I really doubt the dealers are willing to upgrade the laptops for us.

If they were to upgrade, how would they deal with the non full hd laptops?

I think MSI should do something about it like recollecting the non fullHD ones and upgrading them and sell as refurbished or something.

just my 2 cents..

I doubt Malaysia has any i5 versions.. while other country has.

I am pretty sure Justinhopaolo is not from Malaysia or he did not purchase the unit in Malaysia.

And temperature reaches 90C is normal. Max on Furmark was 93C for me.

kinda upset to know that the fullHD LCD upgrade for HD versions of GE620DX will end at the end of January.

I am still in overseas and will be missing out the upgrade for existing customer.. I hope MSI have some explanation to do with this.. because I have contacted them since last Dec since I heard the upgrade.

I pmed MSI-MY and this is what I got

"Dear Batusai,
I'm sorry that the upgrade is only comes with clear panel. And after the end of January, this upgrade will stop. Hope you understand. "

I hope someone can clarify me? Perhaps Sanko can help?

the battery does not charge when plugged in when its at 95%. so your laptop is running on just AC power.

Regarding the wear level. Its pretty weird. I got mine with 0% but now its 4% already.. I tried battery calibration once but it remained at 4%.

did you charge the battery for 8 hours before using it?

Im not sure how much percent my battery came when I first bought but the first thing I did was to charge it 8 hours straight with the laptop off.. overnight basically..

Probably its just some circuit in the battery not properly heated up yet for use.

Well.. you've gotta ask MSI regarding this matter.

1 to 1 exchange within 7 days means that if you find any problems with the laptop within 7 days of purchase date. you can get a 1 to 1 exchange directly instead of having to send it back to service centre for repairs etc.

I had BSOD problem when i first got my GE620DX and I did the 1 to 1 exchange.

there are total 4 screws under the GE620DX backpanel

2 screws should be visible, 1 is under the warranty sticker, another one you have to plug out the battery only can see it.

zzz..so warranty voided if i tear off the sticker?

nope. MSI-MY has already clarified with us that the warranty wont be voided if the sticker is torn. The backpanel gives access to everything.

Yup. Just make sure you dont tamper the stickers under the panel. those will cost your warranty I suppose.

Ahh. Its not my first time using FullHD screen. Well. Its just plain awesome to me.

Its definitely note sharp. Icons and everything will looks small which some people do not like it.

FullHD movies would look great on it. Normal HD movies or those dvd ripped RMVB will look kinda awful, you'll notice the pixels.

gaming would be tough on native. Normally I use 1600x900 or 1440x900 which is very good already. COD can go on native, Battlefield 3 only manage 1440x900. Do update the latest Graphics driver. Has alot improvements to it.

Do check which LCD you got when it comes back. At first I got AUO which had dead/stuck pixels and got it change into LG Philips now. But are equal quality but just from diff manufacturer.

QUOTE(simiid @ Feb 26 2012, 02:07 AM)
Hi,

I'm from Europe and I have the opportunity to buy this laptop GE620DX-297NL.
The default configuration is something like that:
i5 2410, 4GB Ram, 500GB@7200, 1920x1080, GT555
and the seller is offering me an upgrade to have it like this
i5 2410, 8GB Ram, 750GB@7200 (WD Black), 1920x1080, GT555 ... only ram and hdd upgraded.
1 .The final price will be 1000 USD. Is ok this price for an i5 version ?
2. How is the laptop ? Are you satisfied guys with it ?
3. Also, if the seller will open for upgrade, can he mess something to not work ? Or for upgrading the hdd and ram to require more power and to be designed for default configuration ?
4. The hdd has a fixed position or you can put the cables so so as in desktop if you are not pushing them firmly ?

Thanks.
*
1. The price seems good for it. The processor and GC seems to be the older version. Do check if there is the newer processor like i5-2430m. If you are not using it for heavy work, 4GB ram is quite sufficient.
2. I am satisfied with mine. Its a mid range gaming laptop best bang buck for its price and performance.
3. Find out if the seller is a authorized dealer. IF he only upgrades the HDD and RAM. then warranty shouldnt be voided. But this applies only for Malaysia, you have to contact MSI Europe for more info. Upgrading RAM and HDD will not really take up alot power than your default configuration. The power brick is 120W so its pretty sufficient. I do no have any problem even thou Im using a i7 processor
4. I dont quite understand the question. Laptop hdd has a fixed position/slot. It is screwed to a caddy and then put into the slot where its screwed in to hold. It does not involve any kind of cable etc.
