if you are in the same rom..you dont need to wipe at all..its same like cognition to cognition...litening to litening..

I know that in general, in practice my VR1.4 -> VR2.0 upgrade bootlooped and needed a full wipe. NOT fun.

It was fine afterwards, but left me trauma to upgrade now lol. Resetting stuff from backups is NOT fun.

yeah with data off. i guess if all of us dont turn on data, no push mail, no whatsapp or other IMs, it can easily last more than 2 days.

WHAT? NO DATA? GASP!

On another note, Chainfire KG2 seems to like munching on battery. 4 hours screen on is pretty bad by my book. Either that or the viber deamon.

any suggestions for good alarm clock app that can play random music?

now i'm using 'alarm clock xtreme free', quite good with 'play random songs by artist' function working but somehow the 'play random songs by playlist' doesn't work on my phone, dunno is it common bug for sgs II since the comment there no one else is complaining.. also it got some nice features such as big snooze button, and can set the interval for the music to slowly increase the volumn (so won't have heart attack when it wakes u up).. optionally can set to solve a captcha or maths question to off the alarm smile.gif though i never use it..

and it's free!

another important point is... so far the comments not many people late for work because their alarm app doesn't work... lol... u go see other alarm apps, many people complaining that it fc during midnight or got bug on some devices that causes them to be late for work.. if you're scared then set the normal android alarm at 5 to 10 mins later lor to make sure got a backup... better still use another alarm clock rather than your phone la... haha
*
I'm using "Sleep as an Droid". Crap name, great sleep cycle alarm. No showstopping bugs and constantly updated (yeah, I got 3 updates just this week lol).

Gentle alarm is another good one, but heck complex compared to SAAD. Both feature sleep cycle monitoring, something I no longer can live without in alarm clock apps.

Thanks! will try them out smile.gif but what does sleep cycle monitoring do ah?
*
Put your SGS2 on your bed near your pillow, somewhere it can measure your movement (on Airplane mode if you're one of those "argh it will give me kanker" types) and it will use the accelerometer to measure your movement while you sleep, comparing that to a database of movement to determine you're in normal or deep sleep phases (like your cpu lol - everyone is hard to wake while they are in deep sleep).

It will trigger the alarm when you are the easiest to wake - normal phase somewhere near your determined alarm time (if you set 6.30 am, it will might trigger 6.00-6.30, depending on when you're in normal sleep phase).

Sounds dubious but it really does work, for me anyway. YMMV though. Also, it does NOT work if you go to sleep at 6 hoping to wake up at 6.30 lol, it's NOT magic.

bro,

what software is this?
*
Sleep Cycle monitoring alarms. On Android we have two apps that do this, Sleep as an Droid (SAAD) and Gentle Alarm. My personal pick is SAAD because it's simple and reliable.

Hopefully u don't roll over and sleep on the phone or even fling the phone out of bed.  laugh.gif

The SGS2 is fine because it's mostly plastic. Imagine my fear of this when I used sleep cycle alarms on my old iPhone 4. TERtolak = shattered glass.

I am soooo addicted to the UOT kitchen right now. Right now deciding weather to stick with a colour themed gingerbread battery indicator, or something else... Use animated statusbar icons or hoodlum's circles... What colour?!! hmm.gif

HAVE... TO... GET... EVERYTHING... LOOKING... PERFECT... ugh.

This is worse then ROM-ing.

yup yup. i experienced this. dont know how long i'll last with stock TW now.

Last time I was like this was with the i4 and Winterboard. I was FINALLY happy with my setup at one point, and a few weeks later the phone got stolen. Sakit hati.

Best thing about Android theming, is NOT having to run something in between to slow down the system (like Winterboard). Same way I theme my laptop, system files or bust, none of that WindowBlinds crap.

Hallamak, I think litening removed it then. Try installing or googling swype beta then. There's also swiftkey on the market.

@ahboy: The kernel controls charging, and rite now I think 600-800ma is as high as it goes (the ori charger is rated at 700). I use the Nokia AC-10x for all of my charging needs (rated at 1200ma), and it's charging only a liiiiiiitle faster than stock.

If you're desperate for faster charging, try the blackslash kernel, there's fast charging versions BUT you:

a)don't get to use tegrak.
b)might be able to fry eggs with your SGS2 later.

@luffy: Tried all the keyboards, keep going back to SmartKeyboardPro bcoz of it's dynamic key resize algorithms and extensive foreign laguage support.

もほかのがない、ぼくには。<- This is most prolly wrong anyway. But it's useful nonetheless.

PLUS I can never GET swype keyboards.

Personally I'm not upgrading to KG2 VR until they sort out the whole odex deodex mess currently going on. Oh, and also until Zeebug comes out for 2.1.

I've always got connection problem when using Maxis with SGSII but none with Nokia. So i change and use Maxis for Nokia while using DiGi for SGSII.

Maybe it's just a setting, maybe it'a the phone or maybe it could be a network problem, i dont know but when i change it everything good. Now no problem whatsoever. :-P

Just enter *#301279#* and turn off HSUPA (choose revision 5). It STILL happens, but much less often.

Ayooma people. Get your Gs right, jeez.

G = GPRS (2G), E = EDGE (2.5G), 3G = UTMS (3G lorh), H = HSDPA+HSUPA/HSPA (3.5G), H+ = HSPA+ (3.75G which only Umobile has ATM).

Don't be idiots like the Americans and label HSPA and above (even WIMAX) as 4G. ONLY LTE and above can be considered 4G (even LTE pun barely).

AND SIGNALS STRENGTH IS DETERMINED BY MODEM COMPATIBILITY, try flashing diff modems to find out which one works best for you.

For music or for calls?

If for calls, type this *#*#197328640#*#* in dialer. Go to audio -> voice calls -> headset -> volume -> top one. Press on the bottom most value and press menu button -> key value. Enter anything above 90 and it should be louder a bit.

This WILL NOT LAST AFTER A REBOOT though.

That's good! I not sure but some people said installing certain Tweaks will amke the FC. I think Pulser already adjusted it. Not sure though. Been 1 week since I VR forum  biggrin.gif
*
The FCs was from the "no charging notifications" tweakla. I don't run that and even with my self bastardized statusbar everything runs fine.

I'm sticking with VR2.0 for now + trying out Ninpo's new V2 kernel. Everything's so damned responsive lol. Hope the batt life is equally good.

noticed this warning on some apps:
** Note to Samsung Users - some "Galaxy S" devices cannot download this app due to its size exceeding 30mb. Please be aware of your device's limitations before attempting to purchase. For info on this and all other installation issues, visit our FAQ: www.mikamobile.com/droid_faq.html **

does it apply to sgs2?

the FAQ mentioned of earlier OS and specifically SGS1, so i guess it's ok for sgs2, right? no such limit problem on sgs2, correct? smile.gif
*
I...don't know, really. But what I DO know is that I've downloaded countless apps that pass that size limit already without any issue what so ever.

I wonder why Villain rom don't add the sensitivity tweak in villian tweaks sad.gif

i mean this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161262
*
Er, because you have to RECOMPILE the kernel to add that? VillainROM is a ROM not a kernel. And Chainfire's kernel is just modified stock, not recompiled at all.

Try Ninphetamene/Ninpo's kernel. Pulser reccomended.

any phone also got it's flaw..where got perfect phone..even bmw also got issue..depends on how you see it...yes, it get a little warm during heavy usage like internet browsing and gaming, the famous pink spot camera, but the flaws are soo little that it covered by it's capability to be the best smartphone in the world..everyone critics do agree with this best smartphone to date now..
*
Battery life, the non qHD screen and the fact that you have to:

A) use your brain a lot more
B) be a bit more adventurous
C) usaha a bit more

to get the best out of an SGS2. But I think this holds true to most Android phones anyway. Plus, Samsung didn't screw up stock firmware/ROM too badly this time, compared to the SGS, so it's pretty much ok stock too.

Other than that, no dealbreakers.
