Thanks, you answered exactly to my questions.

Yes, the cpu is the older one i2410, but the difference between i2430 is only 100mhz and that's all, not like the previous i5 480m which is totaly different.

Yeah true enough. Its not much of a difference but well. getting new stuffs is always better right? Since they are rolled out and the price is same as the older one.

Instead of upgrading ur hdd? you can opt for a caddy to replace the ODD which is what I am doing now. Spend the money on SSD instead if you have the cash. Since HDD price are soo expensive now.

Congratz in your purchase! biggrin.gif

1. Yes it has optimus. I didnt have any problems with games or software using optimus. So far so good. If you have any problems with any applications not utilizing optimus properly just set the global setting to use nvidia.
2. I Dont really update those drivers. Normally I check out MSI website for drivers update. As long as they are working fine.
3. There isnt much bloatware with this unit I think. I have the Nuance PDF reader provided, S-bar, Battery calibration installed. Battery calibration will be useful in the future when u need to calibrate ur battery.
4. There should be a recovery software in the laptop. Try looking for it. It will do the job I think. But I normally do a backup into a CD and rather utilize the HDD space.
5. Look out for the release date. Afaik I have never updated S-Bar yet.
6. This I dont quite undersatnd. Mine is THX TruStudio Pro. Its working perfectly for me.

Thx for reply.

1. I mean that when I run 3DMark 2006 with laptop on battery I get 3300 points no matter what I do. If I plug in the charger, I get 10500.
Why I don't get same score only running on battery as well ?
6. There are 2 applications for THX:
THX TruStudio PRO which works perfectly and THX Speakers EQ which starts but no install screen appears.
7. Regarding the hdd wd 750gb scorpio black. Even when I do nothing, the led it's still cliping at a 3-4 seconds interval and it's a thin humming noise in silent environment Who is accessing the hdd ? Is this normal for this hdd ? How can I avoid this ?

Thanks
*
1. Yeahp, thats where optimus comes in. Without the battery, the GT555m will just run at lower clock speed. You'll get lower performance of course. That explains your scores.
6. I tried the THX Speakers EQ as you said. Same case for me. No install screen whatever. But I checked task manager it does run and installs then disappears. Just wondering where it is installed. But not really a big deal for me. THX TruStudio Pro is enough for me.
7. hmm. I am using 500GB Scorpio Black myself. LED clipping/glowing is just normal. It simply means the HDD is still up and running. As for thin humming noise. I think its really normal but how audible is the noise I cant tell. I have a cooler under the laptop and music on most of the time. So the noise is insignificant to me. I did my own hdd upgrade smile.gif I feel its quite normal. Bear in mind is a WD Black, it will spin faster than 5400rpm hdd and consume more power and produce more noise.

@ninjacoww

From the looks, asus seems to offer a better deal with bluray and 7200rpm hdd.

RAM are fairly cheap now and 4gb is sufficient enuf unless u are doing heavy work.

You should check out reviews for both laptop. I am happy with my MSI ge620dx without complaints. Asus quality has been going down for me. Look out for any complaints or problems with Asus if you can.

Based on specs offered, i'd go for asus. But well I'm happy with my msi not giving any problem

Thats a damn good deal with SSD.. i5 would be sufficient for normal use IMO, unless you're doing some heaving tasking that really need the extra cores.

when gaming, my GPU temp is constantly 93C.

damn high temp. so far i have not experience issues, but i'm afraid the gpu lifespan will be shortened considerably.

you guys got crazy gpu temp too?

The china brand one. someone posted ealier. Its all standar size like the ODD. Just the outisde cover, u have to dismantle from the Original ODD and put into the caddy.

Nothing will happen. lol.. It wont pop out of anything.

I bought a GE620DX from lowyat on the 29th of June 2012. When I tried to register the product on MSI's official website on the 30th of June 2012, it said there that the serial number has been registered. What does this mean? Does it mean that it is a refurbished unit? Can anyone please help me? MSI-MY? Sanko? sad.gif
*
from where did you buy it? you should contact the shop or seller I think

Well I guess you'll just have to wait for MSI-MY to get it investigated then.

If the laptops doesnt cause any problem. I think the registration stuffs can be changed easily.
