i love to hear music n browse internet, playing games sometime. this my first time to try android phone. really need recommendations.
i'm already made a survey, and already recognise these 3 phones was in my budget, SE W8, Huawei U8650, and n csl mi350. but I dont know which one to choose..

Mi-350 is a dual sim phone. Since your budget is below RM700, I suggest you either top up another RM100 and get the Huawei X5 or go for the cheapest one, CSL MI-310.

So which phone should i choose..

Hmm. Do you intend to use your phone as a source of music or are you intending to plug in headphones. If you intend to plug in headphones, I suggest you get a headamp cuz the stock sound quality on the phone is a major drawback compared to its predecessor. I won't go into detail cuz it might derail the purpose of the audiophile section but if you're interested in learning more feel free to drop me a PM.

Back to your question, your requirements are pretty general. So all I can say is this.

If you're going to customize(root/custom rom) your phone in the future, I'll say the SGS2 would be better for you.

If you intend to use your phone stock, then the Sensation. But as far as I know, the screen sensitivity issue and the sharpness issue is still not yet resolved. If it doesn't bother you, go ahead with the Sensation.

Sound quality wise, if you're not planning to use a decent audiophile grade headphone, it doesn't really matter. The difference is not significant.

IMO, HTC Incredible S should fit your requirements as Ori sets can be gotten for around 1.5k these days.

The design is quite unique and the build quality is satisfying as I was a previous user. Battery life wise, it lasts up to 2 days for me with moderate usage. The camera is also quite powerful.

QUOTE(ArianneG @ Sep 14 2011, 03:23 PM)
Looking for new phone, within next 2-3 months most likely... Current phone is Nokia E71 (haven't updated the firmware since I bought it in 2008, paiseh)
1. HTC or Samsung preferably, but any Droid smartphone that fits can consider.
2. ~RM1200-RM1400; if there's any RM1k and below I will be *very* happy (I know not likely to happen though).
3. Good screen sensitivity and user friendly UI, big screen (but not too big); WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G a must (I like broad connectivity options), app friendly installation wise (might install quite a lot of apps), good battery life (1 day plus or more on normal usage with WiFi but not 3G) don't care so much about camera or looks as long as they're decent-- hopefully fast performance with no lag or hung apps so good processor and RAM and memory required. Hopefully coming with newest Android system, or if not, can be rooted easily. GPS would be nice too.
4. Size is not really an issue, so long as it's not too much bigger or heavier than my E71 (114 x 57 x 10 mm, 127 g). Will be using mostly for normal phone functions, emphasis on SMS and calls; reading ebooks and text-heavy documents a lot, surf the internet with Facebooking, play games (what else is App Market for LOL). Flash a bonus but not really necessary.

Sound quality: as long as the voice quality is loud and clear both on speaker and normal headset, and ringtones don't sound too tinny, it will be acceptable. I don't really listen to music from my phone.

Lastly, the phone needs to be solid with good build quality-- I can't afford a phone that will die if you drop it by accident on the floor. I really don't care if it looks fugly as long as it works very well and can stand rough handling.
I was considering HTC Salsa before this as I saw this place selling ori set for RM900 (supposedly ori anyway) but someone told me it wasn't really that good for what I'd be doing with my phone. Sifus please advise! Thank you.
*
Salsa is more of a social networking phone. Unless you're a facebook/twitter enthusiast, its pretty much useless to you.

1k and below, there's only two decent phone to recommend you. Huawei X5 and CSL MI-410. The latter has a 200mhz advantage over the former but the difference is not huge. Since your budget is around 1.4k and you read text heavy documents, I would suggest you get the HTC Incredible S. The screen is not as saturated and as overwhelming as phones with S-AMOLED screens so it won't be hard on your eyes. The camera is pretty powerful too. HTC's phones are famous for having good build quality so that's one thing you don't have to worry about. Just get a decent casing.

Size wise, its more or less the same as your E71 but you'll have to go try it out yourself.

QUOTE(jamesl @ Sep 14 2011, 03:43 PM)

My main concern would be speed, and 2nd is battery life.

Speed wise, Sensation/S2 is roughly on bar. Battery life wise, it depends on your usage and eagerness to flash kernals/roms.

If you are, then the S2 would be better.

If not, the Sensation/S2 is the same.
Even though the S2's stock firmware is not as good as the Sensation's.
The S2 has an edge if you use a black wallpaper due to the S-AMOLED+ technology.

SAMOLED has better contrast but the colours are too saturated and it uses a pentile subpixel arrangement which makes texts a bit more fuzzy compared to the traditional RGB subpixel arrangement on the SCLCD display.SAMOLED also uses more power.Based on that i'd take the SC-LCD display instead of SAMOLED.

About Gorilla Glass,it 'should' be scratch proof but the one on my Galaxy Tab last time was scratched anyway when i put it in my backpack blink.gif
*
Power consumption wise, it's subjective. If you customize your whole interface into a minimalistic black one then the S-AMOLED would definitely consume less power compared to the SCLCD. Text wise, its not noticeable or disturbing in any way so I don't think its a big problem. Saturation wise, it can be adjusted from a background effect setting in the display section. It has been stated over and over again. The Gorilla Glass is not scratch proof. Its scratch resist.

Not sure. But most of them have been reported to have Gorilla Glass. Its not really that big of a deal though. Its only scratch resistant.

HTC phones are easy to use due to their properly built stock firmware unlike Samsung/other branded phones. Not due to HTC Sense. HTC Sense has a very good GUI though.
