while waiting for custom rom, we can actually do some tweaking and change the notification icons just like how a custom rom look. u can changing the battery bar to percentage, change the signal bar, even the windows animation..
more info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284613 all u need is 2 files from ur phone. take note u need root explorer which can get from market. and while copying the 2 files from phone to pc is easy, the replacing part is kinda complicated. Suggest following this steps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=837470 took me quite sometime to figure it out especially the replacing part.. here is step by step. 1. use root explorer and copy "framework-res.apk" in system/framework folder and "systemUI.apk" in system/apps folder to your pc. 2. in the kitchen site make your selection then upload both files. Wait for the file process and download it. 3. remember to keep a backup of both original files, then copy the new files to your phone. 4. open root explorer and mount /system in RootExplorer as "rw" (or just mount everything as "rw" to make it easy) 5. Copy framework-res.apk from your sd card to /system (this is because you need to change permission in the next step and you can't change permission in sd card) 6. set file permission like the picture in the 2nd link above. 7. move framework-res.apk to /system/framework and restart phone. 8. repeat step 5-7 for systemUI.apk (but replace in system/apps instead) and restart phone. so far i have only change the notification bar icons and battery into precentage as the rest like boot animation isn't really interesting to me lol.. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by annoymous1234: Oct 14 2011, 09:56 AM |

Any method to change kernel or baseband? Previously I said that my phone suffers with battery draining problem. I tried to change battery with my friend's sgs+ which battery works fine but the battery draining problem still occurs, it won't last than 24 hours even I put it idle. The differences between my phone and my friend's are the kernel and baseband. I couldn't find a link to change it, I mean easy way, not a pro here

After flash it suppose to be a fresh new phone right? what kind of format did you refer to? The kernel is 2.6.35.7-perf root@DELL148#1, anybody having the same one? because my other friend which has a working fine sgs+ has a different kernel. I read about people says that kernel was a major factor of battery life. It's that truth? This is how the battery drains after I flashed the kp4 (without any single app or widget) I put it idle for an hour - 3-4% drops I put it idle when I off to bed - 23% drops. (roughly 4-5 hours) Before that, the original rom was like that too. It's actually my friend's phone. Just trying my best to help. |

I didn't slot any sdcard on it. Everything is fresh new, no apps, no widget, only the original apps come with the rom. Nope, no data turned on. The battery usage was phone idle 50% and cell standby 50%. My friend did use juice defender with the original rom, still no luck with that. I'm sure it's not settings problem because I tried the same settings with my nexus one. The only thing I haven't try is the kernel |
