agree with chem on Maybankard 2 Cards but chemistry, I think you got confused MBB World MasterCard with MBB Platinum. MBB Platinum don't grant you access to Golden Lounges but to MBB Private Banking Centres.

oops oops, my bad.
I edited my previous post as corrected. Thanks to Gen-X.

Oh.. thanks sifus...
Btw, the reason why i chose Public Bank just to avoid the hassle since the bank already know my bank transactions, n ect.. Well that what I was thinking.
So.. now should I just cancel the application first n apply for Maybank or CIMB card or... dont have to cancel it but apply for another card with the different bank?

I dont really care bout the benefits n ect.. coz once i return from oversea im gona cancel the card anyways.
*
well , you may let PBB proceed with your application, but don't forget you'll need to pay RM50 tax for this new card. Unless you don't bother about RM50 lor...

Yes, either Maybank or CIMB Card Centre can issue new card within one day.
Why must cancel it when you come back? Don't you use credit card? It is very useful tool to manage finance. Spend within capability will not harm you anyway.

Well, you may not need those benefits and privileges, but since you need the card urgently, you can only apply for premium cards like MBB Platinum Visa or Mastercard at Maybankard Centre, or CIMB Visa Signature at CIMB Card Centre (Sunway Pyramid). MBB is preferred due to lower admin charge for foreign transactions.

Since now im going to US for a month i think better I apply credit card, dun wanna bring a lot of money there.. troublesome. But I dont travel a lot so will apply back if theres a need in d future. I dunno whether this approach is ok or not but I always will go for cash unless if theres no choice.

Haha, you live your way, we don't want to sound like forcing you to use cards. tongue.gif

1. Annual Income: RM30K to RM60K
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must
3. Card required for: Petrol, Cash Back/Rebate Only, Overseas Transactions, Free Lounge Access
4. Existing credit cards if any: Citibank Clear Card
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Maybank
6. Others: None
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: RM 1k to 2k
*
A combo of Maybankard 2 (M2) Gold and OCBC Titanium will cover almost all your needs.
M2 are free for life, while ocbc titanium annual fee can be waived by just 12 swipes in a year.
There is no GST waiver for M2. However, OCBC automatically waive GST for annual usage more than RM10,000.

For Lounge access, you may need to apply additional card such as Standard Chartered Business Platinum (or normal Platinum) for unlimited access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge only. However if you put it in drawer everyday and only use it to get lounge access , I'm afraid annual fee waiver is unlikely.

There are alternative such as Alliance Premier/Platinum debit cards, but number of access is limited on monthly quota basis.

Given that your monthly usage is not very high, M2 and OCBC Titanium suffice already. Give up that lounge access.

3. Card required for: Petrol, Toll, Phone bill payment

OCBC Titanium.
5% cashback on PETROL/UTILITIES/DINING/GROCERIES everyday, subject to total cashback RM50 per month.

Petrol:
No need to ask "Is today a weekend?", or "Do you accept Amex?". Simply refill and get rebated.

Toll:
Sorry, no Zing card with OCBC. However, you are advised to reload your TnG with your OCBC Titanium card at Esso/Mobil gas stations.

Phone bill:
Can use OCBC Titanium to pay various telco bills via PayOnline (also entitled to 5% cashback).
note: PayOnline doesn't accept Amex.

Better still, spend RM10,000 or more with the card and get GST automatically waived by OCBC.

If you don't mind refilling gas only on weekends, Maybankard 2 is your solution. Maybankard 2 Amex has got points and cashback on everything, hence match your selection criteria.

Otherwise, go for OCBC Titanium Mastercard. 5% for petrol/dining/groceries/utilities everyday. Easy to pay bills as well because Mastercard is widely accepted.

1. Annual Income: RM60K
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must (pref if can waiver the annual RM50.00 as well)
3. Card required for: Petrol, Overseas Transactions, Free LCCT/KLIA Premier Lounge Access, Online Purchases. Best if can accumulate multipled points per dollar for gift exchange (lame i know...). Good reasonable (non cut-throat) exchange rate when buying overseas would be good too (are there any cards with such benefits or catered for such needs?) - just wondering out of curiosity.
4. Existing credit cards if any: HSBC Gold Mastercard
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Standard Chartered Platinum (currently offering RM188 cashback)
6. Others: Please be specific. I need the card before 19th April 2011 (flying off for biz trip overseas)
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: varies on mood....... sometimes less than 1K, sometimes a few K. Sometimes 0 if my darling scold me for overspending... sigh...
*
Maybankard 2 (aka M2) caters to all your needs (petrol, multiple pts per dollar spent) except LCCT/KLIA Lounge Access. For this purpose, you may consider SCB Platinum since it has RM228 bonus and unlimited access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge (please note that LCCT lounge is not included). SCB Platinum also earns Triple Choice Pts for spending in foreign currencies.

For overseas transactions, it is known that M2 Visa/MC offers very competitive forex rate.
M2 Amex can be used as well, but its conversion factor 2.5% could offset the 5X TreatPoint earned.

Anyway, I am not sure whether can get these cards in such short time.

agree, debit card is like straight away use the money from saving account

If Maybank debit card also offer 5X TP + 5% cashback, who wants to pay RM50 GST?
Credit cards must have certain advantages over debit card to grab its market share.

Hi Guys,
Just got my HLB Classic, AmBank Gold and CIMB classic.
But dunno should i cancel HLB or not. Since what i know the benefit of HLB is only points and installment @ 6% which is relatively high.
Any advice should i keep HLB on top of the other two cards?
Thank you.
*
If your CIMB Classic is a Mastercard, I think you can utilize it better at Giant/tesco/kfc/guardian on Sundays. That RM50 GST can be earned back in very short time.
