6770m 3dmark11 results, best score P2028:

http://3dmark.com/search?resultTypeId=232&...0&chipsetId=678

555m 3dmark11 results, best score P1889:

http://3dmark.com/search?resultTypeId=232&...0&chipsetId=679

Both best score OC and probably has differences in term of CPU and other hardware. Moreover it is only a synthetic benchmark. Real world gaming is best to verify who is better, but it will be very much dependence on the game itself. Some games run better in nVidia, some in AMD.

It'd would be best if someone can compare those 2 with identical hardware and on all major games, but I dont have those data.

Based on synthetic benchmark above, 6770m is better than 555m. Now, it's your turn to prove me wrong. whistling.gif

going over factory default.. there must be a reason behind they do it this way?

overclock, heat, power consumption, reduced lifetime? hardware stress?

you mean why manufacturer set it to lower clock speed?

When manufacturer make a GPU / CPU of the same class (for example 5650, 5730, 6550, etc all with same SP), they are all made alike. They do internal benchmarking, those good quality chip will end up having higher default frequency. Make sense to reduce cost as well.

However, over the time of making the same chip, the process improved. Each chip can therefore run at even higher clock speed. But because there are still demand for low-end chip, they cant stop producing it. They cannot simply role out 5650 at higher default clock speed, although in many case it can run at 5730 speed. So, they still stick to its default clock speed.

Clever users _will_ take advantage of this. Not-so-clever user stick to its default.
