Just now i went to Bintang Megamall Miri and CSL group are promoting their new android lineup, the csl Mi350. This is the first dual SIM android phone to be known so far.
The offer price/starting price is MYR699 and will increase to MYR799 after promotion ends. It is bundled with froyo 2.2, 5mp camera, and 3.5" screen.
Seems a good deal and better than Mi310.. btw, no info about its processor and graphic. assuming this is a low end android phone for those who still dont wanna leave the ease of use of dual SIM phone.
I get a chance to play it in my palms. The build is pretty solid and the camera part is good looking. Doesnt look like cheapo Mi410 camera.
I give a 8 out of 10 for design.

I bought this phone and my comments are below:-

poor reception;
call drop easily;
can not hear clearly for BOTH parties, the voice keep on interrupt and sinking...

All these are basic requirements of a mobile phone which CSL failed to achieve!

Not sure what problem with you phone, my one working good......
But if you has reception problem, call will ez too drop and also the voice keep on interrupt and sinking,
this will be normal....
Buy the way, has you test in full signal.......If full signal has this problem, than will be problem.

You can't recive 2 incoming call, only 1 call in and 2nd call will in busy.

Yes, only sim1 can use 3g, Sim2 is normal line.

If you has call recive in sim1, you will no recive call from sim2, it will be busy.
Like i has Digi in Sim1, Maxis in Sim2, only 1 call will recive,

i think the price is reasonable enough since the spec of the CSL phone are higher than its price..

Its will be great if more CSL supporter.

Been using it for two weeks, below is my finding:

1. GPS can easily detect satelite but will take some time to lock it. Once locked, next lock will be fast. Still looking for software to speed up satelite locking time.
2. using Papago GPS software, no problem.
3. With WiFi permanant on + 2 lines turn on, can last 11 hours before drops to 5%.
4. No problem receiving call. Sound is clear.
5. Speaker sound will 'break' when vol set to maximum.
6. Initial tested with Digi 3G, not very stable. Later tested with Singtel 3G in Singapore and has no problem. May be my area (kepong baru) Digi 3G is not stable.
7. Performance wise, is acceptable. The 4GB MicroSD is not enough. I put in 16GB MicroSD.
8. After installed software, need to move it to SD card or else you will run out of internal storage space.

600+ not too cheap? this phone's spec can eat samsung galaxy ace easily, as for the UI, there is always LauncherPro, ADW Launcher and Go Launcher on the market.

max memory they say is 32GB, but dunno real o nt... 16gb confirmed no problem.
as for the battery life, no chance to test it.

For battery, normal use 1 to 2 day no problem...
If you heavy use, sure 1/2 day will finish.
Same as other Smart phone also.
Has to see how you want to use you phone.....

to justify my statement of the capability of mi350 can eat galaxy ace, compare with quadrant banchmark score
i tested on mi350 the other day and it achieved the score of 920.

Tested this phone just now.

For RM699, it's not bad at all.

my gripes

- Small-ish screen
- Rather low resolution
- Slow processor

But on the upside

- got FM radio
- dual sim
- good built quality

overall, between this and the ZTE blade, both also good

last week, my wife use the phone until no more juice. then try to charge it back but fails to charge it, even leave it charging for one whole week. when charging, the four keys light come on but the charge cannot charge the battery. then lasr sat sent it to CSL sc. the tech help to boost charge the battery and everythings back to normal.

so, moral of the story is DO NOT fully discharged your battery or else u have to pay a visit to sc.

I am a newbie in android phone and currently using cslmi350

correct me if I am wrong, the internal memory of this phone is pretty low (32MB?) and can only installed a few apps/games.

Although it can support external SD card, but not all apps/games can move to sd card. Am I right?

Not Memory than is rom or internal phone storage, CSL Mi350 has 512MB off Memory and Rom, The Android OS is take about 300MB ++,
So, You only see About 150MB Rom only. Now you only see 32MB cause by you has install other application and games in the phone, it take out the Rom. You move the application and Game to SD card also, than will be need so file in the Rom, after you move to SD Card, still has some space take out from rom.

What I know on this,
512MB Rom or low - This phone only can use as low application and games only, just install the item you need to use only to get more rom or application and games. For Games, just install Game you need to play, if no playing, just uninstall it.

For who want install more application and games, you has to get 1GB rom or more Android phone, The more Rom is more batter.

I am thinking of getting this phone. How many custom ROMs are there out there for this phone? I intend to get an Android to play with custom ROMs

hi, does anyone encountered the phone will auto reboot itself?

My friend and my unit will auto reboot by itself few times a day. After reboot, sometimes it cannot detect appl already installed in SD card. need to manual reboot until it can shows all installed appl.

btw, the phone is not rooted. There is around 45MB internal storage left.

i live in singapore and always going to JB, therefore i need a dual sim phone.

bought this Mi350, the only word can describe this phone is "suck". If you have an option, DO NOT buy it, it is a pretty shitty phone.

I bought it only 2 months.

1) auto restart often

2) auto off very very often, i wondered how come no messeges or push mails coming thro' and found out this shitty phone was already off completely.

3) after restart, it cannot mount the application in SD card, I have to use the USB cable to activate. Do we often carry USB cable and computer by using a stupid phone?

4) it takes about 20-30 minutes to serach a network, if I am in JB, my Starhub line will take very long to connect. When I go back to Singapore, it takes 10-15 minutes to reconnect back to Starhub.

5) Basically the Network Serach is not working at all. I am curious what kind of CSL engineers dare to design this kind of stupid phone?

6) Very often, while I am in JB, the Digi internet cannot log in, I have to restart this stupid Mi350 to activate the network.

Conclusion:

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. IT WILL MAKE YOU CRAZY.

I BOUGHT AT RM699, WHO ELSE WANT TO BUY IT, 2 MONTHS OLD ONLY.

AS MENTIONED EARLIER, THIS IS A SHITTY PHONE.

after approximately 2 months of using this phone...

Pros:
- dual sim android phone.
- cheap?

cons
- underpowered
android phone are now going to 800MHz - 1.2GHz range for the processor, and having 600MHz processor will make this phone feel outdated. worse, this is DUAL SIM phone, which put more stress on the phone.
take time to change orientation, so most of the time, i just lock the orientation.
- small internal memory
512mbs is total memory, but available memory is about 158mbs, but with some basic apps (better launcher, better keyboard, widget) u will left with only 40-80mbs, which is very limited. so u can only install several apps only, and most of the apps, you have to transfer to sd card.
- low resolution
- insensitive screen
sadly, despite advanced of touchscreen, this phone screen is not sensitive. even worse if you have big finger.
- unstable
if you leave this phone without much change, the phone is just fine. but it's will get unstable when you start installing multiple apps, change the launcher, keyboard widgets and what not, and root.
- limited support
it's hard to find discussion on this phone, unlike mi300 and mi410. no ROM yet found on the internet, no update yet found in any forum. this phone only have one twin, which is viewsonic v350 (unlike mi300 and mi410 which have several twin)

other
- battery
full use (games + radio + wifi) - approx 3 hours
minimal use - up to 2 days

list of games
fieldrunner HD - take time to load, but rarely lag during games.
tap tap revenge 4 - *not recommended* take time to load, lag (lag is a very big issue here)
cut the rope - no problem

in the end, there is yet a dual sim android phone that reliable. u might end up using 2 phone.

very true. especially when you have many apps installed. to avoid this, restart the phone with charger on. if the problem still persist, remove both simcard, restart the phone, wait about 30-45 minutes, then your apps will be load back. then when you want to restart your phone with simcard, make sure restart with charger on.

in the end, it's up to you. with this price, if you really want an android phone, better buy single sim phone.

i have using this phone for 1 and half month, so far no problem and already rooted using superOneclick. Still searching for custom rom but as expected *dispointed*

Would you mind detailing the steps you took to root your CSL MI 350? Thanks.

1. download a copy of rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
2. download adb standalone from somewhere.
3. Download busybox binary from somewhere (google is a good source for locating stuff)
4. Download Superuser and rename it changing .apk to .zip, then extract the su binary, then rename it back to .apk extention.
5. open cmd console in the folder where you have all of the above files.
6. adb push rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin /data/local/tmp/
7. adb push busybox /data/local/tmp/
8. adb push superuser.apk /data/local/tmp/
9. adb push su /data/local/tmp/

in console now type
adb shell
will put you into linux console on the phone, now run the next 3 commands.

chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
cd /data/local/tmp
./rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin

you will be dropped out of shell back to cmd

type adb shell again and the console should have # instead of $ (phone is now temp rooted)

mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock8 /system

chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/busybox
cd /data/local/tmp
./busybox cp su /system/bin/
./busybox cp superuser.apk /system/app/
./busybox cp busybox /system/bin/
./busybox chown root.root /system/bin/su
./busybox chown root.root /system/bin/busybox
./busybox chown system.system /system/app/superuser.apk
./busybox chmod 755 /system/bin/su
./busybox chmod 755 /system/bin/busybox
./busybox chmod 644 /system/app/superuser.apk

now you can reboot your phone and it is permanently rooted and you can start fixing all the annoying issues plus getting rid of alot of the CSL junk files etc.

(the reason superoneclick & others don't work is, most phones use /dev/block/mtdblock3 for the system mount instead of /dev/block/mtdblock8, this causes issues).

csl sell only RM400+++ at wisma CSL glenmarie hi park. starting5-7 january.

for those who just only use prepaid only..this is ur plan to use two sim card.
one for celcom skmm broadband, and one for ur life...jimat2..macam pakai smartplan

currently using blacberry curve 9300, sadly cannot surfing internet properly..when surf heavy load website, the browser close automatic...not enough memory...the price still +-RM700....

Just bought this Mi350 yesterday (18/1/2012) at Low Yatt - but I got problem to connect to internet! Can't even update or install anything...
I hv try connecting thru my home wifi.. it's connected! But can even enter Android Market!
So, i try using my boradband sim card..I manage to register my gmail.. but then still cannot enter Android market!
What should I do? Should I replace the phone or is there any setting that I should do?

I'm using my HTC Desire HD for almost 10 mths now.. I'm quite familiar with android. Bought this phone for my son. But don't know how to troubleshoot the internet access for my CSL Mi350. Please help!

I can answer for him. CSL is having a sale at the ground floor of LYP. RM499. The sign says "save RM200, normal price RM699".

I thought of buying this for my mom. Then read about the problems above. Decided against it. Don't want her to call me to go do free tech support every other day.

I have this sim card not available problem when using Umobile prepaid. Currently using celcom sim with no problem. Anyone facing the same issue? Wonder when android 2.3 will come....

same here. cannot use umobile in sim 1, but sim 2 is ok. i think it's 3g roaming problem.

official update not sure, but in xda forum, there is 2.3 rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338718 but link for the required file is broken. not sure if there is other way.

yeah... it is the Muchtel A2 stock rom i tried before.
stock launcher is much smoother while scrolling
but currently i using a viewsonic v350 custom rom "firmwareultimate1.2.3.7z"
i like the ui:
slide to unlock
custom bootscreen with silent boot up sound

it is still best to hv a bkup of csl froyo 2.2.2 rom in case we nid to send to cust centre for some warranty replacement

about backing up current rom, a clockworkmod recovery is needed
apparently i can't find 1 for this model.

now im using this firmware but when the data gsm/wcdma trigger(3g,edge,hsdpa,gprs) error will pop up..so it will automatically refresh your sim card..any idea that can i do to prevent the issue?? for wifi working perfectly

Is it possible to use one broadband sim on one slot & one normal sim on the other slot? Then the bb sim i use for tethering (mobile AP).

today i go pertama complex got csl promo. dual sim android from 299 to 699 depending on the model. mi450 also cheap.
