And thanks! should be installing it later 9am laugh.gif

QUOTE(ThunderGod_Cid @ Aug 20 2011, 12:03 AM)
they prolly want to take off the whole radiator and service, looking at the amount of coolant they quoted you.

I'd suggest you try my peregrine universal coolant as it isnt confirmed that Toyota's coolant can just be used anywhere.

You may wanna contact Fineworks Stephen home garage for a better price on the timing belt, etc
*
yeah, got hole at the top of the radiator which was why you said the pressure was weird that time. it wasn't coz of the radiator cap but coz of a hole in the radiator which is represented by 'tangki' in the quotation laugh.gif will contact you next time then. called you just now wanted to ask you about your Liquimoly oil but you never pick up rclxub.gif

QUOTE(dares @ Aug 20 2011, 12:56 AM)
Hey everybody, I own a 10 yo Waja auto 1.6. I find my car to be quite underpowered lately, early morning start would easily stall but once leave it alone for a few seconds everything is fine.

The when climbing slope, if I stop halfway up then lift my legs off the brakes, the engine vibrates as if going to stall until I press the gas pedal again.

My mechanic say probably the throttle body going to kong, but he say he'll clean it first and see how. Well, the stalling in the morning has reduced, but the slope scenario still happens now and then. So now is it confirm that I'll have to replace the TB?

Or is there other areas I should look out for to improve my engine's performance?
*
Same car, same age, same problem, same solution offered but havent try yet laugh.gif

QUOTE(mxsteven @ Aug 20 2011, 03:00 AM)
2000-2002 Waja normally have morning sickness which can be solved by patching the ECU firmware (update firmware), i dont think the TB will KO so easily, just perform 3bond cleaning and retune back the ECU back to the correct stepping rate and its done...

Improve engine performance try to reflash the ecu.... simple and most effective solution. If you reflash ur ECU, you may get the package from Thundergod_cid where it solve the TB and morning sickness as well.

Added on August 20, 2011, 3:02 amNightstalker1993..... your absorber is quite expensive... try to check with alif ... his nick something B53214 with Apple support Avatar (here goes again hahaha)

i got my absorber from him below RM400 for 4pc Ori Proton.
*
The absorber i'm not gonna change so soon coz i got alot of other stuff in the list which is alot more important like the leaking radiator, discs that are completely worn down, worn down steering bush and my 6-years old tires which have cracks all over rclxub.gif

Thanks thanks! But mine confirm nothing la compared to yours tongue.gif laugh.gif

hey bro, wanna ask you abit on the 898g alarm awhile can ar? Got some problems even the installer not sure so i'm going back again tomorrow once he calls his supplier

When the alarm triggers, the starter will be disabled right? I tested just now and with the alarm armed, once i turn the key into the on position the alarm goes off, but the engine can be started doh.gif i ask the technician and after he check the wiring diagram he said he never connect one wire and since that time quite late already, he said require about an hour to do that wan so i'll go do it tomorrow instead.

Another thing is the anti-hijack system thats written in the manual. It says there if the engine managed to be started, i can kill the engine remotely by pressing a button and waiting 20 seconds. I tried that and it never happened. Asked the technician and he said coz my car don't have a fuel-pump cut-off thats why it didn't work so thats kinda logical i guess.

Lastly, the shock sensor is supposed to be a 2-stage sensor right? Meaning when it detects the first shock it will beep a few times and stop and if theres another impact within 15 seconds then the alarm will go off right? Mine when it detects shock, the alarm will beep 4 times then straight away go off. No 2-level sensor thingy. he say he'll call his supplier and double check with them whats the problem so yeah. Either way i'll have to go back to his shop tomorrow rclxub.gif

Mine is just a desktop in the car hahahaha

... The 898G alarm is considered simple, it seems like the installer did not install the cut off relay for your alarm system. This shows that the installer is a newbie because 898G is a very simple alarm and it should work with flying colours. I bet your installer dosent know about his product very well. The function just check and verify with the manual or can also ask thundergod_cid or whitelighter because both of them is using suckmate...oppsss i mean steelmate  tongue.gif  tongue.gif
*
dunno la but when i ask he provide all kinds of excuses. Guess thats what happens when you go for the cheapest offer online doh.gif The most stupid thing is when he say 'got too many function, some ppl don't use all' as an excuse doh.gif

well, according to him:

Starter kill problem = he never wire the thing to the alarm, will do it tomorrow
Car immobilisation after startup = my car no fuel pump cut off, but dunno true anot. Coz if the car can be started and turned OFF remotely, why can't i turn it off through the remote also when the engine is running? Only diff is that in one scenario theres no key in the ignition and the other scenario that had been bypassed doh.gif
2-level shock sensor = Might be setting or alarm faulty, he will check with supplier tomorrow and tell me.

Don't la call it suckmate, spent my hard earned money on this man, and my pay is just from a part time job LOL laugh.gif as long as its not steal-mate then can already laugh.gif

haihz... should have gone to EA instead cry.gif

all fuel injection cars will have fuel pump... if he did not use fuel pump to kill, well he can use ignition plug source... anyway this suckmate better than my crime fuxxker alarm system

at least your crime fuxxter alarm system had a proper installer unlike mine doh.gif

hopefully my next visit tomorrow will sort out all my problems.

LOL! Was considering that also but then the size of the remote itself is humungous and it was more expensive than the Steelmate so i opted for that instead laugh.gif

Anyway, just came back from the shop again and installed the fuel-pump kill switch. Now my car is finally safe LOL laugh.gif Stupid thing is that after i came back i found out the temperature sensor wasn't working doh.gif In the end i opened up the console myself and just reconnected the loose wire lol. Lazy go back the shop already doh.gif

dude, how much you install the alarm?
car stealer suck big time.

installed it for RM430 flat lol. But better you go to EA and do i guess. Slightly more expensive but i bet will have alot less problems during installation doh.gif

the person who did mine apparently was a new worker so he quite blur blur lol. At first he didn't even install the immobiliser for me until i tested it doh.gif

anyway, overall good alarm. remote start feature is awesome, only problem is the 4km advertised range can barely touch 100m once you enter a huge building LOL laugh.gif

and what you mean by car stealer sucks big time? your car kena?

hey guys, i'm changing my tires soon, any place to recommend that is cheap? Planning to get the yoko C-Drive laugh.gif

or any other better tires to recommend? hmm.gif

btw, recently from thursday to sunday been working part time in Sepang and i noticed my fuel usage. On pure highway, travelling 150+kmh average and sometimes hitting 190, my fuel consumption increased by a whopping 100km per tank! rclxub.gif

now only i know how much difference highway drive vs city drive makes to your fc LOL laugh.gif

Manual of course. 2001 waja with 67000km on the clock and expired 6 year old tires on the front and bone stock everything, other than a cleansed throttle body with thundergod's threebond laugh.gif

well, its the highway to sepang so its pretty damn wide and the road is straight the whole time so.... whistling.gif laugh.gif could've went faster i think but then got car in front so have to slow down after i hit 190

but then the speed on my speedo and my GPS is different. when my speedo says 190, my gps says 180 sweat.gif
