A too powerful brake, if applied just like that, locking of the wheels and sliding, due to limitations in the tyres, no matter how expensive the tyres are... unless maybe F1 tyres.

agreed!

too much braking will throw u off balance. especially when braking into a corner!!! sweat.gif

and u cant simply jst dump in a 4-8pot caliper into ur car. there's quite alot to check on. whether the ABS works fine or not is one thing. u need to check if ur master brake pump cylinder is sufficient for the job or not.

u'll also need to relearn the method u brake and the pressure u applied on the brake pedal if your car doesnt have a ABS or with an ABS.

one of the pros of it ofcourse u have better braking and u can out brake opponents. another pros is that u need way less effort to brake.

also service the piston if u decided to upgrade. some old calipers; the piston might get jammed.

too much braking?? no such thing to me.. i dont believe theres such a thing as too much brakes...though there is such a thing as overkill i.e. kenari with 6pot brakes etc...but still its NEVER too much...

at the end of the day... its ur foot thats controlling the brake force.. so ull need to relearn and ur good to go..

not enough brakes... yes that i believe in and that sux.

Depends on whether your car has ABS or not or whether you can control the brakes like its your own feet. The purpose for more braking power is to let your car stop faster but there's always a limit as to how fast it can stop, slam the brakes, that stopping imediately, but the tyres loose grip and you glide on the road, yeah, like you said, you need to learn to control it.

ABS again...
ESP again...

zzzzzzz

sick and tired of this discussion again...

again ABS is to let u steer the car with maximum brake force applied that otherwise will lock up your wheel...

there is more to that then just slamming a 1000 pot brakes into a car...
and there is a reason why manufacturer put certain types of brakes into the car....

FD2-R has only 220NM++ torque but uses brembo 4 pot...
mazda 3 MPS has 400NM of torque but uses a single pot...
so go figure...
smile.gif

edit:
sorry, i am very touch about this ABS/ESP thing from my previous discussion with noobs that dont know what is ABS/ESP/Hill climb assist that insist otherwise...

=.=

maddriver,

He missed the "top" in front of the word overhaul is it?

Added on August 4, 2011, 4:15 pmBy the way, what is hill climb assist? What does it do?

Added on August 4, 2011, 4:19 pmOk, found out the answer, I think part of this has to be blamed on the manufacturer's marketing team, its no wonder some ppl think it helps going uphill faster, because the right term should be Reverse Downhill Prevent, lol...

u cannot blamed the marketing team as their job is to attract attention and in this case, they have managed to get what they want, which is attention...

i put the blame sorely on the reader...

if dont know ask la... what is so malu?
even i go around asking maddriver and others about things that i dont know...
