Can't track anymore ur data usage. Software tracking not accurate with ur ISP tracking. Have to refer ur ISP. Myself using U broadband prepaid can check via USSD *118#.

No the router does not supports USSD on itself. U have to use a mobile phone or any other method. For postpaid broadband eg maxis they offer web portal to check usage. I guess prepaid only can use USSD to check.

I'm using this modem too. I have been using for nearly a year now after I got my iPad last year. I wanted to share out my connection.

Anyway, my setup will be as below:

fruitie's modem: ZTE MF622 ISP: Maxis 3G Unlimited Internet

So far, I have no complaint for it. It is good and stable. The only bad thing is it is bulky but thank God it is light enough for me to transport back to hometown when I go back. biggrin.gif

Another reason why I bought it is because I didn't want to waste my current USB modem. I could have bought a HSPA MiFi but that basically makes my modem go wasted.

I prefer LAN connection to my laptop and WiFi on my iPad.

I bought it at RM 103 and that was last year, nowadays it is getting cheaper. Really worth every penny spent.

So, do u all want to add to the list?
BTW, this HW550-3G just a router that no build in modem function. Still need a 3G modem dongle or ADSL modem(TM streamyx).

user posted image
3g wireless gateway, no need 3G modem dongle. The 3G modem build in already so there is a sim card slot/tray to slot in the card. I believe this have higher gain/ reception strength due to power by direct power suply not via USB port which only 5V. Last time Maxis got provide rental this type modem and now pull out already. This not cheap need approximate RM400 source: http://www.3gmodem.com.hk/Huawei/E960.html

Damn it, I brought it @ RM 105 last night in Kota Kinabalu!

But it still worth to have, I feel that is faster then I connect directly to my Huawei modem to my laptop's USB.

My setup: modem + broadband modem Huawei E156 (DIGI)

In KK, I believe that should be considered reasonable. Considering the transportation fees. smile.gif

By the way, TS, if you want to you can add me into the list. I have no problem with it. smile.gif

Huawei E1762, you will need to update the firmware most likely if you bought it last year.
http://www.aztech.com/support/downloads/pr...category=prod3g

Read this to understand more: http://suibian-anything.blogspot.com/2009/...ess-n-plus.html

However for ZTE MF190, I'm not so sure. smile.gif

When you are using MiFi, either you let it charged using USB power or get a plug that works with USB cable. smile.gif

i hav 2 MiFi actually, the older E-5830 cannot use WiFi while charging, meaning ONLY charging or WiFi-ing at any one time, whereas the newer one E-5830S can charge while being WiFi-ed out....BUT I wont use it tat way as it will "kill" the MiFi + battery faster. just imagine if you use your lappie with the battery + charging at the same time, wat will happen to your lappie's MoBo and Battery Life and Adaptor life ? icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif biggrin.gif

and btw, dun use the USB Adaptor shown cause they may not be rated for your device wattage, i always my Ipad USB Adaptor to charge my USB devices thumbup.gif the battery last longer cause u knoe Apple stuff la brows.gif

It is U mobile issue. I am fine with 64kbps, but it is the inconsistency that touches my nerve.

You are fine with 64kbps? That is something which I can't accept at all. sweat.gif

Yeah, disconnections can be annoying at times.

Well, if wasn't because i need to save cash to upgrade my ram and improve cash flow situation, i would be subscribing to another RM28 package. Slow is ok for me, but the inconsistencies is the one always touches my nerve. That's all.

I open one page at one time or open many come back later. FB slower a bit, but it is ok if the flow is consistent.

I am using Digi Postpaid, I can't upload anything while plug it to the router but when I plug it direct to my laptop it works normally.

Tried with Celcom card with the same modem, work normally.

Wrote to Digi but they cannot give me a solution. Looks like I am the only one having this issue. sad.gif

Actually I got to know this for quite sometimes but only tried it two days ago.
However, it wasn't that impressive compared to connecting it via HW550.

Not sure which factor causes it. hmm.gif

If it is impressive, I would have the E1762 hooked to my laptop and share out my 3G connection.
But too bad, it wasn't working well for me. Additionally, my iPad can't seem to connect to it.
Kept appearing the authentication page whereby I was required to enter the username and password which I have no idea what are they.

Yes, reason being the router causes the limitation. smile.gif

Nevertheless, if my housemate decides to ditch her E1762 away and gives it to me, I don't mind giving this method a second try.

DO NOT BUY AZTECH HW550-3G!!!!

Their support team sux!!!

It's been more than one month now and they still can't provide me the firmware for my new Maxis e173 modem.

I sent in my e1762 to maxis for warranty and they gave me a new e173 and it's not working with my HW550, so i wrote to them and no reply after one week, then I forward it to their marketing, only then i get some reply.

After one month of ding ding and dong dong (they require my modem serial number la, FCC, FID, VID bla bla bla...) and came out with a 201.106.3-045 firmware.... and it didn't work... so I have to write in again to them and guess what, they ask me to bring my modem to their office so that they can test it out remotely from Singapore so that their software engineer can remote login to use my modem to write the firmware... WTF!!! I don't work for them ok... my time are more precious than to drive all the way to their office and let them test my modem.

I have other modem that works with the router, but as a customer, I just want to excercise my rights to have them write the firmware.

From the beginning itself, i already told them, Maxis is giving out this new modem for months already, just go and get one from Maxis... for godsake, it's Huawei modem... not any cap palang modem... I even cc the email to their Sales Manager, Marketing and their Group Director... all of them got no balls to reply me.

Anyway, who wants to buy my HW550-3G... I will throw in a Huawei e169 (white or pink - i have 2) that works with the router smile.gif

damn..just bought one this morning, and it failed on me.
The moment i switched on, he green led lit.....then blinked. few seconds later no lights...tot it was rebooting..till i smell something burning.

Called Aztech, said they'll replace 1-1. Called the shop and they said can 1-1 exchange from them also, bubt i lost my confidence so i asked if i could get other brand (TL-MR3420) but other brand unavailable (with 3G router). So i'm stuck with aztech. i chosen because hw550 supports usb hdd and printers. Now, my petrol and toll to get for replacement just not worth it. at least they offer 1-1. i havent had the chance to test my 3g yet... pssst savagez, can pass me yours? hehehehe

sorry it's vodafone e160 (aka k3565).

Condition - Dead on arrival on 2nd day, claim warranty 1 to 1 @ Aztech office (waited for 2 hours for them to certified it's dead - Great Service!). Hardly used, put at my home town and use only during weekend, box and receipt still around.

Warranty - over liao - bought last year July 2010.

So price... hmm... RM90 with a e160 modem (from celcom-vodafone but I unlocked and debranded, no need to install vodafone driver & mobile connect, direct install mobile connect driver from the ROM - can be used with any provider)

Personal warranty - 1 week. wub.gif

Great news, I got 1-1 replacement in 10 minutes. I asked the person who changed it for me, " dah test ke? nanti jadi lagi susah pulak. Baru on dah rosak", she said "dah".

Worse thing.... It failed and the burning smell in the air again. When I check with my multimeter, the adapter output was 40V instead of 12V. No wonder! And I have to go back to get another replacement. Crap! Double crap!

Cost of going to their service center is almost RM30 of gas+toll. Going there again tomorrow?? Ended up like paying almost for 2 units already. c'mon!!!!! If they replaced the whole set or even properly check like what I have asked, this thing wont happen!

Great customer service (quick replacement) but very2 bad in terms of proper checking. Lack of testing procedure i guess. They only test to verify the returned items but not the ones their replacing. Do I qualify for any compensation?

Hi. I bought off the this 3G modem at a regrettable price and am now trying to get it work with U-mobile's ZTE MF190 USB modem.

Has anyone here successfully done it? And if so how did you go about getting it to work?

Just want to say that I've been using this modem for a week plus with my U mobile ZTE MF 190, and its working absolutely fine.

Great to know it has a button so I can turn off 3G anytime (dont want to overuse my quota), and can play my PS3 online in my area now.

Btw, anyone here uses this modem to play PS3 games and know how to get a better NAT. I can get up to 2MBps (not spectacular but still way way better than any other telcos in my area) which normally means a better PS3 NAT connection but it still worse compared to using Streamyx 1 MBps (from my friend's house).

There's a button on the front of the router. Just press and hold for about 2 seconds and the 3G light will go off. to turn it on again just do the same thing. It's the first button from the left.

ZTE MF691 and Huawei UMG1831 cannot work with this router

not even with the new and latest FW

maybe highspeed Modems have a different structure, thereby HW550 is not able to utilise it yet

So frustrated using Aztech HW550-3G at PD home. doh.gif I think I'm going to switch to TP-Link for PD as well. shakehead.gif

OK, what happened was I bought a U Mobile SIM pack recently and wanna use it with my old E1762. smile.gif My sisters are all on U Mobile and we know the connection is good in PD, bought the SIM pack and plugged into my E1762.

My nightmare begins when I wanted to use it with the router, I can't access http://192.168.2.1 page. How can I configure it? doh.gif Speed was super slow, less than 50kbps. Not possible as my sister achieved more than 3Mbps on her iPhone 4S, also on U Mobile.

Never mind, plugged my E353 which is with Maxis SIM card and it works flawlessly yet I still can't access http://192.168.2.1 rclxub.gif

Reset the router few times and still can't connect. doh.gif

Can anybody shed some lights to get it connected to configuration page? cry.gif

Now I'm using direct plug in E353+Maxis because I can't set password for my router. doh.gif

Hi all sifus wave.gif

So glad to have found this thread, I've just bought HW550 and I need help. I've done the set up to use my Maxis modem with this router and it works fine. However, everytime I switch the router off, I need to do the whole setup process again to use it. There's got to be something wrong right? I mean they can't expect us to leave the router switch on 24/7 right?

I'm pretty sure I followed the instruction correctly and I've made sure I tick the "always connected" column. It works fine except I need to do the whole setup process again after I switch it off.

Anyone else having the same problem? What did I do wrong?

Thanks in advance sifus.
