The only problem with auto switching is OpenGL application. If you're not using OpenGL i think it's best to use auto switching.. unless you wan in control all the time.

It is recommended to do a clean reformat because of the amount of bloatwares in our laptops, however I did not do it. Maybe u would wan to uninstall some softwares that came preinstalled, but it is not necessary at all. I did not do it if u ask me. U can skip the reformatting and follow the later steps.Not necessary to follow 100%, just do what u think is necessary. Its all okay

So you'll have an OS without bloatwares. Honestly i didn't reformat mine since it didn't have much bloatwares to start with. You don't need to follow the guide 100% anyway.

OpenGL not really dominate games, its DirectX.

OpenGL is more on graphic, i think i can set my 3ds max 8 to run on directX if i recalled...

F.1A is the latest I think, and obviously the latest is the best due to the fixed graphic capability.
You should leave it at auto if you do not use any OpenGL programs ( google if u duno ) . If you want to
have fix graphic also can, maybe u can put it fix when you are at home using the AC/DC adaptor and choose 6770m
as your main GC. So at home you can game as well. Seriously, its up to personal preference.
But just so you know F.1A is the latest and a very important bios for fellow 6114tx or 6108 users that requires the
usage of OpenGL. If you dun use, u dun even need to update the bios to F.1A, but for me I like the latest things,
so I updated LOL !

Added on August 9, 2011, 1:10 pmAnd , the F.1A which is the latest BIOS , allows u to choose whether u want dynamic or fixed which is an addition to the previous bios which only have dynamic. I think u might be confused that the F.1A only has fixed function and not dynamic , but it has 2 so if u wan switchable graphics according the the programs opened u can use dynamic. And if u wan to use openGL program that the dynamic would not be able to switch to 6770m GC , u can use fixed and choose 6770m which will run 6770m regardless of whatever program you opened. Okay i hope i clear ur doubt. A very good laptop for the price we pay. Seriously you cannot argue, LOL ! for model 6114tx at least.

If u're playing minecraft u should use manual, if not just leave it to auto. Latest BIOS like avengers88 said is F.1A. 2nd post got link to HP website show how to do graphic switching both auto and manual.

Yeah they always stack it up =.= Will look like a mini mountain.

In 2nd post there is a link to the HP Official Drivers/Utilities/BIOS/Application.
Video card switching are handled by graphic driver.
Most if not all of those OpenGL game listed has DirectX mode as well except Minecraft.

DNA 11.8 preview driver is not for Mobile with switchable graphic. It will disable Intel Media component and render 3D acceleration useless. I tried and phailed.
