And most of the nice little stuff like BT not working yet, so no. They ARE called nightlies for a reason.

Thankfully I'm still happy with VR2.0 with stuff taken out manually, currently compensating for the lack of air video on Android with the AnimeWatch app + vplayer. Great streaming solution that crunchyroll can't even touch.

It's sad the AW app is no longer on the market and you have to google it to get it.

Oh, and turning off HSUPA really makes connections far more stable, maybe local telcos have crap implementations of the tech? I mean I could NEVER edit posts here on the mobile theme before (or maybe that's just LYN fixing itself).

Plus I never get H-3G hangups any more. Although one bug is the indicator never shows H any more, maybe because it's technically one way HSPA now (HSDPA - download, HSUPA - upload).

So EVERYBODY else gets the Galaxy S2 Z after this from Maxis? Just lol.

Anyways, I just managed to cook my first theme on the UOT kitchen... Wooohooo!

http://uot.dakra.lt/

Choose your customizations, upload framework-res.apk and uisettings.apk and you're all set. Hopefully my cooked files DO NOT give me the 5% battery status-bar FC problem that has been going around lately.

won't be Z coz the spec sheet they never change...
pic change for fun? anyway they just out stock from lunching until endless =.=""

PLUS, if they sell the Z for the same price, Maxis has dropped to a new all time low of cekik darahness.

My new emblackened Zeebug with black notification bg, nice new emblued icons and scary dividerless lists (seriously, dividerless lists look just... wrong).

There's also a nice white halo around my popups now.

Coupled with the Hypertheme black dialer and no fancy smancy CRT or overscroll glow.

NOW I'm happy. Just praying continuously that my statusbar does not FC when the battery reaches 5%, for the love of god.

Does LTR have CRT? CRT off messes up smooth brightness changes IINM. Main reason why I hate CRT so much.

@fallen: That's hardly a ROM, it's just a themed/modded framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk.

IF you wanna try, sure.

BUT, I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK, BREAK OR OTHERWISE TURN YOUR SGS2 INTO A RM 2K PAPERWEIGHT.

.........

Okay, with that out of the way:

1. Get a base theme you like. Flash that.

2. Campak the theme zip onto your PC, unzip, and find framework-res.apk, twframework-res.apk (ONLY if there's one) and SystemUI.apk.

Alternatively, if you like the theme on stock litening for example, copy the files from /system/framework/ (the 2 framework files) and /system/app/ (SystemUI) using root explorer, put it somewhere safe in your internal or external SD, and copy that into your PC.

3. Google UOT Kitchen. Enter and customise each tab (not all, only what you want). It WILL be confusing at first, so take your time and explorer.

4. Upload the files as instructed under the "file upload" tab. On the right side, make sure "edify scripting" and update binary "type galaxy" is chosen. Uncheck themechooser preview.3

5. Click on the summary tab and cook. Note the order number and go to pickup and wait 5-60mins for your order to be cooked.

6. Download cooked order and flash zip in recovery.

7. Enjoice.

@Justice: That awesome blinking anim is the buggy mess known as CRT-off. And yes that breaks smooth brightness changes.

At least his baby isn't a serial flasher like mine brows.gif

Anyway, just passed 15% and no FC yet, seems my UOT Kitchen mod is working fine after all. Will monitor past 5% to see if it gives me any trouble.

Also, so malas to flash VR2.1 rite now.

NOT sure mate, it's not even out yet outside of Kr, not even from ExportPrive.

@LufftPSP: Home wake lag = phone waking up from deep sleep. So isn't not having wake lag a bad thing?

By the way, did any one of you tried using the USB On-the-go cable from Nokia N8? Does it work? Wanted to buy some at the PC shop but it looks a bit... lack of style... hmm.gif I mean normal ones...
*
Check the MicroUSB end, is it A (square) or B (normal). If it's normal it should work why not. If it's square it wouldn't fit lar.

OTG is a complicated standard, supposedly our MHL connectors (using normal not square port) isn't really adhering to the normal standard.

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Jul 21 2011, 01:33 AM)
But if you want to change the whole things like font style, size and all that. Then you have to root your phone in order to put a new rom that have a different theme and apps to your phone.
*
For fonts, just search for flipfonts on the market, install what you like, and choose from Option -> Display -> Fonts to change.

For everything else, there should be themes for them (launcher, some apps). For system changes, there's always ROMs, ROM themes and the kitchen: http://uot.dakra.lt/

But the kitchen is a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit technical to use lar, even more so then just rooting and ROM flashing. Plus you FIRST need a deodexed ROM to use also.

Oh, and I can CONFIRM that the kitchen works FINE for the SGS2 running VillainRom 2.0. No bugs, no FCs, nothing so far. Just rock solid and smartly themed everything.

So very malas to go to 2.1 right now, because usually upgrading VR = full wipe. Malasnye.

Yeah? I freezed TWLauncher and TWallpaperChooser = nothing really bad happened pun.

Last time I totally removed them pun (wasn't a part of VillainROM Lite to begin with, TW got totally replaced with LauncherPro), nothing really bad happened.

1 of the custom rom removed TW LAuncher .... Ended up with a lot of bugs and finally came out with another version in a few hours with TW launcher to solve the problem
*
Interesting. I guess because I don't really use stock apps and widgets then, freezed TW and no issues here. A bit takut to fully uninstall just in case something DOES go wrong, so just freeze.

God, I'm running such a frenken-build right now. Modem: KE4, Kernel: KG2, ROM: VR2.0 (KG1). Gila not matching lol.

Yep, i mean dual boot. That transcript i copy from CM7 OP thread. Going to give it a try this weekend. CM7 + stock or CM7 + Darky
nyumm nyumm
*
It's not really dual boot you know. What ROMManager does is backup your current nand, and load another with a new ROM backed up inside it. The backup/restore cycle continues when you change back.

That's hardly dual booting in the truest sense, but it's close I guess. ONLY PROBLEM IS, unsigned apk mods break nand backups on restore.

Not good news if you're a heavy modder relying on unsigned apk mods.

Ah. What phone is "that person" using? Some older phones (especially Sony Ericssons) convert MMS into some slideshow thing that you have to "play", even if it only contains one picture.

@luffy: There's also the N900. Android, Windows95, dos, some other weird linux shit, Maemo AND Meego. Now THAT was a multiple boot device.

Shame it phails as a phone, IMHO. Batt life was WORSE then even the SGS2 too. BUT, it was one heck of a handheld computer.

@luffy: Or so I've heard. Something like the TG01, shame that one didn't have much dev support in its old age.

Hey guys, when you open up your battery cover, did you see the gold coloured connector there near the cam module? Turns out it's an ANT100 port and you you can use an external antenna with that. Not sure its for GSM or GPS or whatevs though.

Epic nonetheless.
